Bose In Comparison to the Q90R:
The Q90R has a total of 4 dedicated Height Channels, two in the back and two in the front. The Bose does not have any height channels and instead relies on clever use and implementation of Physco Acoustics
The Q90R makes use of height channels but in return it means you have to adjust other levels to hear things in better clarity. The Q90R creates a 3d sound bubble. The Best example i can give of this is I was playing a video game and wandering through a massive open field. As i walked through it i could hear the birds singing and the an extra emphasis on music and background noise but when my characters started talking everything else over powered them on the Q90R. The Bose However uses a much different approach and is more in line with a 3d like surround sound. So for example when playing a game on the Bose standing in a forest it literally feels like the rustling leaves and wind are alla round you but the birds or creatures are to the left and right of you instead of above you. Its so convincing though and you may like the sound better.
Atmos on the Q90R is more 3d sounding from using the height and multiple channels in the front and back. The Bose does not have Atmos but it more then makes up for it using its special signature sound and use of psycho acoustics and its honester so unique sounding and the sound surrounds you thats its debatable whether you need Atmos or height channels.
On the Q90R there are two HDMI In ports to plug and decode content directly. On the Bose 700 there is no HDMI in ports meaning everything has to be decoded directly using the tv. If you dont want that I suggest you buy its predecessor the Soundtouch 300 has the HDMI In port annnnd is pretty much the same bar minus software and Alexa (if you care)
The Q90R has more emphasis on sound from the front of the room but lacks depth in the back of the room unless using Atmos or up scaling sound modes. The Bose Handles up scaling flawlessly and even a stereo encoded movie will be upmixed to 5.1 AND ontop of that the special 3d like effect can still be felt as well!. The only system that compares so far to this is the Nakamichi.
The Q90R's satellites almost always (with some minor exceptions) MUST be 3 ft behind you and on an angle to fire sound DIRECTLY above your head in order to work properly. However the rears are entirely wireless. The Bose on the other hand does not rely on speaker placement minus the rear speakers needing to be close by to you and uses a room calibration called adaptiq to achieve some truly impressive results but it does not matter for the most part where the rears are placed. the only thing that matters is setting each rear spaker to its respective setting left rear or right rear and you can do this on the plugs that come with the speakers. The plugs also double function as your source of wireless connection.
The Q90R Other then Bass heavy songs rocks for music and sings with clarity, Bose does a reasonably good job upcoverting even music to 5.1 and it is very convincing. However the caveat is that some music doesnt play as well particularly music with allot going on such as heavy metal or something with a ton of instrumentals. The Bose shines more with classical, pop, rock and especially Hip Hop and R&B due to the sheer thumping and clean sounding bass
The Q90Rs bass is lackluster. I recently read an Rtings review how they touted the Bass as quite good. The only thing I can defer from that is that it may have worked better in their set up because i found it to be weak and not punchy or deep at all and my advice is play a movie that you know very well that has deep Bass and see how that sounds (I use Jurassic Park) and if you are satisfied with the sound then great but for me i hated it. The Bose bass is like thunder but it uses special quiet port technology to give a clean and deep sounding bass. In the opening for Jurassic Park the Thumps shook the room and the Operatic voices echoed off the walls. the Only Bass that I have found that competes is the Nakamichi and the Sonos system respectively.
Up scaling on the Q90r is hit and miss. Sometimes the results will blow you away but other times they sound unnatural. I have to give Samsung credit though as up scaling through the height channels is very cool and satisfying WHEN it works which is not for everything. Also stereo content up scaled is where I really saw this bar struggle, watch one of your old cartoons on Netflix or Prime or something not in 5.1 or above and your forced to use "virtual on" which simulates surround but gives mixed results at best. If you do not do that then it will only play out the front speakers and its not that it does a bad job but the Rears do not run if they aren't detecting 5.1 or above or Atmos. Up scaling on the Bose is light years ahead of the Q90r in that no matter whatis thrown at it the Bose makes it sound completely natural being in a 5.1 setup.
On the Q90 and the Bose the rears and subs are entirely wireless and easy to place. the Bose rears are even easier however because of how compact they are. You could tell Bose was trying to accommodate almost any room acoustics with this design because the rear speakers are so tiny they fit in your damn hand!. Unless you go for the newer 700 surround NOW there is no difference whatsoever in terms of sound quality BUT there is a difference in sound field. The basic Bose surrounds cover 180 degrees whereas the 700 surround cover 360. Whether or not thats worth the extra cash though ill let you be the judge.
The Q90R is an absolute brute of a soundbar. In order to implement as many channels into the front as Samsung could manage it takes up half the space below my tv but it gives its front a very wide sound stage. The Bose is slightly smaller but it has just as wide a sound stage however the bar is heavy and has tempered glass design and just looks and feels premium.Unfortunately the caveat of this is it has huge amount of reflection when watching content in the dark. Also it should be mentioned but this soundbar may not be as thick but it is just as long.
In terms of loudness The Q90R is no slouch and with most the emphasis on the front bar and really creating a wider sound stage. The Bose creates a very 3d and realistic surround sound stage and get just as loud but the Q90R in terms of overall loudness will beat the Bose. Whether or not that matters is up to you. Of course this was based on my own room calibration, yours may differ.
Speaking of set up. Although the Q90R is easy to place around the room placement HAS to be exact otherwise you will lose the overall sound it wants to create. The Kicker is afterwards you have to individually set up each and every channel Front left, Front Right, Center, Front Top Level, Rear Level and Top rear level manually to suit the acoustics of your room. This can be frustrating and very tricky if you dont know what you are doing. The Bose is allot easier to set up, you place the speakers where you want and then follow the instructions of room calibration sitting in 5 different locations with a microphone headset on your head to pick up the sounds fired around the room, this can be easily messed up but it can be just as easily fixed. You can also use the Bose app to make your life even easier if your a techy and or want to do a firmware update.
The Q90r supports Earc making it very future proofed for HDMI 2.1 sets coming out in 2020. The Bose is a little outdated in terms of sound formats and also no EARC but that doesnt mean it does not STILL hodl its own quite well against its competition.
The Q90R comes as it is. You cannot add any more subs and or speakers to the system. The Bose however is slightly more flexible given you have the cash. You can add a second sub forsuch a shake that not only will your neighbors hate your guts but the rest of your house might as well. If you prefer to have more rears though you can add two more of those giving eeven more surround. You cannot add both at the same time so pick one of the other. I recommend a second sub because the Bass on this system is incredible for its size.
In conclusion: If you want a simulated 3d created space and dont mind lack lustre bass and prefer to have future proofed audio and features such as EARC then go with Samsung. If you do not care and just want pure surround sound with a touch of 3d and amazing bass then go with Bose IF you have the money. With Bose the only caveat is everything is purchased separately.
Just remember no system is perfect and it may come down to your money and ears in the end.
Any questions I didn't answer may be in my previous reviews so check em out in the comments in Gearlys videos.

I read your review, and i agree with you,but you have forgot or haven't listen the jbl soundbars line, 3.1, 5.1, 5.1 new model and 9.1. All these have subwoofers with 10inch driver,i have 3.1 model, and as a bass lover,i tell you the base is tremendous,i tested both side by side 3.1 soundbar and bose 700 with acouatimass 700, on same songs, and in same room, and i didn't notice any difference between those two subs. And jbl is way cheaper, but offers way more value for the money. Bose is a bit better than jbl on midrange, but in terms of bass and power, and higs, thwy are equal.

      @@claudiugeorge5445 absolutely correct.
The only reason I didn't bring up the the JBL is because at the time I had not heard it. Also I was doing a direct comparison.
Jbls do suffer mid range but in terms of power and also how well they reproduce surround it is just as good as Bose but at a much cheaper price point.
It depends on what is more important.
Side note but longevity is also now a new question I will be asking as some soundbars die after two years for no reason at all.
      Cheers!

Ah yes The Bose Flagship bar.
To be honest I have not used the 700 however I have used its predecessor the 300 which is nearly identical minus software and Alexa.
It handles most content very well regardless of what you throw at it. It has a very wide sound stage and thunderous base despite the woofers size.
For Movies: This bar will immerse you with a 3d sound stage using psycho acoustics and its very cool. It will almost be theater like (almost)
for games: It will feel again almost like you are there HOWEVER sound effects such as unsheathing of a sword or etc get drowned by background noise or bass. Sometimes dialogue also suffers. I also found that during game menus sometimes the system would cut out and the cut back in.
for Music: Its not bad but its not great either. Hip Hope, instrumentals and anything with light or higher pitched voclas does really well. Throw in something rock or metal however or something with allot of instrumentals and vocals all at once and you will begin to see the bars weaknesses. My advice is connect to a demo model via bluetooth IF they will even let you. The type of music you listen to will affect the listening experience.
The Bose Upscales extremely well to 5.1. throw a stereo encoded movie and it makes it more immersive.
    Somethings to note:
Its NOT cheap by a long shot. It is more expensive then then even atmos systems
Tempered glass reflects and leaves fingerprints. As nice and as premium as the deign is it does reflect content on the dark and when picking it up your fingerprints will smudge it on the first try. The white versions mitigate this a lil but not by much.
if you dont have ARC id recommend not getting this bar. you wont get the true benefit with a mere optical cable.
There are no HDMI IN on the 700 model meaning everything HAS to pass through the tv and then the bar so it cannot directly decode unlike its predecessor.
Bass can honestly be overpowering at times and completely mask other sound.
Sound is heavily reliant not just on ARC but also on Adaptiq. If you dont run it you wont get the true experience you could. Its basically Bose version of room correction.
Can Only decode Dolby Digital and DTS which is a huge bummer for a bar system that will cost as much or more then a Atmos one.
You CAN add 700 Surrounds instead of the regular ones and get 360 degrees of sound behind you BUT you will pay more.
You CANNOT add extra rears and a extra sub so pick on or the other. You CAN have 4 rear surrounds or two rear surrounds and one extra woofer. assuming you have the cash.
Bose is terrible for continuing support or updates UNLESS there is a problem they need to address immediately.
When using a PS4 for whatever reason the sound doesnt always work. It cuts in and out. I experienced most with the menu but it also happened during movies and games.
The Bose app is ok but thats all ill say about it.
    Overall:
Its a great system and excellent bar BUT for the money imo you can do better. of course if you love Bose sound and bass and dont care about Atmos or DTS X then grab one.
id recommend tho going for its predecessor which is way cheaper right now and almost identical.
sorry gearly that was a long one lol

The biggest take away with the Bose and I forgot to write it down is the fact that you have to purchase everything separate.
The bar and the subs and rears are almost never bundled and when they are they usually come to a absurd price. Especially if you add another sub or upgrade your surrounds to the 700 model. Which I'll update my comment as well cause I just learned the 700 model other then the wider sound filed is exactly the same sound quality as the regular surrounds.
There is an audio shop in my home town and at one point 2 years or so ago Bose I guess finally caved and dropped the price on the entire 300 system. You could essentially get it for 1200 plus taxes. So my folks went and picked that up.
After that the price went back to normal and I rarely saw it change.
If you are able to give me hands on time with the units in question which means u would have to send em to me or other details can be worked out not in a public comment then I'd be happy to work with you guys and help write reviews.
I also appologize for any typos In my comments lol. I meant to correct them all but there was more then a few that I missed.
I have yet to post a similar comment on the Q90r but I'll get there sometime today lol.
