Hi everyone. A quick heads-up before anyone buys this unit. It is exceptionally well made with magnificent sound quality when playing music however, it is most definitely not a 5.1 surround sound system designed for home cinema. Even with the rear speakers and the subwoofer it just doesn't cut it as a home cinema system. The rear speakers hardly transmit any sound, the subwoofer is really not necessary as the unit delivers a perfectly good base without the need for the subwoofer. The only time anyone would actually use this unit to its full potential would be somewhere where you have no neighbours and can play you favourite sounds at very loud volume levels. One more interesting point, it is absolutely NOT user-friendly. Very difficult to set-up, very hard to determine what's going on with the unit. When you switch between Sky and Netflix, for example, the unit mutes itself, and you have to use the cumbersome remote control to find which channel should be playing the sound. It also cannot group with the Bose portable speaker over WiFi as the portable only supports Bluetooth when playing music from a laptop. Bose have quite clearly never heard of plug and play. All these points were not made clear when purchased. FAZIT: Only buy if your primary use is playing music, for home cinema look elsewhere. 4 out of 10.
I still have the SoundTouch 300 and it’s freaking incredible.....makes me feel like I’m in the theater... I just wish the module 700 would pair with my old system
I bought the Bose 700 sound bar and 700 bass 2 weeks ago and I am returning it today. I have no issue with the sound quality...it is excellent...however, there seems to be an (known?) issue with the HDMI Arc connection AND the universal remote that Bose Support was unable to solve for me. Based on the questions/comments on the Bose Support site and various other troubleshooting message boards online, this seems to be a fairly common issue that Bose has not been able to totally solve yet. There appears to be some workarounds that (temporarily) fix the issue for some, but not me, and even if they did I don't want a $1500 sound bar/bass combo the needs to periodically be reset, unplugged or reconfigured to work...so back to Best Buy it goes. Today.

I was going to get/purchase this sound bar & bass module because it was the only one that convinced me soundwise more than the Sony & Samsung $1,500+ bars. What definitely stoped me were the unexpected poor low rating reviews of bose 700 owners...it only averaged 3 stars out of 5, a 75% of them not recommending. I am a LOUD movie ( sound ) fanatic that wants to hear every single pin drop in a movie & hear the full thunderous beat from a woofer. Now & soo far the only one that convinces me the most & is a lot more recommended is the JBL 5.1.4 soundbar with a 4.5 star rating & only $700. Any other recommendations...?
This full system is very satisfying at high volume if set up the right way. I don’t quite understand what you’re talking about, or maybe you don’t even know Lol
Be patient I just replaced my Sonos Playbar with the 700 soundbar and bass module since Best Buy had the package $200 dollars less and yes at first it would not connect to WiFi I tried a few times back and forth and it just connected and picked up I called Bose and they told me the first time you connect it , it’s basically running updates in the background and takes a little time to connect but it’s very simple after the bar is connected adding. Extra speakers like the sub and surround is super fast
Shit product, extremely disappointed!!! 1st. Customer service is horrendous 2nd. Soundbar and the woofer didn't even register on the app. Tried everything to make it work,it didn't. Returned it ,got a new one and same problems again,plus no instruction manual and they've packed the wrong remote. Waste of money,never buying Bose again.
I’m 100% satisfied with sound quality perfect for my basement set-up. I might consider purchasing the surround speakers to appreciate more sound separation & quality. In addition my wife was able to find karaoke system that we’re able to connect to the Soundbar

The software is complicated, lip sync never seems right; sometimes won't turn on. Read other reviews that are ripping it to shreds unlike this video that seems to have been made by Bose. I'm pissed I didn't do more research. Bose customer service will eventually stop corresponding with you because they CAN'T fix the problems. F Bose!
Now the ARC has stopped working, the digital hookup doesn't work so I'm now using bluetooth - the voices still won't sync - so annoying to be pissed off at a piece of equipment all the time. Sick of dealing with this piece of shit.

I like this soundbar because there’s no felt/cloth material covering the speakers (I hate that stuff). Is there any other comparable brands?
