That's nice and secure. Without the cap you could use a vice grip to steer. That's what thieves in South Africa do. I had a mate who's car was stolen so many times that he used to take the spark plugs out at night.
Yeah, unfortunately, Landrover Defender do get stolen...! Another good tip is to take the fuel pump relay out on a Td5 definitely won't start...if that is removed 👍
@jonnysnakes5417 I think it's a little bit further away from you. It seems that the way the steering wheel is smaller, and I'm looking to get a slightly bigger steering wheel for it. The one on there now is a 13" streeing wheel looking to get a 15" streeing wheel... Thanks for your message...👍
Hi Brian Definitely recommend The Optimill boss and the swivel look... the window Rain, wind deflectors on my Defender from MASAI which was some time ago I decided to spray them satin black a few years back Thanks so much from watching...👍www.masai4x4.com/defender/window-trim-kit-defender/ClimAir-Wind-and-Rain-Deflectors-for-Land-Rover-Defender-90-110-PAIR-p103871860
Nice video Rob. I did the same about six months ago and am well chuffed. Only one problem.... getting the dammed steering wheel off! On an 18 Yr old 90 I've had from new, I knew it hadn't been off😂 Another great product from Optimil.... they really are the Dog's bo##ocks!
It can be challenging to remove the steering wheel on a Defender if they haven't ever been taken off before... yeah Optimill steering boss and swivel lock as very nicely made! Thanks again for watching...👍
On initial inspection of the Optimill "swivel lock", it appears really easy to bypass, it's 3-4 grinder cuts and you can bypass it. So that would be about 3-4 minutes, yes it will slow a thief, but that's in reality it. slow, by about 4 minutes. Also to consider, the removable steering wheel is not road legal in the UK, as it can be removed while the vehicle is in motion - that makes it insecure. If it were to have a lock to it, then it would be able to be type approved, it's not so again, cannot be legal on UK roads. TA is required for any vehicle after 98.
Just adds a bit more security to a Landrover Defender...it all helps along with some other things! Optimill has sold hundreds... of these quick-release boss and steering locks I am happy with it just make sure it put on properly before you drive away...Thanks for your message...👍
Yeah, something can be... but on another hand the swivel look and steering boss are Great and also the LED puddle lights are brilliant on my Defender from Optimill...👌
Yeah...I was at the Great British Landrover show Bristol and Bath Showgrounds... 🇬🇧 You should have said Hello! I did have a few people who sad Hello, recognise me from TH-cam 😂 Thanks Mate...👍
The two keys that you get with the Optimill steering wheel lock are numbered so they will only fit your steering wheel lock and will not work in someone else's system...just make sure that you keep the space keys somewhere safe... like the same thing as your Defender car keys...👍

One of the best modifications you can do, I've the same set up. Nice job
Yeah, it is one of my favourite modifications to my Landrover Defender... Thanks for watching and your message...👍
Nice set up, Rob. Excellent video ! I have the same, and I use it all the time.
I am very happy with it just helps to make things a bit more secure on my Defender... Thanks so much for watching Kevin...👍
Nice vid
Does the wheel end up closer to you or does a wheel with no dish kinda cancel that out (besides it being a smaller wheel)

Just got one in post this morning 🌄 fitting in the min 😅
Yeah, they don't take long to fit... I could have done a video in 2 minutes. Where's the fun in that... cheers for your comment...👍
Thinking I will be fitting one my self.
Where did you get your window deflectors.
Thanks Brian.

@@ROB_THE_DEFENDER totally agree Rob, if the thief happens to be carrying a angle grinder I suppose any anti theft device is removable 👍
Another good video
Looks a good bit of kit that
Thanks so much.... yeah it is very nicely made... Optimill do make some good quality products...for Defender...👍
I’ve found optimil stuff a bit hit and miss, their door handles are complete garbage, but the quick release boss and swivel lock are great.

Just fitted one to mine 👍
Nice one...👍
haha thoguht it was you yesterday, you was talking to me and my mate over by a Disco 3 and Disco 2 by the main door at the show😂
Yeah...I was at the Great British Landrover show Bristol and Bath Showgrounds... 🇬🇧 You should have said Hello! I did have a few people who sad Hello, recognise me from TH-cam 😂 Thanks Mate...👍
What's to stop someone purchasing this product and then using the keys to then go and steal a defender that has one fitted??

@@ROB_THE_DEFENDER Ok. Thanks for the update. You may want to add that to your video
Should be well made for the price… : )
Optimill products are very well made of good quality... make a real difference to any Landrover Defender... cheers Rob 👍
People can cut keys off a photo of the keys FYI
Someone would give it a try... if they were desperate to get keys cut...🤔
I’ve one for sale if anyone interested, just sold my defender but kept the lock
It's always handy to have Optimill steering lock...👍
