Thank you so much when I saw that thing on her I was like ok she needs to go to the vet now I haven’t finished the treatment but because of this video I know she has a chance of not dying ❤❤❤
I'd like to add one thing: you can keep your bearded dragon in the solution longer than 20 minutes. I'm currently treating a mature female, and after 20 minutes, the prolapse was still out. But after waiting, the cloaca went back in, and she looks much happier than when I first set her in!
@@CookiesCritters I recently adopted a second dragon, an adult female, and I'd love to know how to look for egg laying behavior - or maybe you've done a video on that already, I need to look :)
Thank you for making this video! I have a beardie with chronic prolapse for 5 mos. She unfortunately had hookworms at just 5 mos old (too little for stiches) and i have been treating her with sugar baths hony bandages and gentle lubricated pressure since January. I treated parasites with fenbendazole and when i thought she was oldenough for stiches took her to the vet, but was told they dont do stitches unless the prolapse wont retract. They prescribed Flagyl but there was no improvement. Please can you recommend something?
Hi Merith. Sorry to hear about your little one. Did the vet take an X-ray of the beardie when you brought her in for a check up. If she is chronically prolapsing, she have have an obstruction/impaction in her stomach or bowel. She may potentially have a bone density issue like MBD. Is she pooping normally? Unfortunately what the vet is currently doing is the safest method for rehabilitation. While your little one has parasites she will continue to prolapse. Keeping her on a clean substrate like butchers paper is the safest way to prevent infections. If there is another vet that specialises in reptiles it may be worth a second opinion. Unfortunately a beardie that is prolapsing as much as your little one will keep doing so unless she receives surgical intervention.
Hi, was looking for some advice. My 2 yr old male beardie has been having trouble shedding the last week and not been interested in fluids, greens or live food. Ive been supplmenting with Critical care, to increase fluids. Tnite while having him out for a wander round the room i noticed he was walking funny. Checked his cloaca and i felt a hard lump just above. Gave him a soak and i could see he was struggling to pass it so i massaged where the lump was and out came a hard urate plus a lot of runny poo. Problem is i think he has another hard urate stuck in there. Put fresh water in the tub and massaged the same spot but some blood came out instead. Ill be phoning the vets tmorr, but just wondering if you can offer some advice in regards to hydration. While he was in the bath the first time he took a big drink. If i incresase the fluids and increase the greens willl that help soften the urate? He is a rescue and came from a bad home, who fed him on fruit and gave him calcium baths every 2 days. Should i stop the calcium for a few days?
My beardie has coccidia which she’s been on albon suspension three times and just got switched to ponazuril. She just had a prolapse yesterday, got stitches and reprolapsed today with the stitches. I called the vet and they said at this point the best option is to put her down. Shes 6 months old and been sick with coccidia since I’ve had her. We have the most amazing bond and I can’t accept that putting her down is the only option. Is there anything else I can do?
If it goes back in it is still recommended that you see a vet. With your situation I understand that you are still in lock down. Has your beardie recently prolapsed?
@@CookiesCritters it happened today and your video helped and he managed to squeeze a small amount of feces out without prolapsing again so I’m unsure on what to do

So from what I can tell, my male dragon is not having a prolapse. I took him into the vet and the vet said, the cloaca appears to be just extremely inflamed…… she gave me an anti inflammatory and I have some tramadol meant for bearded dragons. I did notice that some clear liquid that smelled like fecal came out. Is this something I may need antibiotics for?

Does that mean that mine does have this because mine was bleeding from now but I’m peeing be bleeding P from the butt to and he now he’s not bleeding anymore but he is it still sore down there a little bit and it we put Vaseline on their cell and we’re going to the vet on Tuesday

If you buy from a reputable breeder it is a great start. Having the right enclosure setup and diet are the most important things once you commit to buying a bearded dragon. Are you worried about medical issues like this prolapse?
I personally wait a few days for the swelling to go down first. When you do introduce food again, make sure you start with food that are easy to digest such as their leafy greens. After they open their bowel without prolapsing, I would slowly introduce insect again. Make sure that they are well hydrated at all times too.
My bearded dragon’s cloaca area is really swollen and brown, it’s hard as a rock and she freaks out when it’s touched and I can’t find anything online about it does anybody here know what’s going?
This video was very helpful and informative. My gravid hypo wero dragon ($1000.00 lizard) was prolapsed for possibly a day or two in her lay bin full of sand and vermiculite. Thank goodness I noticed it whilst I was setting up and re-organizing my reptiles enclosures. I was beyond stressed and upset! I had no clue what to do and remembered The Incredible Dr. Pol treating prolapsed cows with cold water and a shot of liquid calcium, but cows are mammals and lizards are reptiles obvi. I then stumbled across your video via google and it amazingly worked! I will be heading to my exotic vet tomorrow morning to see what the next procedure will be. I’m praying that she will not need surgery and will be fine with some antibiotics to combat any potential bacterial infections as well as being able to safely lay her eggs. When you think you’ve got it all figured out, you sure don’t! Other than being gravid, my second guess would be her diet of mealworms, or thirdly she is low on vitamin d3/D though my UVB output is 14% desert and I allow my dragons to bask in the natural sun frequently. I doubt she is impacted because she is kept in a customer built enclosure with either news paper or packing paper for easy clean up, and whilst gravid they tend not to eat much or at all. Otherwise, how often do you recommend dusting food with Vit D3? My dragons are fed dark leafy greens daily, and occasionally yellow squash, bell peppers, cilantro, dandelion greens, and turnip and mustard greens.
Hi there. I hope your little on is doing better after the vet visit. Did she need surgery? We supplement with calcium carbonate every 2nd insect feed. Gravid females we supplement every insect feed as egg production extracts calcium from their bones. Meal worms or dehydration can cause impaction. If the bugs aren’t fed a quality diet, they can be nutrient void and dangerous. I’m glad the treatment in my video helped and I would love to hear how she is doing. Thanks. Ian

I’m glad your little one didn’t prolapse. The clear fluid is usually wet urine rather than a solid urate. Generally due to stress or nerves.
My beardie has liquid blood, and orange/tan-ish liquid coming out of his vent.
Any idea what it could be?

I just want to be safe do you have to use a specific Suger and if you do what kind is it and how much Suger do I need I would really appreciate the help
Just ordinary white sugar. You add as much sugar until the sugar will no longer dissolve. This could be 500-2kg depending on the volume of water used.

Yes any sugar will do the job. The sugar solution is very concentrated, so you will use quite a bit
Ok thx
