I have a love/hate with the trees... While they're pretty, they dump SO MUCH POLLEN in springtime. Not to mention anytime the wind blows from any storm, boom... Trees fall down and the power lines are all above ground so the power goes out an OBNOXIOUS amount of times (like, monthly)

I just returned from visiting Atlanta, and I loved it. A little different from California but I felt like home. We preparing to visit again and look at family oriented neighborhoods to buy in.
As someone who travels a lot, I love the airport. I know it’s huge and I know the line can be a nightmare if you don’t have PreCheck, but I love that you can get a direct flight or a flight with one connection to anywhere on earth because damn near every airline uses them as a hub. The traffic is wild, but it’s not as bad as LA.
I moved to the area in 2016. My biggest complaint is how apparent it is that families are no longer putting heavy emphasis on teaching proper manners, honor, and consideration of others around you. This is especially clear on the roads and highways. So many people are incredibly self-centered and it makes it very depressing to live here sometimes.
That's the people that move here that teach that. Remember the people that are born and raised here know what Southern hospitality is. That's more of a narrowed complaint rather than a broad one but that sucks
I am also a transplant. The Cons: 1. It's overcrowded. 2. The Traffic. 3. The horrible aggressive drivers. 4. The Roaches. The Pros: 1. The food(although I'm not sure why every spot serves wings) 2. The Diversity 3. The Women. 4. The Customer Service/Friendliness 5. A lot of Black professionals 6. The music(including concerts, radio stations, etc.). Overall Atlanta isn't really the city for me, but I can see why people like it here.
This is pretty accurate I recently visited Atlanta after not being there for several years. The public transit system is not that great at all. Thanks for mentioning that the cost of purchasing a home has been catching up to the other bigger cities. I always thought Atlanta was supposed to be cheaper but as a NYC native it's not that much cheaper.
My Brother ( GOD Bless His Soul) when He first came to Atlanta, He didn't feel it at allll, went back home to Boston. Came back years later and couldn't get Him to go back home to Boston for nothing in this world. The South is not for everyone cause it's a different culture however, because Soo many up top folks are moving here, You can find like minded folks. Overall, The A is worth the homesickness You are guaranteed to feel, the Blackness is sooooo intoxicating!!!!!!!! ❤️🖤💚 Especially coming from Beantown.
If you want to find nice houses around 200k you have to go to the Decatur, Conyers, Tucker, Snellville, and Stone Mountain area. They’re about 30-40 minutes outside of Atlanta
@@enzigenes 200K & under homes aren't plentiful in Decatur in general but are nonexistent in North Decatur. It's 30032 or 30034 so they'll be around Memorial Dr, Candler Rd, Flat Shoals, etc.
More ATL pros: All of our trees make for great urban beekeeping. Having traveled to over 60 countries and 40 states, we definitely have the friendliest and most efficient airport. We finally learned our lesson about just staying home for snow days. If you can drive on I-285 you can drive ANYWHERE else in the world, even the roundabout around the Champs Elysee. We have the most delicious eclectic food - one of my favorite restaurants has a combo sushi/falafel platter and what other city has a Black owned vegan food truck park? Also, the weather! The 2020 pandemic wasn't so bad when you could dine outdoors for 50 weeks of the year. I came to ATL in 1992 to get my PhD at Emory then moved next door to CDC. I'll never leave!! In fact, I'm trying to figure out how to legally be burried in my backyard, lol.
Yes I totally agree with this video. It’s getting worse because people keep coming here. However one thing I would add is that you have everything that you need in the area that you stay in. Atlanta have definitely provided me with a great foundation and a great life. I’m pretty happy!!
I lived in Atlanta for 7 years with no car back in the early Aughts. It is doable, the key for me was learning the buses. Now, if they have reduced bus routes, it will be really tough.
As someone who lives in Atlanta myself... when it comes to housing.. definitely move to the outskirts. City living is easy if you looking for an apartment but housing another story
Good vid brother. For me, having moved from LA to ATL a couple years ago, Atlanta traffic really isn't that bad. Outside of rush hours (AM, midday, PM), it's really not that bad at all. Biggest problem is that people from ATL are terrible drivers, the area is very sprawled and the older roads are very small, which does cause unnecessary pileups. Housing is crazy cheap compared to the big cities, but the northern suburbs are getting more expensive. Taxes/expenses are still great though. Oh, and there are A LOT of trees haha. Doesn't matter if you're downtown or in the burbs, kinda all looks the same. Some people will like that, others won't. Economy is great and the people are great. Also, some great food spots here.
Atlanta used to be the place to live ...I remember it being a great place to raise your family. I lived there for 30 yrs....but now I reside in Dallas texas...Too much crime and the rent is crazy high......great place for those who like some good soul food.but just different now..It like the new Hollywood. Be safe who ever moves out there!!!
I honestly live in atl now and where I’m at I don’t see or hear crime at all or often. I guess it depends on where you live at. They say the same about nyc
Nice video! I lived in Atlanta for a few years and I enjoyed my time there for the most part. However, I think my biggest issue while living there was finding the true Atlanta. There are a lot of people who are not from there who currently call the city home. Therefore, in my opinion, there is a lot of fluff that you have to dig through to find the true culture, real people, and southern hospitality. A lot of people are just pretending to be “somebody” Bc that’s what seems to garner the most respect. I know that could be the case anywhere, but anybody who has lived in the city for any length of time, will tell you that that’s really a thing there. Also, it does feel like the city is full. Lol Like just prepare for a commute. Traffic is just what it is. At this point, it feels like they’re just building on top of buildings, and soon Atlanta is going to be in Georgia and South Carolina. 😂 Atlanta is cool though. Be congnizant as you would in any other city and don’t be an annoying transplant. Try to immerse yourself into the true culture of the city, and I think you’ll enjoy it even more.
I’m from Macon and moved up to Kennesaw in 2008…I love ATL! I know the Kennesaw is OTP, but for leisure purposes, I spend a TON of time in the ATL for outdoor events, trails, brunch, dinner, sports, dating (pre-marriage), shopping, landmarks and etc. I’ve found my groove…I learned how to 99% avoid traffic excluding wrecks & lane closures…I know where to go and where not go…it’s just a great city!

yeah i've been in atlanta area for 12 years since i got out of the military and i am still here but i did move from east ATL to Mcdonough where it is much more quite. What i like about ATL is 1. Things to do, 2. there are 3 major sports team to follow ( i love sports) 3. It's close to a lot of major cities within driving distance. (Charlotte, Nashville, Orlando, Jacksonville) and also driving distance to the beaches (Destin, Panama, Savannah and Myrtle Beach) MY cons are Traffic, humidity and Crime.
I just moved from Houston to Atlanta. I found a townhouse in the Lindbergh area, a block from the MARTA station. Give yourself 3 to 6 months to find a nice home. I lost 4 bids but I was patient. The housing is rough because you're going up against Chinese cash buyers. The central area is going to look totally different in 5 years.

My parents moved there about 30 years ago. I’ve lived there off and on because of them. I have a love/hate relationship with Atlanta and it changes moment to moment when I’m there. I agree with you, the skyline downtown is beautiful.
I can speak from personal experience you're 100% on the mark about trying to date women in this area. It seems that a large percentage of the female population are only interested if you're willing to TAKE CARE OF (not simply assist with) their financial needs. If you don't know what that means, basically it means they want to reap the benefits of your hard earnings, and all they have to do is be pretty and MAYBE intimate.
As a real estate agent let me just educate the people who don't know this, and this is true wherever you move to.Never ever move near a airport, lake, ocean, sea, downtown, railroad tracks, golf course, train station, highway, or freeway. Why?Because houses/apartments will always be higher with the rent/mortgage.Feel free to do the research from city to city and state to state. And lastly always search for an apartment/house within your budget. The Joneses can't even keep up with the Joneses anymore! Please to any of you who are doing this, please stop trying to live above your means.

Let me help you. If you want to move to Atlanta and you want to avoid ignorance and crime. Stay away from anything that touches I-20 with very few exceptions. Like downtown decatur or avondale estates. The suburbs are much nicer. Roswell, alpharetta, woodstock is awesome. Johns creek. If you have to live near the city, midtown or buckhead are ok. Otherwise go suburbs.
Moved from Atlanta to DC years ago due the economic downturn .. glad to see the city is back.. I do miss there was always something to do, outside always lit fr.
Anderson SC born and raised here. I lived in ATL Metro for a brief moment and I agree that you can get more bang for your buck in the outskirts. The real estate within ATL is OUTRAGEOUS lol to ME. I could have a house on a hill back home for the price of a townhome in ATL.

I guess I'm in the minority here, however, when I moved AWAY from Atlanta it was one of the best things I ever did. I was born and raised there and lived there until my late 40's. (North Druid Hills, Emory University, Grant Park, Piedmont Park areas). The traffic, crime, traffic, cost of living, traffic, corruption. Oh yeah, the traffic. I’m from Chicago and I visit ATL at least once a year, I have family that were born and raised there so I always get to see the true ATL, not the hype you see on tv and social media. Most of those ppl aren’t from ATL anyway. I would suggest moving to the outskirts of the city in the suburbs. Georgia is one of the most beautiful states in America and ATL is a dope place if you know the right ppl, preferably natives that were born there
It's all about supply and demand in all states. The more people need housing, the more the cost. That's why youngsters are constantly moving. That's why at the end of the day, they go back home.
Awesome video. However, you do not need a car in Atlanta!! If you live within the city you will be just fine. Find a place to live near a MARTA station. There are plenty of Apartments, jobs, clubs, and bars that are near the subway stations. I have lived in Atlanta for 7 years and have not needed a car. If you live in Downtown, East ATL Village, Little 5 Points area, Atlantic Station, Midtown, Buckhead, and within the city on the North East you will have an overabundance of busses, easy access to a Marta station, and plenty of shopping, restaurants, and coffee shops that you can walk to. You can also utilize Uber and Lyft too. You have to make MARTA work for you.
I agree with everything you said. I’ve lived all over metro ATL, but now live in Cumming (yes, I’m black and live around too many Trumpers). Traffic is beyond horrific here. There have been many days when I wanted to jump out of my car on GA 400 and walk home.
Moved to Atlanta from Texas and the traffic is great compared to Dallas or Houston and I love getting from one side of town to the other within 45 minutes which is nothing like Dallas-Fort Worth or Houston.
Great video Corey!!! I used to live in Doraville when I got out the service and you are speaking truth .( I remember hitting that Spaghetti Junction from the Pleasantdale Road entrance daily😄😄). Everything was great then and still is there but I left when too many folks started moving from up North. Things started changing and I had to bounce....
Atlanta has perfect weather, all seasons and a short drive away from a lot of cool places. Not too far south, where you have to worry about poisonous stuff outside either
OMG I miss the parks with a PASSION especially Piedmont and West End parks for sure. Piedmont always has the annual jazz festivals every May around Memorial Day weekend plus the West End park has the Malcolm X festival and parade just week before Memorial Day weekend. ofc it's in the south lol
I love Atlanta and Athens
I have a love/hate with the trees... While they're pretty, they dump SO MUCH POLLEN in springtime. Not to mention anytime the wind blows from any storm, boom... Trees fall down and the power lines are all above ground so the power goes out an OBNOXIOUS amount of times (like, monthly)
Definitely is in a forest. There's nowhere you can go here where you won't be surrounded on all four sides by trees

There needs to be a sign that says NO VACANCY. It's crowded as hell. Lol

I know it’s huge and I know the line can be a nightmare if you don’t have PreCheck, but I love that you can get a direct flight or a flight with one connection to anywhere on earth because damn near every airline uses them as a hub. The traffic is wild, but it’s not as bad as LA.
Not just 5 o'clock but that 7am traffic too! 75, 85, 20, 285... all of em! Car is needed because everything is far spread out!

It's the people not from here.

This is pretty accurate I recently visited Atlanta after not being there for several years. The public transit system is not that great at all. Thanks for mentioning that the cost of purchasing a home has been catching up to the other bigger cities.

I love Atlanta. I can’t wait to move back. Atlanta, my people!

Why did ya ll move if u loved it
I know the Kennesaw is OTP, but for leisure purposes, I spend a TON of time in the ATL for outdoor events, trails, brunch, dinner, sports, dating (pre-marriage), shopping, landmarks and etc.

yeah i've been in atlanta area for 12 years since i got out of the military and i am still here but i did move from east ATL to Mcdonough where it is much more quite. What i like about ATL is
1. Things to do,
2. there are 3 major sports team to follow ( i love sports)
3. It's close to a lot of major cities within driving distance. (Charlotte, Nashville, Orlando, Jacksonville) and also driving distance to the beaches (Destin, Panama, Savannah and Myrtle Beach)
MY cons are Traffic, humidity and Crime.

As a real estate agent let me just educate the people who don't know this, and this is true wherever you move to.Never ever move near a airport, lake, ocean, sea,
downtown, railroad tracks, golf course, train station, highway, or freeway.

What's wrong with Trumpers?
There is no perfect place no matter wherever you go.well I like Atlanta even the traffic is a headache now but much better than some other city.
I agree. Every city is going to have their pros and cons. It's based off of the person's personal preference in what they want in their lifestyle

I’ve lived in ATL since 1999 from DMV via Philly. Just a few things - the slogan is actually Rise Up. Crime has really been on the rise since the panny. Generally speaking it hasn’t been over the top since I’ve lived here. Housing is bad whether you rent or buy. It’s gone up drastically over the years. While dating here is trash, I have several friends who met and married here so it’s not impossible. I agree that there are so many ppl who are not from ATL or even the south that they vibe has definitely changed over the years. ATL definitely has grown up. It’s never going to be LA or NY.
