- Interesting test with a broken ring. Once I completed the ring by holding the two ends together, the depth increased from 3.5 inches to 7 inches. I did this test with an MXT and an earring about a year ago, but the results where no where near as great because the MXT could only detect the earring at 2 inches.
Thats one thing I really like about this hobby, I feel I'm always finding something new or different.
Just got my Compadre , Exellent Video always great to learn new things great video .
Had Compadre out for a walk today i find that it picks u newer coins dimes 5 cent piecess and pennies very well but the ground In the tot lot and a the baseball field is still frozen in areas and is very sandy and wet and lots of pee gravel around the ball field so not a lot of depth . Its great to know about the ring . Im not one for the air tests but with the Compadre I believe from what I have heard and seen it is a must if not to just learn the sounds of the Compadre .thx Again
I really like my 5.75" Compadre - a lot! If the 8" coil version performs as well, with added depth, it's a winner. I'll probably pick one up this summer.
@Bhaalian After I tweaked my Compadre, it will hit a dimeat 6". Out of the box it will go to 5". That may not sound like much, but remember, 90 - 95% of good targets are within 5" in most areas. This detector is sharp, accurate, and deep enough to get you excellent results. My oldest coin to date is a 1786 NJ Copper. It was only about 4" down. Well within the reach of a Compadre.
Great air test thx!
This is some good info.... thanks man....one
Very interesting. Thank you.
Oh okay thank you so much!
Well, somewhat. The "DD" coil is less effected from highly minerialized soil then a concentric. The best way to negate the effect of high mernerialized soil is to get a detector, like a Vaquero, that allows you to ground balance.
Nice video. You can do a search on youtube for the videos of Norfolk Wolf, he included recovery tests at the end of most of his reviews of metal detector.
This actually happens with a lot of detectors, however if you went with a different coil it would pick up at greater depth because concentric coils works better on close loop objects better than broken objects like rings and pull tabs andYou have a concentric coil.
Nice vid, was thinking of a compadre as my first detector but unsure what depths it can detect at, or maybe a cibola, can't find any good depth tests in actual soil for it, I seen u can get the cibola to over twelve inches with super tuning it just wondered how the compadre would perform in deep depths hh :))
@NJDartman - Good question. The results are the same in Disc mode or All Metal.
Very informative, Mike. Hey, are you going to get a 8 inch Compadre? HH
interesting !
Is it from the coil though? do coils make it hard to go in high mineralized soil if it is can we change it?
interesting vid mate I'm considering this machine with 5.75 coil what's it like on depth with coins and jewellery will it do 6 inches? Thanks
im thinking about getting this one the price is great i was wondering is it good for any kind of area like dry dirt parks sand
I find it great in most if not all soil conditions. The only thing you need to watch is hunting in high mineralized soil. You'll loose some depth.
Bought the 8 inch coil, better depth
