  • This week on INSIDE THE ARTHOUSE, we speak with two time Academy Award nominee, Rick Goldsmith, to discuss his new film STRIPPED FOR PARTS: AMERICAN JOURNALISM ON THE BRINK, opening in theaters Friday!
It is opening in theaters this week, and is a thought provoking documentary that plays like a thriller-- and a story of capitalism run amok. You will find yourself leaning in to try to understand a story almost too wild to imagine. Goldsmith reveals that U.S. newspapers are being rapidly acquired and stripped down by a New York hedge fund, eager to take advantage of a vulnerable industry. But--journalism is at stake, one of the foundational elements holding our democracy to account, and the reporters and editors who usually tell the story, become the story. It’s really fascinating.
This is a well told and expertly crafted documentary that rings the bell- and must be seen. I hope you will join Greg Laemmle and me as we get to discuss this remarkable doc with its director on INSIDE THE ARTHOUSE.
    -------------------------------
Hosted by Greg Laemmle, President of Laemmle Theatres, and Emmy award winning director, and actor Raphael Sbarge, Inside the Arthouse is an “insider’s” perspective on filmmakers and people responsible for films appearing on arthouse screens across USA.

My thoughts are with both hard print and online working together. One is independent of electronic sources susceptible to being cut off. India did so in Kashmir.
Truth is the backbone the gears to a complex yet effective Democracy that brings attention to the issues of the people.
A mouthpiece for the people and not government and/or commercial corporate companies.
A public service like police public utilities have a publicly supported arm of independent journalism. A prophetic tradition is an important aspects of a fast moving world especially bad it relates to our impacts on the environment and its avoidable impacts on us.
“Attention Must Be Paid”, at present Climate Change and effective policy to help US cope with this new reality instead of turning our heads. Avoiding reality leads to a collective ignorance.
It’s our new reality, a man made altered one we all need to understand and seriously get on the same page to save our future has and been a lost lead too long.
We’ve lost connection hedge fund greed debt financing and love for $$$ commodification of just about everything.
We the people really do have the power and use existing antitrust laws.
News organizations owned by corporations steeped in hedge funds, is like asking the wolves to watch the hen house holding the eggs to our Democracy.
Capitalism works by rules, milking the system and unbridled greed leads to an economy that is no longer predictable it goes by a new set of rules, outside the tenets of economics.
Environmental impacts are being paid for by the public, without fair input from decent accounting of private investors.
Environmental impacts have true economic impacts on the people. We need to account for these costs both short and long term consequences, and their solutions to help with the management for amelioration of impacts of future consequences, especially given the delay of benefits from our more sustainable practices which will not impact the warming trends we’re currently seeing today.
Things will get even worse before they get better.❤️‍🩹

Community efforts and engagement initiatives involving robust input and support from the public. Essential for quality control and accountability assurance across the spectrum of all activities of the people.
We owe a debt to true journalism difference of opinion to get to a resolution common solutions. One can see the importance of if a healthy Democracy to address these issues of humanity and its bright future.
