A couple of small rules mistakes. First, when you bust in battle, you do not move your leader's strength to zero, only your battle strength. Second, the "increase strength" cards in the tea party phase (little swords) increase your leader's strength, not you battle strength.
This is a great game and not nearly as complicated as people are making it seem in the comments. Once you start playing, it flows nicely.
I came here to say the same thing. Keep in mind she had a prototype so it's possible the rules changed from then to now but either way thanks for clarifying.

I also want to add, that after the madness token is blocked by a shield, it is only placed back into a bag (without any redraw). This is better, because you can play more safe if you want to :) I really like this update from rulebook v1.20 :)
After listening to these rules i can understand why everyone in wonderland is a bit mad.

The aesthetic of the game looks great, but these rules and setup seem real complicated. I’m sure it probably flows once you get used to it, but I fear introducing this to new people

I feel the same way. I'm all for learning a complicated game. I don't mind putting in the time to learn something like this, but introducing it to new people is a problem for me.
i don't even think it looks that complicated, i just think the gameplay isn't worth what complication it does have. I'd just rather play Quacks of Quedlinburg and get to it a lot quicker
cptawesome Quacks is sometimes criticized for not having interaction between players. A friend played it this weekend and said that you were invested in the other players’ battles because you can gamble on which of the other players will win battles you’re no involved in. He said it was smoother than it sounds when it’s e planned verbally.
I'm not gonna lie, I zoned out a little at the begining because I thought this was the Cones of Dunshire.
It took me way too long to realize this was just a competitive deckbuilder.

This game is a lot of fun, and they have changed the rules in post production since this video came out. The gameplay is much clearer now (still a little fiddly, but nowhere near what it was.)
Either I'm really stupid or this game seemed extreeeemely complicated because I understood none of it. I guess I'll wait until the gameplay video is uploaded!
Yeah, I think it's going to take more time to set up then to play it. I love the idea of this game but it would need to be much more bigger/dense for this many rules.
It is fitting though, that a game about Wonderland be overly complex and confusing
You spin the Wheel of Mayhem to go up the Ladder of Chance. You go past the Mud Hut, through the Rainbow Ring to get to the Golden Monkey, you yank his tail and boom - you're in Paradise Pond!
After about 3 minutes I stopped watching because it was too confusing.
The Quakalope video made it much easier to understand. The game has several things going on but individually they are all quite simple
But just doesn't come across as that XD
Games looks fun and well produced. To get the nice version with the plastic discs, distinct meeples, & 3D printed character standees it costs $115 and you have two large boxes (you get both upgraded chips and cardboard chips) with $20 worth of shipping. Otherwise almost everything is cardboard and still costs $50. There is definitely a lot in the box but i have a hard time paying the high price tag for this particular game. I hope I don't regret passing on this one.
This indeed - for some reason - seems overly complicated... And I say that while games like "On Mars", "Lisboa", "The Gallerist" or "Cerebria" and such are leading my top 10 list. I'm confused, but maybe, maybe that was the plan all along!? xD
First off this game looks super complicated and being a beginner gamer myself I'm not too sure if I could get other people to play with me that won't get bored and/or frustrated trying to figure out the game. Second of all I will get it anyway because I absolutely love Alice in Wonderland and the game looks gorgeous. Third her shirt, her shirt is adorable.
In other words, this game is:
Drafting + area control + deck building + additional rules to make it asymmetric
Drafting - you choose what you want to do from the available options
Area Control - you score points primarily from having the most power in an area
Deck building - you want to upgrade your bag of chips with better chips as the game goes by
Asymmetric - each character plays slightly different than the others
Look I am all for complicated games but this game will leave you mad as a Hatter from what I'm seeing, also really looking forward you guys doing more villainess videos
I'm new to board games and looking to pick up my second one. This game is absolutely beautiful but holy crap, the rules. Rules seem so complicated. Don't know how I'm going to try and get friends to join me on this if I'm already lost. I'll just have to wait and see
This game looks really good! Also, while complicated, I'm not turned off by the rules. I think that is because of the art quality and narrative context made by Skybound Games for the game itself. That said, one might say that the rules were designed to drive players to...madness?

6 mins in and I still dont know whats the win condition or even the goal of the game
A major mistake in this tutorial is you do not reduce your leader's strength after busting, just your Strength marker on the battle track.

Yes this game looks like it is a lot. To be honest it is easy to play and just a ton of options for you to have when playing. Now it does take quite a bit of time to play especially with first time players. But if you like a hefty game and don't mind 2hrs of game play, then this game is for you.

Hi Becca, i have two questions about rules:
1) you set the leader strenght at 0 (on the sword space)... but the rulebook says to set it on the '1' space, and this is visible also on the image at page. 4 (E);
2) you say that if a player have no more supporters in a battle region, they are busted... but the rulebook says 'if you have no UNITS left...", so this includes also leader and wonderlandians;
3) you say that if you are busted, the leader strenght fall to 0... but in the rulebook this one is not mentioned.
Maybe is there an updated rulebook different than the printed one included in the box?

You are correct! Becca likely had a prototype version of the rulebook that had differences. All the things you mentioned are indeed correct!
This looks like an over-complicated and over-produced mess with a pasted on theme. Seems like little to no strategy with random luck draws and die rolls.
Reminds me of Quacks & Blood Rage / Rising Sun, but way wayyy more overly complicated. I’m sure it will do well.

Quick question for anyone that might know: Is LA By Night no longer a part of G&S? I saw them streaming with a S4E2 title on the World of Darkness Twitch channel. I couldn't track down any references to a season 4, so I'm curious to what this show's standing is.
I think they've split off to World Of Darkness everywhere now (there's a YT channel of the same name) but I'm not sure whether new episodes will still appear here too.

Reading it over now. I think you just reset battle strength to 0. However the animation shows the leader strength being reset to 0. 😅 love your videos ❤

Today I'm leaving feedback of my personal experience. It's not meant to be disrespectful in any way, these are just my personal experience and thoughts. I think it's a shame that while your content is high quality as far as hosting, set and filming/editing goes, I always end up going to other sources for "how to play" videos. While most of them aren't nearly as nice to look at, a game as complex as this should be introduced more thoroughly. Take some time to really show off the material, for example. Make little interludes with suggestions for token storing, or comments about the characters and such. The density of information thrown at me always makes me turn away. There are already a number of channels out there doing the "super quick rules" thing. In this setup I'd prefer a more thorough look at the game, an actual introduction. This video has my head spinning half way in and now I'm once again off to find an alternative that I will find easier to watch and grasp.
