  • It’s the finale of our van duel. The safes have been removed so they’ve got a spring back in their step. But just how quick are they? A timed lap will decide the winner, provided they’ve still got some juice in the batteries. Then it’s decision time, which has performed best overall?

    I really hope this series can continue with all EV Vans, like the upcoming ID Buzz, to the Renault Kangoo and Citroen Berlingo. Even older examples that can be bought for second hand.

    Lijkt me vrij gevaarlijk oversteken bij een kruispunt als je ziet hoe ze de 0-30 km/h doen.

    They only do 75mph? That'll be no good for white van man who sits doing 85+ in the outer lane

    Been driving an eTransporter since June 2021 and it’s perfect for my needs on a short route.
    It has the electrics of a Golf, but VW will have much more data from throwing them out on a cheap lease like mine to help them improve the next gen products like the ID Buzz which will be manufactured in-house, unlike these which leave the production lines with diesel engines and are then converted by ABT.

    Sticking with my Vito 113 diesel for now it seems, yikes at the short autonomy and prices

    The E Transporter is less than a token effort. It’s technically an aftermarket conversion by AbT. It’s a basic electric motor with a very dated battery pack. The Buzz Cargo is tough tint a 1 ton capacity @ 250 miles of usable range with 200 BHP which would make it as powerfully as the most powerful T6.1.

    • @joenest2122
      @joenest2122 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you sure about that? Everything I've read says the ID Buzz Cargo will have a 600-650kg capacity. No good for most van drivers. Even the electric Vivaro/Expert etc. has about a one tonne payload.

    • @Olliebobalong
      @Olliebobalong 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joenest2122 well no, look up the facts and figures yourself. The idea of the ID buzz Cargo is that is powerful, fast and has decent range and towing validity with a “affordable” price. Minus the ID Buzz passenger version which will cost upwards of £45k, the ID cargo should be affordable. The electric PSA vans have a trade off in performance and real world range.

      @@importanttingwei7747 Really? Possibly Dolphin might realise it was a sarcastic joke!
      But on the point of cargo. Maybe you could explain how 20mph uphill (loaded) is a safe or reasonable proposition for any driver on a main road?

    Compare with something like a Vauxhall vivaro e or something that was designed to be an EV van. I've seen real world reviews of the VW and it's terrible in cold weather. Lose range and slow to heat up. Way too expensive for what it is.

      Usually on the 80 to 100 km/h roads is where I enjoy running out the first and second gear completely (record on the clock is 95 km/h in second gear) 😂 more fun than speed
      Probably close to 90 km/h GPS

      There’s a reason the AA and RAC still use diesel vans, but that doesn’t mean the eTransporter is utterly useless.
