  • We just picked up this Bobcat T250 and bring it in the shop to get all the maintenance taken care of before we really get started using it on the homestead. We learned a lot and enjoyed every minute of it. Something satisfying in doing stuff yourself and we think that is our biggest attraction to the homestead life. Plus who doesn't love heavy equipment, even if it is old and retired. Have a great day and be safe!

Thank you for watching and commenting! Yes, I seriously wondered if it had ever been changed. I never like the idea of getting under anything that isn’t 100% secured, seen it go wrong too many times. Have a great day and be safe!

Great Video. I just bought a T190 and did not even know that sump filter was in there till I saw your video. Mine is terrible looking also. It almost looks like the chain case filter they show in the book. I was wondering if you could tell me the size of the plugs and caps you used to plug off the lines. Thanks again for showing your video.

Thank you for watching and your awesome comments! I bought a JIC 37 degree flare cap and plug set from Amazon. The size used on the Bobcat was the 6 JIC. The thread size on those is 9/16-18. The inside hole size is 3/8”. The set I have has several different sizes and has 10 of the JIC 6 caps and plugs, it was very handy. Thanks again, good luck, have a great day and be safe!

Are you able to share what you paid for the machine?

Hey thanks for watching and your comment. I really can’t give you a hard number because I didn’t pay cash. We had a multi machine trade worked out with a local farmer. If I was going to sell the machine which I am not, I would ask 24k at this time. I have seen similar machines from 22-24k locally. Machinery Trader was saying used prices would plummet this spring going into summer but I haven’t noticed anything bringing lower prices here. Have a great day and be safe!

I got a guy selling one with brand new tracks on it. Seems reasonable to me have you had good luck with yours?

Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes, haven’t had any problems and no complaints. It is a strong machine and even with 6k hours showing I believe it will do everything I will ask it to do here on our homestead. Have a great day and be safe!

I just picked up a T300.. what’s your thoughts on changing the hydraulic fluid? I was told change all the fluids with my new to me purchase. What do u think

Thank you for watching and your questions. My bobcat holds 13 gal of hydraulic fluid. I would recommend changing the hydraulic fluid when servicing everything else. I didn’t in this video because I have a lift cylinder that has a decent leak from a seal. I have added hydraulic oil twice and didn’t want to change it all until I fix the leak. So I think changing all the fluids is good advice. It’s fairly cheap insurance against a pump or drive motor going out. YMMV, have a great day and be safe!

Thanks for watching and your comment. I believe it is a 2003 if I remember correctly. They were manufactured from 2002-2010 according to my local Bobcat dealer. The T650 is supposed to be the closest model to it now in production. Have a great day and be safe!
