    TH-cam really screws over Aussie YT channel’s. This channel should have so many more subs. Thanks for all that great information.

    If I trust anyone to be giving me beardie advice, its someone from the same country they're from! This video is amazing with lots of great tips. I already have my bearded dragons 120 tank all set up, but I like to watch videos often to get more ideas and other things I can be doing. Cheers.

      Thank you. There is so much great stuff out there for our reptiles enclosures that there is no excuse for an empty enclosure.

    I really like the Exo terra solar glo, does heat and UVA + UVB

    • @CookiesCritters
      @CookiesCritters  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The main problem is that the focus then limits UVB throughout the enclosure. I would still recommend a linear UVB to cover 2/3 of the enclosure.
      I have researched the Solarglo globes and I’m not convinced of their uvb and heat output.
      I will do a review video on the different types of uvb globes and tubes on the market.

    Hi I just found you channel and love it, I have heard so much conflicting info on beardies that it has confused me . You made an excellent point about the plants, I was going to get some from spotlight for my new baby but never thought of the wire. Also I have a massive lemon grass plant that I cut back regularly and dry the ends is it possible to use that in the tank ? Oh also my husband was going to make me a box like what you had in the video but what paint can we use to paint it. Thanks

    • @CookiesCritters
      @CookiesCritters  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The dried lemon grass should be fine as it is natural. In regards to the enclosure we use high moisture resistant melamine which doesn’t need to be treated. If you use plywood instead, I would recommend painting the inside with pond sealer paint and the outside you can stain and lacquer, or use normal house hold paint. Please allow to dry for about a week to let all the fumes dissipate before putting your beardie in.

    Super glad I found your videos! Very informative! We are building our own tank and it's exactly the same size as this one...may I ask what wattage basking light you use for this area please? Cheers

    • @CookiesCritters
      @CookiesCritters  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the feedback. We appreciate your support. We use a 100 watt basking light. It can be a bit of trial and error until you achieve the appropriate temperatures. Things such as air conditioning can affect the enclosure temp too.

    Love your videos mate. I trust your information much more than all the other American bearded dragon videos on TH-cam. I was given my bearded dragon a few weeks ago by someone that wanted someone that could look after it better. He is getting close to being an adult size (2 years old) and he could do with a bigger enclosure. I was wondering if you could do a video on how to make the custom foam background you have there. It looks very good and is very practical.
    Thanks for the videos mate, keep it up.

    This is a great video. Thank you so much we refer to your videos frequently! May I ask a question? What would you suggest for an Australian climate (we're in Sydney) if the day basking light is providing 40-45 degrees in the basking area but not achieving an appropriate ambient air in the warm side? Would you use a ceramic coil?

  • @pisa7326
    @pisa7326 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey mate awesome content for a beginner like me. What Batten do you use for the UVB . And also do you solely rely on the basking light for heat , should I also get a ceramic heat emitter as I live in a pretty cold climate ? Thanks again

    This is a great video and has helped me heaps however when setting up my thermostat I have done what you said but in some small areas of the basking rock it reaches 50 degrees other areas 38 is this ok? I have also been told not to have uvb the full length of the enclosure is this correct?

    loved this video man! just wanted to ask if baby beardies can be put into 120 gallon tanks from the start to save money?

  • @DeOngster
    @DeOngster ปีที่แล้ว

    Do we need to treat the sand before putting into the exclosure - have read some saying need to bake it, need to dry it, etc etc - what are your thoughts? I do have a thermo in the middle of the enclosure managing the heat emitter - i use it to keep the whole enclosure at a min temp during the day and night - any thoughts on that? Reptizoo enclosure - full mesh top and mesh on one side - so good airflow

      Hi Caitlin. We build all our own enclosures. It’s part of our business. We recommend a 120x60x60. The height is important for the correct UVB gradient. Where do you live?

    so you can get away with the wire cored grass as long as its covered with a thick layer of plastic the fake one you showed would be on the better side of things at least the thicker plant strands also you can mount a wire cored plant upside down from the top of the cage and prevent injury

    • @CookiesCritters
      @CookiesCritters  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The main thing is to maintain the enclosure and accessories to prevent injuries. I know of a breeder that had a lizard impaled on a broken branch of a hollow log. It’s not just the artificial plants that pose a hazard.

  • @brittanyluca543
    @brittanyluca543 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can the UVB cover the whole tank? If not is a 36in tube light work for a 48in enclosure?

    • @CookiesCritters
      @CookiesCritters  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ideally you want about 2/3 coverage. The enclosure needs an area on the cool side where the uvb is low or zero. This way the dragon can thermoregulate and escape the uvb.
