    You prepared well! The other boats owners were not around or truly did not care. Always think of Those in peril on the sea!

    Wow guys, those boats sure were getting tossed around in the bay. Hope the owners were well insured. SO glad you decided to pull yours out. We had warnings for storms & high winds for this weekend - bit blowy yesterday but not much rain, and like a Summer's day today (Sunday). Nice mix of Fish, especially the Mackerel - you really do seem to be getting some decent sized ones this year.
    Stay safe & well - Dave. 🎣🎣👍👍

      The mackerel we have had this year have been decent but shoals have been tiny

    I remember fishing boats on the beach in Cornwall in the late 1950’s and the Gurnard were thrown away. Apparently there was no market for them at that time.

    Very wise to take your boat out the water! I hope you find all your pots and in one piece and not too far away from where you dropped them i.e. not collected too much seaweed. I've saw on another Guernsey channel he was finding some of his and other peoples pots on the beach.

    • @Trojwaterman
      @Trojwaterman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes plenty of pots on the shore We popped out in the bay and most of our pots are still where we put them.

    Is there much tongue weight on trailer? trailer looks short for that boat to trail at much speed. To little weight can cause fishtailing of trailer. OK for slower speeds though.

    • @Trojwaterman
      @Trojwaterman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not much tongue weight at all Its almost perfectly balanced. The trailer is set up for this boat. We also only have a max speed limit of 35mph

    Do you use different coloured outer wire sheathing on some of your Mackerel feathers/jigs?
    It may be the camera/light,but some of your feathers/jigs look black.
    Smart course of action taking your boat out of the water.

    • @Trojwaterman
      @Trojwaterman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes some are black alternating black and red work well for the mackerel

    Smart move Troy, that's experience and caution that is 👍
    I'm thinking of visiting Guernsey soon with the wife, a well deserved out of season break. I was just wondering, if I wanted to buy some fish for a BBQ could I give you a shout ?.
    I'd like to meet you and I'd rather purchase the fish, fresh, from you. It goes without saying that I'd rather catch them myself, with you both but I wouldn't want to impose.
    Waddya think ?

    • @Trojwaterman
      @Trojwaterman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can give us a shout but we do pull the boat out in Autumn when the weather breaks down for winter.

    Ps would the insurance pay out under those circumstances, when the owners knew what was coming what you did with your boat was just common sense ttfn

    • @Trojwaterman
      @Trojwaterman  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think a lot of that would be down to the fine print on the insurance. Plus I think many would just say they did not know it was going to be that bad.

  • @alangood8190
    @alangood8190 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's always sad to see boats smashed up like that.
    Your side of the island is calling out for a break-water harbour to protect the commerical and private boats. You have stone quarries on the island who could supply the material so has an approach ever been made to your Government, Troy?

    • @Trojwaterman
      @Trojwaterman  ปีที่แล้ว

    Allways puzzles me why people don't watch the weather reports .... makes me suspicious that it's an insurance claim🤔

    • @Trojwaterman
      @Trojwaterman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Some people will need to check the fine print as I have seen some insurances policies state you're not covered for loss of boat if you're not onboard

    The back of the boat or stern is called a "Transom", and offers a location to mount a motor just in case you've forgotten? Love your videok 1but your American accent is rubbish if that what it's supposed to be?
