  • I am going to install some very bright LED garage lights in the pole barn. They are a High Bay LED light, made by HyperLite. And with 21,000 Lumens of output, they are very bright. And the concrete contractors come back and pour concrete in front of the pole barn. The pole is really looking finished from the outside now. Then I will cover the cost of building the pole barn so far.

    Get a large exhaust fan and install in the back of the barn, then when any window or door is open it will pull the hot air out and fresh air in and will be a lot cooler. Think about a night light on the front of the pole barn and one on the light pole you ran power from and that way you could see at night if you needed to. The lights look really bright and you did a good job of wiring everything.

    This is the reason I never tallied up the cost of our pole building. We bought a farm with a bare interior Morton building this year. I finished off the space just like you, with spray foam and even the UFO lights. I also did blow in ceiling insulation and finished the walls with plywood 8' up with tin for the upper 5'. You and I are kings of bad timing for building supplies. Good luck, I enjoy the channel.

    That price seems expensive to me Evan.. We put up a 75ftx45ft Galvanised steel framed building,this was a kit building. We prepared ALL the base, got it level etc etc.. Then paid £8000 for a contractors to put it up.. The kit building consisted of galvanised steel stantions, roofing sheets, Yorkshire boarding on all 4 sides, (8ft).The entire kit was £13500.
    The concrete floor, we had poured, but leveled it ourselves.. That was £6000.The concrete floor is also reinforced, and is 6 inches deep..Enjoyed this video.. 🚜🚜🚜🚜💯💯💯💯

  • @dennisfahlstrom2515
    @dennisfahlstrom2515 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    It was pricey but you’ll benefit from it the rest of your life …unless you move. The lighting was more costly than I expected but it’s efficient and bright. I think using that white or light gray epoxy floor paint would make the interior even brighter and it would also make clearing out the sawdust much easier but don’t use the sparkle stuff as it would reduce the slick surface you want to make cleanup easy.
    Keep up the fine work. Your videos are always interesting and well done. I’m 76 and have been doing wood projects for 50 plus years and I’ve learned several tricks from you. Count your blessings with having a good hard working wife. She’s sure a keeper.

    Well the good thing is if its warm in the summer the barn should be a warm place in the winter. Now you have good dry storage to work on things. The weather is just hard on equipment. It seem now might be a good time to use it for a year and then move to your final set up. Later on it might be nice to set up air drop lines from a compressor. It gets to be a pain to drag the hose everywhere. Placement will work its self out when you use it. It is really nice if you can wheel your tools and lubricants around. I have also found a engine hoist very useful. I have used it to remove tractor tires and all kinds of lifting and handling of heavy parts. I have used it to also load them in the truck for repairs. Lucky enough my tires just fit in the bed of the truck. I look forward to see how it all works out. You may be able to rent it for special events. While the farm is growing and its empty. It would not really be my favorite thing to do but could work if your operation can make it work.

    We just got the floor stained and sealed in our new shop. The "heated space" is 40'x40' with a 26' awning on the front. Still have to wire and run compressed air. You've sold me on those lights! Our building has 12' side walls and the roof is on 5/12 pitch. Total for the building was $72000. A little over $27 bucks a foot, insulated. Hope this helps anyone planning a building. Note: When you spend that kind of money on concrete, sealing it is cheap! Oil on it would make ME throw up.

    I was bracing myself for the total and I feel your pain. That is a tough pill to swallow. However, you nailed it at the end when you said you will be able to enjoy it for years to come. I think on projects like that you are smart to bite the bullet early and get it done so you can enjoy it as long as possible. We never built one but my dad has and he has used it for everything from machinery to pulling in loads of hay so we don't have to unload it and selling hay right off the wagon or to protect it on days we just barely beat the rain when making it. We have even entertained in it. Clear out the garage for large family gatherings and add tables and chairs. Keeps the house clean from all that traffic.

    Different lights, but that's the same way I wired my lights - using outlets and hooks (I also used the lighting calculator and designed it for very bright as well!). That way as technology changes - and you know it will - it will be an easy upgrade in the future to swap the lights out. I put in LED High Bay's four years ago and they are very good, but but that technology is changing fast!

    That is one beautiful pole barn, and I think with current construction prices, you got a good deal. I think I would have had the same reaction as you, that sticker shock can be quite nauseating. Put into perspective though, some people spend that much on their car. Either way you've got a beautiful workspace, that's going to allow you to do a lot of your own maintenance, and building projects, and you can't put a price on that. I am quite envious, that is one beautiful place. God bless, Jimmy

    Great job Evan and Rebecca, you’ll all get so much joy from your garage/work shop/butcher shop/dog kennel and you will get to utilize each section by this time next year. It will be well worth it in your lifetime. Thanks for sharing with us, Fred. 🙏🏻🙏🏻👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👋👋
