    I live on a boat on a fairly deep section of river in uk. If i fish far side u lose em. If I fish at any depth on my near side deeper than 12 foot its dangerous too. If I fish in 6 foot to 12 ft neaR side i lose nowt. The beauty of wild fish is you choose where to hook em and bait accordingly. There's nowt worse than leaving yer tackle in a carp.

    How do you approach your winter fishing here in the uk Steve??amounts of bait etc.

    • @stevebriggs4638
      @stevebriggs4638  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      All waters tend to be a bit different, but I mainly use Citruz pop ups over pellets or crumbed boilies and hemp or a mixture of all three. Some waters will accept a lot more bait than others but I tend to just fish for one bite at a time.

    @HiLuxLife65 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Steve I have fished the Lot a few times over the years mainly when on family holidays just fishing for the barbel so know it fairly well in different spots one thing I always wondered when watching Jim's vids is why fish across the current to the far bank why not fish along the bank you are closest to ?

    • @stevebriggs4638
      @stevebriggs4638  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Basically fishing across gives you more options and also gives you a better angle to pull the fish away from snags which they invariably want to be around. Fishing the near side would be the easiest option but in two trips now all of the fish I’ve landed from various areas have all come from the far margin.

  • @benbirch2393
    @benbirch2393 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm always amazed at how big the boats are out there... there's us English with little 17 footers and shallow drafts to not catch the bottom... I guess the rivers out there are much deeper even in the margins. Do you know what make and model boat Jim has got?

    • @stevebriggs4638
      @stevebriggs4638  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ben it didn’t seem that big after three or four days 😆 yes the rivers are bigger and deeper for sure. I don’t know what make of boat Jim’s is? His boat is really nice a bit bigger than the one we had with seats on the back, I know he bought it over there after seeing it in a marina.

    Btw super awesome video like always:D

    • @stevebriggs4638
      @stevebriggs4638  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes absolutely I've used both to preserve freezer baits for long trips over many years. Salt is the better one as sugar tends to turn to liquid if there's any moisture in the baits. For actually hardening the baits air-drying is still the best way.
