Those rotors aren't in two pieces to allow the pieces to be replaced separately, they're floating brake rotors. Floating brake rotors can reach higher temperatures without warping because they are not directly bound to the center. Normally, warping from overheating happens because the rotors are hot and the center is not, at high temperatures the expanded and softer metal of the rotor loses the battle with the stronger, colder centre and buckles where the metal is hottest. Floating rotors are attached in a way that allows this to happen without stressing either the center or the rotor. An added bonus of floating rotors is that the rotor and center can be made of different materials, allowing the brakes to be lighter.

Sikkens paint was by far my favorite back when I was spraying. Good to see proper PPE being used in the booth! I lost a co-worker to polyisocyanate sensitization. Beautiful work!
Sealer is basically thinner primer that doesn’t build like primer. Primer needs sanded before painting on it if you want it to look really good because it goes on fat and makes waves. Sealer is ready to paint because it goes on thing and smooth.

I own a rs4 convertible it’s been awesome to watch you working / restoring this one. From the factory it has a valve controlled exhaust so when you push the sports button it open the valves on the muffler and the car runs at full power

Don’t know if someone already said it, but the exhaust was active. You pushed the sport button on the steering wheel or on the central console and it would open up a flap in the exhaust to make it sound better. Also the sport button changed the way the accelerator requested torque to the engine. I found some documents regarding this car and the engine and I’m really glad I did because I love this car
As an RS4 guy I loved seeing you rescue this car! You should buy it!!!! Thanks to your inspiration I took my RS4 Cab out for some top down driving today!
Yes they came from the factory with the active exhaust. Theres a “sport” button that would open and close the valves and in the euro spec version the bucket seats would tighten around your body as well when pushing the sport button. Ive owned 2 of these already… after watching your videos im itching for a third. Just started watching this. Great videos
I am a professional paint mixer currently like Lupe, it’s a very satisfying job. We use spectrophotometers to colour match customers cars which allows us to use a paint system to find best matches for paint across different brands, it’s great for matching paint on older cars as with common colours will have had multiple shades while coming off of different production lines.
Nice mini-series Alex, your video's always drop late Saturday night here in Sydney Australia, so I always watch them first thing Sunday morning, great way to start my Sundays, and the meal of choice is breakfast...
Polish for the win! Love the videos. It's always a highlight to my day when I see a new video posted. Inspires me when I watch to get a project of my own and start tackling things I haven't done before.
In the north of west australia the mining Toyota hiluxes used to get very dusty MAF sensors. Always throwing p2006 manifold runner stuck closed. The hot wire ones we used contact cleaner and the newer style MAFs required short but several bursts of compressed air only. Very cool to see explanations in your videos now Alex.
Cool video, very entertaining. Just want to add that the split piece brake discs in my understanding are split to improve heat dissipation, less heat is being transferred to the hub and that in turn helps the bearings under lets call it more spirited driving.
Mechanic from the uk here those fuel filters have pressure regulators in them hence a great idea to change it and I only use MANN filters as they are OE and made in Germany also noticed you didn’t show removing the rear carrier bolts they aren’t exactly fun great work buddy do most of these type of vag cars daily and drive one my self
One of my hero’s of the car culture, Gene Winfield, is credited with winning “best paint” at a major car show with a truck in primer. Cannot confirm validity, but that man is such an innovative master I have no doubts it’s true.
Alex, from what i have learned the 2 pc Rotor Concept is not regarding replaceability of the ring, but because of the different expansion of the ring under heat/load compared to the hub element. Different materials, more of a lose coupling.
I haven't looked forward to sitting in front of a screen on Saturday mornings this much since they stopped doing cartoons on tv when I was a kid! Thanks for making Saturday mornings great again.
Also seen in the last video that you questioned the exhaust. Milltek is an aftermarket exhaust maker for mainly VAG models. The manifolds and downpipes look stock but the cat's look race type.
The RS4 was an aspirational car for me, early in my career. Had a buddy with this exact blue in South Africa, so this restoration's been quite personal Alex. And honestly, including the body work and wheel resto - just loved it! Great vid, even if I'm biased!
Hello from Poland. I have been watching your chanel for two years by now, absolutley love it. It is treue that there is many poles in Chicago area. There is even polish quater in the city (Polish hill). I also had somebody from my family living there (my granddad's brother).
Just a heads up, the 3M eraser wheel will probably be cheaper, found on Amazon. I detail cara for a dealership and that's what I use. They are awesome!
We did a color science workshop and it was some seriously interesting stuff!! Like you said Alex, the colors that you would never think of to make shade variations and adjustments would end up nailing these environmental stage changes spot on. What was even more interesting was depending on the tone of metal flake, it could be an entirely different color combo to achieve the same exact shade adjustment. There is a very cool science to it and there are some paint folks out there that this stuff just makes complete sense just the same way a gifts mathematician can just see the solutions as if they were picture images. Awesome stuff. 👍🏻😎👍🏻
You can find the same discs with Brembo parts code for like $450 each. Also if/when it needs a throttle body, it's the same part on the Z06 corvette. "Silver blade" corvette throttle body. Get the GM part number and save $800-$1000. Also, half polish here. Fond memories as a kid visiting relatives in Berwyn. Little old ladies wearing babushkas towing their carts around.
You should do more challenging cars like Audis maybe Volkswagens I never see you do these. I know they can suck and are challenging but that's what makes these videos interesting!!
One trick on screws into plastic is to turn it backwards until you feel it drop into the thread groove, that way you don't cut a new thread every time you screw it in. It makes the threads last longer. Fix that headliner. :)
Thanks, Alex for the videos on this Audi. The car turned out beautifully and yes, I'm a big fan of the color. I hope this beauty goes to a good home. Phenomenal job by you and the body shop. This awesome 2007 car looks better than some of the 2024's that are rolling around on the streets these days.
Great quick turn around, love the RS4, Glad you didn't have to sort the DRC or the Oil Cooler lines, as they are not fun, and like you said, Chain at the back of the engine is not a fun job. Sure you have been told, but you have had many many comments, as you are a popular man lol, the exhaust vacuum lines are there from the standard Audi Sport backbox, when working the vacuum holds one exhaust flap in each tail pipe open, and when you hit sport, it closes the valve, most get stuck over time if not maintained, so its a mute point, but if you want a choice, a bit of oil and patience can free them, but from time dot, in UK in any Avent, Milltek was the way to do to release the V8s full sound. Keep up the great content. Been following since the high mileage M5, and still loving the content.
@LegitStreetCars Factory mufflers have a valve that opens with the S button, hence the air lines in the bumper, that is why you didn't notice any difference when you hit the button in the last video. S button changes the sound of the exhaust to a much deeper tone, uses more aggressive fuel maps from ECU and on some models pumps air into the driver seat side bolsters to pump them, up for a tighter seat feel.
I own a b6 s4 that’s in a very similar color with rotiform wheels! It is my first manual and first v8! It is timeless and gets heads turning anywhere I go! Great videos!

Nothing is more fun than watching someone that is amazing at their craft.
REALLY well done Alex. Love the car, love the colour, and love your work. So good to see the end of a miniseries.
LSC is my favorite car TH-camr because he cleans everything he takes off.
That 60’s Scout would have been my pick. I have had a couple of them, most rad 4x4 ever, and the first real suv.
Alex, from what i have learned the 2 pc Rotor Concept is not regarding replaceability of the ring, but because of the different expansion of the ring under heat/load compared to the hub element. Different materials, more of a lose coupling.
They’re suppose to dissipate heat better.
I used to watch a bunch of car guys. You are the only one I keep up with anymore.
we use these rubber wheels to get rid of the glue when removing the balance weights on wheels as well. works like a charm
The restoration of the screw was fabulous.🥳
One trick on screws into plastic is to turn it backwards until you feel it drop into the thread groove, that way you don't cut a new thread every time you screw it in. It makes the threads last longer. Fix that headliner. :)
Alex i have been a painter for 20 years and i also use the sikkens paint line. Always a prefect color match. Loved this video
I had the 4.2liter V8 in my Audi A8 around 2002 all aluminum body Quattro! What a great ski car. I took it to seven states skiing in one year!
Thank you for saving this beauty! Has always been one of my dream cars!
I’m Polish!! I knew Lucas (Łukasz) was a Polak right off the rip 😂
The guy in the paint shop is so kind ❤️❤️
Audi B7 RS4 owner here. The stock exhaust is valved. Pressing the S button opens the valves and I believe improves throttle response.
As soon as I saw the body work start, I had a feeling he was Polish going by the accent.
Another Polish viewer here, from Connecticut.
I usually don't eat watching your vids, but today I was finishing up a load of scones I baked over the weekend with some clotted cream and strawberry jam.
Not Polish but currently in Krakow with Polish friends from Chicago. Great people and beautiful country.
I am reverse searing a Filet (3lb whole) for the family on the OK joe bronco. Also getting ready some Roast potatoes and made a fresh Chiabata loaf of bread to add with garlic butter :)
