  • Bobcat T300 track loader drive motor failed and needs to be disassembled and inspected before rebuild. This motor was locking up and would not allow the left side to drive. Internal brake failure is one of the most common failures with this style on drive motor.

    The speed sensors for these are discontinued on the SJC units. There is new software that programs them out. They aren’t used anymore. I finally found this after calling Bobcat directly. My dealer was arguing with me over it. I was looking right at the sensors and he told me they don’t have it.
    That situation got me watching this video. Good info.
    Thanks.

      Speed sensors can only be deleted if the pumps have swash plate sensors in them. Not all machines can be updated to delete speed sensors.

    Awesome video. It was the only reason I was to be able to take apart and understand my motor better. I’m going to level with you here. I’m a carpenter but starting building my house a few years back. I own my own bobcat 864, which I’m sure you know has the same drive motor. On my machine I have one long nose and one short. My short nose started leaking very minimal behind the hub. In order for me to own this machine and keep it for my property and for small cash jobs. I have to do everything myself as I can’t afford to pay anyone to do these expensive things. The good thing is I can sit on things because it’s not a machine for a business, so am learning as I go. But as you know this video took me all the way to the hub section, as you issues were before the face seals, so you didn’t have to go any farther. Any info that can help me get to my face seals would seriously help me more then you know. I am sitting here staring at the top of my bearing, trying to figure out how to get the rest out to get to my seals. All of my parts have looked really good up to this point. So I have a really good outdated short nose that I’m trying to keep alive. Plz help. I’ve been talking with Texas Final Drive with their main tech Shane, but he’s always so busy it’s hard to talk to him. I know the bearing has to be pressed in with a press, but how does it come out. Thank you.

      I know this is old but for others. There is two C shaped retaining rings you knock out of their slott and remove the preload washer. Then sit the upper housing ears on blocks and press in the center of the spindle. The housings will press apart then.

    On my T300, my hub is leaking oil but making no noise and drive function seems normal. Can i squirt some low vis grease in there since its only lubricating a large bearing and no needle bearings rather than tearing down for a rebuild or buying a reman unit? Hate to spend all that $$$ if some grease will work in that hub area.

    Thanks for all the good info. (Question) I have the same machine 2003-4 T300, a while back it started acting up, it drives forward , reverse and skids left but will not skid to the right. all hydraulics worked normal bucket up, down, tilt. So I had a mechanic the best in the business take a look at it and he diagnosed the right hyd. auxiliary pump been bad so I had him replace it. after he installed the new pump and changed all hydraulic fluid. The machine did not move forward, reverse or turn left. so when he said he was eliminating possibilities and it might be the MAIN PUMP. I asked him to leave.
    1) What was the symptom of your machine?
    2) Can you advise if my b-cat may have the same problem ( a bad drive motor)
    3) Can you recommend a reliable Bobcat re-man source for drive motors, parts in general.
    Thanks again for your unconditional help. looking forward to your next video.

    • @tetradgroup
      @tetradgroup  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sorry he replaced the gear pump as it has nothing to do with the drive. I suspect you have the same issue as I described in the video, leaking piston on brake section of motor which can be fixed if you don't want to replace. I prefer to use Bobcat reman motors, I've always had good luck. I've bought reman motors from other well know builders and was not impressed with the quality.

    You mentioned that you replace the rings in the rotating group. Where do you get the replacement rings for the pistons that are in the rotating group of rollers? I cannot even get that part to show up on bobcat’s site. And I’m not going to buy all new pistons. My seals for those pistons are cracked and broken.

    Great video I have a t595 2019 recently had the plug fell out and hadn't noticed until machine started to turn pourly,I got off machine and then noticed the plug was out and it was smoking I immediately put machine on trailer and took to dealership.i am really hoping it does not have any internal damage from being run without the fluid for I don't know how long? In your experience would this breaked turning I experienced be possible from just being low on fluid or more likely I have some some internal damage? I have no idea when plug came out and would think I would have noticed since I clean the tracks pretty religiously but am desperately hoping I haven't done any major damage

    • @tetradgroup
      @tetradgroup  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Which style motor do you have? If it was smoking I'm sure some damage has been done. Most dealers rather replace than rebuild. Let me know what they say. I have some motors rebuilt and ready to go if you need one.

    • @tetradgroup
      @tetradgroup  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lukejohnson8110 I'm in Salt Lake, if your motor has the plugs on the outer housing that would be for the brake oil, if the brake pack is damaged it will be cheaper to replace the motor than to rebuild it. The brake pack and seal kit will be around $1700, add labor and the reman would be a better option. Hopefully not to much damaged occured but if the brakes were smoking I will be surprised if the brake pack is not damaged.

    On my s750 I filled the chain case oil and it ran out into the pan on the left side. Is there a seal between the drive motor and chain case?

    • @tetradgroup
      @tetradgroup  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes there are lip seals between the inner and outer carrier bearings but still that's unusual to leak in that direction. Can you see the oil leaking between the drive motor and case? Hopefully the case itself is not cracked. Usually when those seals go bad hydraulic oil will pump into the chain case from the drive motor. Carrier seals is a big job and the seals have been updated depending on your serial number.
