Yea that olds 442 sticker isn’t correct , last model year was the 1991. The 442 meant 4 cylinder , 4 valves per cylinder and 2 cam shafts. They had a 2.3 4 cylinder with either 180 horse for the w-40 model or 190 for the w-41 model.
I have done paint chips for years living in CT with the bad roads and winters. Never thought to dab the recently painted chip to reduce the impact. Appreciate this step-by-step process to understand how to make it look better. Stunned that the Oldsmobile was faster off the line than the Ford SHO. Did not see that coming at all. For its small engine it really had good performance in the 1990s.

So in the mid 90’s is when I got my drivers license. As a 16 year old I was wanting a Beretta or a Z24. Basically the same car. But I ended up with my aunts 87 Subaru GL Wagon. I had that up to 99 and even delivered pizza for a year in it. Then I got 96 Civic EX. My friends cracked jokes on my Subaru. Thanks for making real down to earth car videos for just the normal guy.
22:35. Yes as crazy as it sounds (at least speaking for the cobra taillights) people sell them for that much. I think $2000 is way too much but I’ve seen them sell for $1000. The taillights have amber turn signals and those specific taillights are only found on 99/01 cobra mustangs and some import mustangs so yes, they’re rare. The front bumpers on those cars were equally as rare as they also only came on 99/01 cobras. People could sell a mint condition 99/01 cobra bumper upwards of $800. That was until LMR released a reproduction bumper yesterday 😂.

That SHO actually pulled on my Tuned Port Trans Am after I got him off the line and dang near beat me... we pulled over and talked afterwards and the older gentleman was quite nice and showed me around his car. I was very impressed. Now I am that guy driving a 2022 WRX, lol.
The slowest drag race ever, I love it!
Italian Trolling …no gas cap 😎
Fantastic episode! One of my favorites by far. The race with the SHO was the icing on the cake. Great job.
Ford Vs GM. What side are you on?
Ford
GM
On on GM's side, but Ford understood the assignment much better. Yamaha engine? Hell yes.
Ford
I'm a GM guy but I think the SHO has more nuts.
NOT 4 speed. It was a 5 speed manual. 4 cylinder 4 seat, 2(dual) exhaust. The original 442 was 4 barrel, 4 seat 2(dual) exhaust.
4cyl, 4 spd, dual exhaust is what the 442 meant in that gen
@@tinkeringtrucker5196the ‘90s QUAD 442 meant 4 cyl, 4 valves per cylinder, and 2 camshafts.
My bad , if you go deep and really look it means 4 cylinder , 4 valve per cylinder and 2 can shafts.
So uhh was there a reason you left the gas cap off when washing it? Lol. Now you have water in your tank!
Oh boy. I guess he must have run out of old socks.... I guess if you run a few tanks of gas with ethanol...it might "get rid of" whatever water got in there.
You guys edited in the race by accident while Alex was removing the wiper arms lol
Haha It was a teaser!
I thought I was the only one going crazy
Looked through comments to see if anyone else noticed that.
Editing struggle there
That is what made me watch it.
Wednesday upload and over an hour!?!?? Yep ordering out tonight, screw the baseball game.
Love a sho. Ford number 1. 😊
It's honestly so cool to see a channel do videos on cars like these. They are always forgotten but they have their own cool and unique factor. Awesome video brother.
A random non Saturday video, awesome....
Love the channel! Still hilarious near the end when you say you only spent $3,000 on this vehicle. Sure- to buy it… but no mention of the hours and cost to restore it. You keep your secrets 😂
also, he cried 100% during this video
After a touch up, it's almost as good as chrome. That front bumber looks beautiful, Very good detailiing. Thanks for authenticating the vehicle with so much effort to restore it to original equimpment manufacturer specifications or better. Beautiful Beretta dash.
Quad 442 was the Cutlass Calais with the Quad 4.
I have a similar type project an I really enjoyed this series
SHO is just a machine! Love the 24valve Yamaha. My friend's Dad bought a new SHO when they hit the market. It was so cool riding around in that car with his Dad rowing gears and listening to that engine hum.
Another mid week video!!!!!!!! Let's gooooo!
Man you're dumping all kinds 9f soap and water in the gas tank!😮
So in the mid 90’s is when I got my drivers license. As a 16 year old I was wanting a Beretta or a Z24. Basically the same car. But I ended up with my aunts 87 Subaru GL Wagon. I had that up to 99 and even delivered pizza for a year in it. Then I got 96 Civic EX. My friends cracked jokes on my Subaru. But I would always say, the back seat folds down so I have a place to “do” your sister. This series really had me going down memory lane. Thanks for making real down to earth car videos for just the normal guy.
Now I want my teal green 94 S10 back. It’s the green version of the olds blue.
I just dropped off my car at o'hare auto body to get the fender/front cover and passenger door repaired from a side swipe hit and run. I chose them cause of this channel and the incredible work we have all seen on your cars. I saw one of your cars there and WOW it looks soooooooo much better in person 🙂🙂
Granny shiftin', not double clutchin' like you supposed to!
Lmfao 😂
now me and the mad scientist gotta rip apart the engine block and repair the piston rings you fried
What’s the deal NO gas cap and your washing the car 🤔🤔🤔
Just came looking for this comment... I think I almost had a stroke watching that
If Alex loses the race to the SHO it will be due to having 2 gallons of water and soap in the gas tank.
I was about to ask that myself
I saw the same thing. Water and soap.
Glad I’m not the only one that saw this @alex??
This is quickly becoming my new favourite automotive TH-cam channel. Thanks for brining us along for the ride! Cant wait for the next video
Word to the wise: dont ceramic coat an area youre still working on compounding because if you hit that ceramic area the polymer bonds will booger up some and really nulify your pad. Im sure some detail experts will say the same. It can be done but its better to keep your pad clean.
No it is not a four banger trunk lid do not remove it It is the original car what it stands for you have a special engine in there I am a GM Master tech I just live down in Indy what it stands for quad 442 is your engine It has four cams That's what the quad is for It is a dual twin cam It has four cams two cams in each head which makes it a quad 442 very very rare
The most organized and efficient automotive TH-camr‼️ love your content never change
I appreciate that!
Alex............10,0000% the best show on TH-cam!! What car you bringing to WrenchWerx in FL =) SRR-RIGHT? lol
It's just a sticker, Alex. Quad 442 was the Cutlass Calais (Grand Am) and the Olds Achieva with the quad 4 cylinder engine
That's what I thought but my memory is becoming suspect in my old age
Yeah I would take it off
This whole video was amazing. Watching the paint correction and wheel refinishing was so interesting, and the pin striping process is truly an art form.
Uhh where’s your gas cap? Spraying water and soap 😬
This explains why he lost the second race Haha
That was making me cringe also. I was like what the heck?! 😅
Did Max hit POST by mistake!
I can’t lie, its super clean
Shake N Bake not include bags anymore! Lol Only seasoning.
The ending lololololololol
2:58 - Editing mistake? lol
Edit: Its been removed now, it showed the race preview twice and the end result by accident.
It's a glitch in the matrix!
Saved me over an hour of watch time 😂
Thought i was tripping for a second lmao
I was like wtf??😂😂😂
Foreshadowing.
Nothing better than watching a Legit Street Car. They have all the issues my real world cars have, that’s my favourite part of the channel. I mean who doesn’t do brakes without a sledge hammer? Am I right. Keep the videos and great car choices coming Alex!
Alright!
Is it just me or the headlights reminiscent of a Bugatti Chiron
Citroen SM, Lagonda Series 4 ?
I had a 1990 Cutlass Calais International w/ the Quad 4 2.3 H.O.
190 hp from a naturally aspirated 4cyl matched with the Getrag 5spd was the most fun I had in a car.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR CUTLASS
Who did you guys have winning this race? No Cheating!
SHO 4 sho 🤭👽🤓🎬
SHO. I had a 91 SHO and a 95 Grand Prix GTP and I'm sure the SHO with the manual was quicker and much faster top end
SHO 4 Show hero 😂
The SHO hands down lol. (EDIT: Oops... wrong SHO)
Thanks so much for the upload today, it's been a rough couple months.
SHO. I remember all the hype when new.
I think there is an editing issue at 3:00
My thought as well
Good work, Columbo.
I love that you took the time to put this thing back together. I feel the same way about my '92 Toranado Trofeo and my '89 Grand Marquis
I'm so disappointed Alex, the beginning of this video had NO SPOILER alert! Get it? Spoiler?😅
Sorry I had to do it😂
Ummmmm…. GAS CAP while spraying into the fuel door?
Man, Bruce is such a legend 👌 Every time he expressed his opinion, you just think "Yep! He's bang on"
