    This just made me SOOOOO happy! I am from Minnesota by birth, but am an Alaskan (37 yrs qualifies me!). My parents were raised in South Dakota. I spent my summers on my grandparents farms. My dad has been grossing Alaskans out! For as long as I can remember with his pickled eggs! These were a staple in our house, my whole life! I would like to thank you for this video! BECAUSE what do you get as gifts for parents that have everything?
    Love food! I am so excited to make your variations to my recipe! Just in time for Father's day! Thank you so much. Your video was excellent. I look forward to more! Lead with love and have a lovely day!

      @@kerschnerfarmstead Oh wow, I’ve never eaten quail eggs. We get lots of quail and other native NZ birds visiting every day. They look very cute and are quite brazen stealing our veggies. We only have four chooks and they are very fussy about eating greens. Since they roam freely, I’m guessing they lay some of their eggs on the border under the cedar trees, where I don’t normally venture as it looks a bit spooky. So, we find only one or two eggs a day, and end up buying from a neighbouring farm. I’ll probably try with those eggs, and get back to you. It sounds and looks delicious, and nice to have something that doesn’t take too much time. Thanks again. 😊

    • @kerschnerfarmstead
      @kerschnerfarmstead  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So, as long as it doesn't look like mold growing, then it is just oxidizing. When the canning lids get little imperfections in the enamel, this can happen, especially when vinegar is in the recipe. I hope this helps. If you want to completely avoid it, you can use the plastic mason jar lids. They are great for fridge storage.

      Oh no! Are you using well water by chance in your brine? Make sure you are using enough vinegar and possibly try using bottled water if you are using well water. I hope this helps!

      Be on the lookout for vinegar that stores are selling with only 4 percent acidity. It must have 5 percent, especially for canning. Also, try for minimum ratio of half vinegar and half other liquids (water, soy sauce, flavoring). That should prevent any growth in jar.

      Then maybe you should consider making one of the other TWO recipes I have in this video that do not contain ANY sugar. The only one with sugar is the first one 😂. Have a blessed night.

      Sorry but canning and preserving food isn't a fast process. We make our videos as fast as possible without compromising quality explanations. If you cut corners people could end up sick.

      @@kerschnerfarmstead You are trying hard not to touch the cut end of the hot peppers, I do as well I just put on disposable gloves for food prep. You will not have a worry.

      Thank you! Yes, whenever I am cutting large amounts of peppers I will absolutely wear gloves. I wasn't sure if you were saying that because of the peppers or telling me to wear gloves just for food prep 🤣.

      @@kerschnerfarmstead I put gloves if I'm so much as looking at hot peppers LOL. I wasn't telling you to It was just a suggestion some don't really think of gloves as I didn't for many years but as I have gotten older I know better now. You know what they say come's with age. :)
