There is a glitch where after unlocking a character you have what I assume is one frame where you can go to a locked tile on the map. I tested and it works on the switch version and most likely the PS4 version too, I used it to skip to insane mode before beating normal mode because normal mode is boring to me unless I'm speedrunning
I played through this game so many times unlocked all of the achievements, characters, weapons, and pets. I've even got a speedrun time of 56:43.692 and yet I've never seen anyone juggle like that, or exploit glitches as well as you. This game has come a long way.
There are some cool skips in the other categories like any% NG+ and any% NMG where you can skip the Dragon and industrial machine bosses, and skipping triggering the cutscene on alien ship

There is RNG on almost all stages, sometimes all the enemies will walk into your juggle and sometimes they will just scatter and make it take longer to kill. Final Boss one of the most consistent stages

Yeah it was a horrible medusa fight but this isn't even the world record run anymore, I have a better run that probably has a much better medusa, but I don't even like any% that much. NG+ is my favorite since the beginning is quicker and you don't do the skip to Pirate ship
What would be the best choice for a new player to pick out of the starting lineup, I'm flying solo for my run and ne'er played before, any recommendations or advice is welcomed.
I would just say go with what you want, for your first time I would recommend putting a few points into defense since each point of it gives +28 health and a small amount of resistance to attacks, it will really help so you won't be dying a only a few hits. But I believe strength is the most valuable since its the fastest way to kill regular enemies, but you won't be getting much xp since you get xp based on amount of times you hit an enemy before it dies. Magic is good if you have a good magic character. Agility helps with juggling which is how you beat insane mode

Ik this is an pretty old video but if anyone happens to see this, what happened at 16:50? Corn boss takes a bunch of damage upon coming up and I can't figure out how. (I'm thinking of finally speedrunning this game)
This happens when an enemy is at the origin point of the level and you use the heavy dash at the same Y axis as the enemy. This occurs because the heavy dash animation is bugged where it checks for melee hits during the entire animation even on frames where there is no punch hitbox defined which allows you to hit enemies at the origin point of the level while you are at any X position as long as you are at the same Y axis of the enemy. If you are lucky and the Corn Boss never blocks you will stay in the dash animation until you are knocked out of it. The reason you stay in the dash animation is because you are constantly hitting the enemy. This will keep resetting your "float_timer" which is applied to the player after most melee attacks in the air meaning you will never hit the ground until the enemy moves away from the origin point.
What was goin on with the Corn Boss dude? Why did he randomly take loads of damage upon emerging? And what was up with the final phase of the Evil Wizard? Also how sore was your thumb after this lol
The route has changed since then, I use red knight for the category now since there was a new tactic for getting xp on the pirate ship and desert and because his weapon has crit chance
I went speedrun yesterday with 100% completion in 3 hours. Sadly I don't know how to record a speedrun like u, like people who speedruns. Anyway I love the technique on how u do juggling. U use the combo x-y then just y y y y until the time u should go up again and use the x-y combo. And I guess it's not the only way u used, right? I wanna try that
Hmm I think I can do it faster. Since what I maxed out is Magic then Agility, but I don't really use magic that much. I killed buddies by juggling. But for boss, ofc I did magic spam. Should do it again with maxed Strength
I chose him for his +1 strength starting weapon, but it doesn't really matter who you pick since you can pick up the pitchfork at the very beginning which has +1 strength as well. World Record was done using blue knight which is probably better since you can get more xp on the first wave of Barbarians before picking up the pitchfork, giving you a better chance of leveling up before Barbarian War.

The character unlock screen can let you walk onto a locked level of you are moving that direction before the unlock screen goes away

Strength is always the best option for speedruns, also pink knight and blacksmith are only allowed in the Any% NG+ category
