- We spent a wonderful week traveling to the Oregon Coast and enjoying the tide pools and other features of this amazingly beautiful country. Our hotel room had a great view of the ocean and we loved watching the the coastline change between high and low tides.

I spent several days on the Isle of Skye, Scotland this past November. This video of the tidal pools remind me very much of the coastline there. Cold water but the tidal pools had more life in them than a lot of areas in the Caribbean I’ve been to.
We were there in June and saw whales passing close by! Wish I could show you my photo of the lighthouse and wildflowers everywhere on a sunny day. Thank you for bringing us with you!
Thankful you shared the trip with us. We lived on a waterfront property for many years & so miss no longer being there. We are now only 20 minutes from the Coast so we can visit the beach and we will settle for that. I had a smile the entire time watching your visit. Yes, we love the water. We were also at the Oregon coast last weekend, from Idaho, only we were on the northern side. It’s so calming and beautiful, never enough time there!
Did you see the articulated skeleton of the harbor porpoise? It was hanging from the ceiling to the right when you were talking to the young woman at the front desk. I put that all together in 1986 or so when I was at Portland State University finishing up my masters in Biology. I was also on the Oregon Marine Mammal Stranding team. The most notable recovery was cutting up the remains of a sea lion that had washed ashore up in Seaside after coming in and out for a couple of weeks. It was well into decomposition and talk about smell. It took forever to get it moved up the slope to the two pickup trucks because we were going to be taking it up the coast to Coast Guard base where it was buried. We had to be so careful because of the storm driven waves washing up so one person stood guard to yell to the others to get back. Anyway, thanks for showing this and bringing back some great memories. I have always wondered if my skeleton was still hanging up there. Oh, and the seals were in the middle of the right side at 8:19 but they might be sea lions. Can't see them very well.

Have you ever considered using hiking/trekking sticks? People of all ages use them. They’re great when you’re navigating uneven or unstable ground like that rock beach or taking a trail. The sticks give you better stability because you always have three points on the ground. I have two pairs and they’re both very light weight. I keep the collapsible set in my vehicle with my emergency supplies.
Hiking sticks will not work on those rocks even YOUNG people fall on those rocks.
@@chh6195They will work if you use the appropriate base tip for the terrain. If you don’t, the sticks aren’t as effective. I’ve walked on rocky beaches with and without my sticks. It’s definitely easier with the sticks and using wide non-sinking bases.

Yes, welcome to Oregon! I live a couple hours from the Oregon Coast & my father in law lives there. We are there often & love it each & everytime.
This video made my day! For 2 years of my childhood, in the 70s, I lived in Oregon an hour from the coast where we visited frequently. Oh, how I miss the smell, sounds, and sights of the Oregon Coast! Thank you for the little taste of precious childhood memories!

You might want to research actually living there, there is no sales tax, but the other taxes are very high and there are a lot of rules, which you may or may not like.

Thanks so much for taking us with you! I grew up on the Southern Oregon coast. I live in Texas now and really miss the Pacific Ocean. The fish and chips brought back many memories of making it for my families restaurant there on the coast. Looking forward to your next video.
Welcome to Oregon! Our coast is uniquely beautiful. And the Marion Berries are 😋. I ran a load through the freeze dryer this summer so we can snack on them year round. The rest went into pie filling and jam. Yum!

I missed the greenery when we lived in Idaho. We were right at the edge of the desert. I will say I did like going to Oregon and Washington State. It was wonderful to visit the area when I had military family support meetings. But the coast was always chilly.

What a great trip!! During Covid I traveled to CA to see my brother. All rest area bathrooms were closed. I bought a foldable camping potty. This past summer we traveled from Las Vegas to Olympic National Forest and then down the Oregon Coast to the CA Redwoods. We also traveled secondary roads. Nevada does not have a lot of rest areas and some are not as clean as they could be. Thank goodness I insisted on taking the camping potty and that we were on isolated roads when it was needed.

I live in OR and haven't been to the coast in a while, so it was nice to watch your video. Pretty much always foggy on the coast. I've done long rides in some western states, you definitely get gas every time you see a station. My trip to take a small cooler with you. Fill it with bottled water, fruit and have some other snacks. You spend less money and eat a bit better. Always have a blanket in the car.

Another gloriously beautiful trip. Thank you for taking us along! I have never been to that part of country, so I enjoy seeing it through others' eyes. The tidal pool was awesome! And the ocean view! ❤ The only one that I've seen that could beat that was in Hawaii'.

We took our kids (we have 5) to the Marine Science Center at least once a year. It’s more affordable than taking them next door to the aquarium!

If you are going separate places, it is nice to have handheld radios. At our age, if we separate we worry that if one of us falls, we would not be able to contact the other. Or if we change plans and want to take a trail the other one can go to the car. Since I have been walking roads lately, I contact my husband to tell him where to pick me up.
The plant you did not know the name of is a sedum I think. In Dutch we call it “hemelsleutel” which translates to heaven’s key or key to heaven. That is in a way what both your channels are to me; sanity, safety, wholesomeness, healthy adults. It is what I lacked most of my life. You two pair it with the joyfulness, curiosity and wonder of children. Any new video on either channel takes me to a happy place. Thank you.

Ohhhh, so lovely!! The ocean draws many to it. On the east coast, we are about a 20-minute drive away to beauty and the majesty of what seems me to be "Creation."
Pam, I've noticed that I had a tendency to be a bit wobbly on my feet. The Dr suggested that I bounce. While holding onto a chair or table, lift both of my heels and lower them repeatedly for about three minutes. Then, hold up one leg (still holding on) and stand. Let go of the chair and stand. If I start to wobble, the chair or table is right there. Switch legs and repeat. I have gotten a bit more agile since starting his recommendations. Your counter would be a great spot to get started. I am at the point where I can bounce without tilting. Sounds nutty, I know. I don't want to go wobbly and tumble on my bumble. Your shortness of breath tells you. You need to do breathing exercises. You are far too young to go wobbly and be out of breath on a walkabout. Deep breaths in count to 10 hold till count of 10 and release to count of 10, rinse and repeat. Hold onto a chair or table while standing and do deep breathing exercises it will increase your lung capacity over time. Security, safety, and preparedness aren't just for food. It is the entire YOU that counts. Oh goodness, I don't want to come across as rude. If so, I apologize wholeheartedly. I care about you two. You're part of my cyber family. ❤

My mother had therapy like that for her balance. She broke her hip years ago and one of the many things that comes up for balance is walking barefoot as often as you can (even if it's just in small spurts). It strengthens your ankles, better than any ortho shoe, and helps your toes remember how to counter balance...think of a toddler learning how to walk and the way they scrunch their toes for balance. Apparently, wearing shoes makes us wobbly as adults. Who knew? Enjoyed the video - thanks for taking us along!
I left a similar comment except I suggested a rebounder (mini trampoline) with a sturdy handle. Bouncing is a perfect gentle exercise and easy on joints! 🙏✌️💝

My son and daughter and friends were at the Newport aquarium just yesterday! Always a nice trip! The coast's weather is always a surprise and it's good to pack layers and always carry a windbreaker/rain jacket!
Suggestion for balance on unsteady turf, and general fitness at any age: get a rebounder (mini trampoline) with a sturdy handle, and bounce gently on it for 1-5 mins a couple times per day! Since all fitness and muscle building & maintenance involves defying gravity, the rebounder is perfect without straining joints. Builds balance quickly! You'll be amazed! It's also essential to keep the lymphatic system in top shape, since it's the only system that doesn't have its own pump!

Thanks for the visit to one of my favourite places on the planet! We’ve stayed at Otter Crest and spent a lot of vacations on the central coast. I love how it rarely changes. Many things there are the same as they were 40 or 50 years ago and I find that so comforting. Sorry you didn’t get any sunshine.

Seeing those warning signs of low land and possible tsunami, reminded me of visiting in Alaska many years ago and the warning signs there, saying you are now leaving the avalanche area, I never noticed the signs saying you are entering the avalanche area. Thank you for sharing another great trip!
The parks have metal emblems you can attach to a wooden walking stick. We started collecting them for my husbands wooden walking stick and it is so much fun. We found quite a few on the Oregon coast at ranger stations and visitors centers and then using the walking stick made walking easier too.

I live in Oregon and stay quite often in the condominiums in Depot Bay. I love the Oregon coast, but you must be careful there. Depot has resident whales that are their year-round so it’s fun to be able to sit in your room and watch them. The marine museum is a wonderful place to visit. I recommend it for all families, especially with children.
