Hi! If you're curious about how this would sound on a fortepiano from 1855, check out my vlog: th-cam.com/video/WriW5YkGv64/w-d-xo.html

I listened to your "Liebestraum" on the old Wagner Erard & I found that piano gave this piece a more beautiful sound right out of the gate! I'm surprised at how overbearing the bass in the modern piano is -- the vintage one's bass is kind of subliminal, allowing melody notes in the middle and upper registers to shine more easily, the whole thing sounding gentler and more humane somehow. Cheers!
(To even things out, how about playing, say, "Schluß zum Vorspiel" on Liszt's piano?) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I am a bloody stupid idiot, say it.
But this sounds so much crisper and the higher keys are like clean shiny pearls compared to the one from 1855.
      Tiffany's playing shines here.

Unpopular opinion: It isn't. Why? Because the right hand is supposed to be a more stable counterweight to the very active left hand in that sequence. By arpeggiating that chord, this order is disturbed. Liszt chose to write a normal chord, not an arpeggio, at that point for a very good reason.

It makes me pissed that people are saying that she doesn’t deserve to be supported on patreon because she didn’t work hard to get this far. Maybe the physical labour wasn’t as intense but I bet all my money it on the fact that she worked harder to get here than any of you. There’s a reason why she’s world class skill and 99.9% of other pianists aren’t.

I don't get what you mean by "maybe she didn"t work hard to get this far"? Everything you hear from her is the result of countless hours of hardwork over the course of nearly twenty years. Anyone who is this devoted to their craft would become a master as a result. Only a small percentage contributes to talent, the rest is hard work. You need ~10,000 hours of work towards a certain skill to become a "master" in it, and she clearly surpassed that point.

The first part of the song is when you first meet your partner. Deeply in love, you share some of the sweetest and most memorable moments with them. The fresh feeling of being in love with someone and you still have the fuzzy feelings in you.
The second part (where the main "chorus" or melody of this song is repeated, but an octave higher) is when you just got married. A truly sweet and cheesy moment in your life, and probably the most memorable of all. It feels so surreal and so dreamy that you get to spend the rest of your life with the love of your life (I personally think the octave higher version of the melody is just so slightly sweeter and more angelic). You feel like you're on cloud nine and that nothing will ever go wrong. But then as life goes on, you get hit by the reality of life (as we can hear from the piece as it suddenly starts to sound more dramatic and "minor chords ish" during the second part). Things start to get real, and you encounter a lot of obstacles with your marriage and career. You and your partner start arguing a lot, and every day is just a depressing day.
In the end, you and your partner stayed strong, and stayed together till the very end. You two managed to pull through, facing every challenge valiantly. The challenges in life start to subside as you're getting older and older, and life starts getting sweeter again with your partner. When you think back, you realised that the main reason why you and your partner managed to pull through was because no matter what happened, you two always loved each other and were always there for each other. You smile as you revisit all the old memories of you and your partner together. From the very beginning, at the highest points of your relationship, and even the most stressing ones. So in the third and last part (where the melody repeats for the third time), we can hear the dramatic and intense part of the piece quieting down into a smoother, softer, more gentle melody, hinting towards the end of the piece, and also the end of your life. You spend the remainder of your life with your partner together, just the two of you. Having some morning coffee together at the balcony of your small house while seeing the sunrise, talking to each other all day like two young lovebirds. You two stare at the sunrise, both of you feel so grateful to have met each other (we reach the final bars of the piece, slowing down with a rubato). Together alone with each other's embrace, it all feels like a love dream again.

I've never heard soft moments of the piano played with such sensitivity. The lower in volume a piano gets the harder it is to be really expressive. You just have a much narrower gamut to work with. Yet here she handles it with unforgettable ease. It just flows out of her fingertips and you almost forget to breathe so taken are you with the lilting lift of the music that emanates with such tender gestures on the keys. I'm sure that piano felt so calm afterwards after releasing such a torrid of emotion under her guise.

A bit of an insomniac, I'm up at the 'puter checking out the youtube folks who I am drawn to because of their charm or wit or purity of spirit, and I listened to Tiffany's discussion about choosing a conservatory or a college, which was thoughtful and insightful as well, then the Liszt piece rolled around again, and I just couldn't refuse it. Listening on wireless headphones so as not to disturb the "somniac" the sound is rich, pure, melodic and artfully crafted in every detail. I hope I'm not over embellishing my reaction which I've already expounded upon a couple of weeks ago, but some experiences are timeless and well worth revisiting such as is this piece played by Tiffany. I heard you playing it as a young child, and the remarkable difference in the interpretation and execution of this romantic expression of pianist art is dramatic in so many ways. The pauses, the shifting of keys and tempos, the lively twinkling of the waterfall as all of your hands are used to deftly and daintily run down the keyboard in a dripping rush of delicacy and softness...............it's an amazing piece made even more so by your mature gracefulness and personal interpretation. I'm not a musician, but I love the art of music and musicianship, and this may be one of my favorite brief but expressive pieces of any I've ever heard. Thank you for sharing with us, Tiffany.

This is such a tasteful, gentle, and lovely performance of this piece. It's so delicately played, and yet not a drop of Lizt's passion was lost. He gets a lot of flak for overly flashy, flamboyant compositions, especially for this piece, but I wonder how many would soften their views after hearing it performed like this? Thank you for sharing this with the world.
I look forward to hearing it again one day on a freshly tuned piano :P

I like the way you don't rush the climax; for me, it's the difference between ephemeral love versus deep love, and also, the difference between being absorbed in one's own world versus desperately trying to communicate the full broadness of one's passion. Very well done in my opinion !
