One of my most spectacular memories as a youngster was the week in 1970 we spent up there with the Jewish Community Center from Revere, Massachusetts. About 100 kids, all teens with chaperones, went up there and enjoyed that property and some skiing, many of us for the first time. We called the ski slopes that we got to run Pimple Peak ... bunch of wise a** kids, but we sure had fun! Thanks for posting, JP!

THAT's ALL WE NEED, MORE STUPID CASINOS. It use to be a FAMILY RESORT that was not updated for wiring and mold grew in it. Too bad it still can't be a resort for people to go on vacation and enjoy that LOVELY area. Wonderful old pictures. Looked like it was fun to visit in it's time.

We got to go there in 1987. My mother had fallen ill and our summer plans had to be forgotten. Our wonderful neighbors then invited me and my brother and two cousin's to go with them for two weeks. One of the best summers in my entire life. It was so glamorous and beautiful and that pool pretty much wss the best pool I had ever experienced. I am sad to see it look so run down Because my memory of they place was so vibrant and beautiful.

I loved the drone footage and am so glad you didn't mess up your family vacation by taking unnecessary risks ". Wonder what is with the dresser going out the window ? I've never seen a pool like that with the deep "end " in the middle . It is a beautiful location ..hopefully the resort can used again for family fun. Thank you for a beautiful video, Jay.

Thank you for this video. I have happy memories of going there with my parents in the very early 70s (it seemed to still be in good condition through my young eyes.) I remember their indoor ice skating rink and being in the kids camp. The plush carpeting throughout and of course the pools. What a sad video to see now but thank you for doing it.

My family has a bungalow right up the road, growing up i spent all my summers there. I don't think there is any actual real security in place but the postings and gates are due to a lot of vandalism that occurred after it closed. It's suspected that some disgruntled workers got some frustration out on the place. However i am glad that you didn't go in, while it was once very beautiful it had been long neglected even prior to its close so i suspect that it is really unsafe now. I do have really great memories of walking over and feeding the ducks by the lake, taking the row boats out and bowling, playing shuffleboard etc. The area was hit pretty bad by Irene and the damn to the lake broke, so that beautiful iconic image you opened with no longer exists.

In 1963, I was a high school student. Summer of 63 and 64, I worked in the dining room of the Homowack. Insane stories, wild summers, lots of money. I earned enough to buy two sports cars and put myself through college. Yicks, but what I got as a life education during those two summers. Funny, I though life would be like that. I suppose its a good thing life was not like that. I mean, how long can someone live having that much fun. I knew the owner, Blickstein, I knew the bookie who layed off bets at Monticello Raceway, I knew Marty the Owl, and The Lunatic with the '54 Ford Hotrod. Okay, I'll stop.

One thing that did pop into my head though the minute I started watching this was an old episode of Forensic Files I once saw about a family being forced to abandon their mansion suddenly due to toxic mold. I was just wondering what precautions you take before entering abandoned places that could possibly have such hidden dangers lurking inside.
Also, here's the link to the episode of Forensic Files I'm referring to...

I'm literally watching your Forgotten Summer Getaway episode on my tv when the notification for this comment pops up on my phone, lol. Man, you've got me hooked. I also wanted to tell you that while "binge watching" your episodes yesterday TH-cam threw some other guy's video in the mix. (popped up in my suggestions I might like or some crap...) Any hoo, out of curiosity I clicked on it, smh. I couldn't even get through 5 minutes of his video, smh. He was all over the damn place, 100mph, zipping past TONS of items on the floor. It irked me soooo bad I caught myself wanting to yell at the tv & tell him to slow down & go back, uggh. Point being...I quickly switched back to your channel. I love the pace you go at, it's perfect the way you give us, the viewers a chance to see everything you see. And the way you interact by talking about the items & giving back stories whenever possible is a bonus. Keep up the good work. & stay safe out there. 👍🏻
