It only does 46miles on Full charge - don’t be conned by them ! First change showed me 56miles now after about 10charges it only shows 46miles after charge over night .
Thanks for the info. I was very close to getting one. The range is the only negative for me. Range I’m sure, will be less as carrying weight on a daily basis surely will reduce it
The love for VW products in the UK is a joke 😂 I don't know why other manufacturers bother when so many have a fetish for the brand. This van could be actual cat turd on wheels people would still idolise it just because of its badge. Anyway couldn't watch more than two minutes of this video as the presenter was getting far too excited about that front end design
Tom here: That's consumerism for you. Sorry you didn't like my enthusiasm for the van's looks. If you'd stuck it out you could have seen the driving bit where I reconcile my feelings about the van and who would drive it. It's not for everyone.
@@vanaramauk fair enough. I just don't get the hype for VAG products, I really like the Golf 7.5 looks but it is so bland in every other respect I just couldn't get myself to own one. I have owned two VW products in the past and hated they both. I'm really glad the love for VW is purely a UK and German thing, imagine if the rest of the world were the same and we all drove VWs and Audis
As I don’t do many miles a day I’m really tempted by one as not to expensive. How are you getting on with yours? By the sounds of it you need more batteries 😬
80 mile range is not enough, nor is that power. It needs twice the range and 50% more power. Presently this can’t be used on motorways with any confidence.
Tom here: Absolutely. But as I say in the review, VW are calling this a last-mile delivery solution for those wanting the VW premium feel with an electric van. It's not for everyone.
I’m puzzled that the automatic drive stick letters (P, R, N, D) are on the opposite side from the driver. So I actually can’t see the letters when I’m driving.
Hmmm Tom , good review, but you didn’t cover nearly anything that would persuade eco van drivers in the city , I really like this van , and it’s cheap now , but winter 🥶 🔋 or summer when your running air conditioning etc 🔋🔋 I’m tempted but not sold yet Anyway I like your channel 👍
Have one and it will only do 55 max, also very dangerous as it stopped dead in the middle of a busy road and lights going of all over the dash and it completely locked up in P would not move for 35 minutes, if I was on motorway I would not like to think what could have happened.
I have one t5 diesel it's great van but as for electric the range must be at list 400 klm any thing under this I don't think is good withy t5 I drive between 250 klm to 480 per day so in this case electric is no good
@@vanaramauk advanced but doesn't justify the cost. The mile/kw figures aren't really out there in comparison to the competition. It is interesting how poor electric vans are in comparison to electric car counterparts.
Tom here: You shouldn't be. It's a premium van so they tend to throw them on. Check out the mid spec of other vans - rear parking sensors aren't a given.
Tom here: I'm on the record as saying the Transporter is my favourite van. I also say in the review that this van isn't for everyone. VW themselves are calling it a last-mile delivery van. It's a step for VW - they're behind other manufacturers - but some people will find the range suits them fine.
80 miles with no load / 56mph ,with no load , and your more excited about steel wheels and sun shade. can we be more honest , i konw dont bite the hand that feeds you. 0-58 in 16 sec . with no load,
The practicality of this van is a joke, couple of builders did a video and they were literally getting 50 miles out of the full charge. absolutely useless

For a 24 month lease @ £180/month it's a good deal saving at least that on fuel and road tax for the average van driver.
Tom here: Absolutely. It's a great deal. Money saved is definitely a key reason to consider one.
Think I will hold on to my 2018 dsg 4motion 204

Has any one added extra battery for more range as I’ve just bought one
As I don’t do many miles a day I’m really tempted by one as not to expensive. How are you getting on with yours? By the sounds of it you need more batteries 😬
The front dash that slopes/recesses is ideal for important docs/notices notebooks an it not sliding all over your window

A trick: you can watch series on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching loads of movies these days.
@Jackson Louie yea, I have been using flixzone for years myself :D
They need to extend the range before they expect people to buy one
Good job it looks good you’ll be spending a lot of time looking at it waiting for it to charge up 80 miles 😫🤣🤣🤣
Tom here: Probably not. You'll most likely drive during the day and charge up overnight.
I’m puzzled that the automatic drive stick letters (P, R, N, D) are on the opposite side from the driver. So I actually can’t see the letters when I’m driving.
Christian’s Garage has a lot more insightful review of this van…the ABT link seemed odd and there’s a good explanation!
Great review. Pitty you didn't had the 80mph version. It's in 60 or 80 available.

I am about to buy one, and I reckon I will avoid the service plan... see me in 10 years time if you want a good t6.1

That's pretty disturbing. Got it sorted?
An ABT branded Transporter? Please tell me I'm dreaming.
Tom here: No, pinch yourself. You're very much awake!

Wow those engineers really stretched themselves with this bad boy!
Tom here: Well, yeah. The ABT power train alone is some of the most advanced tech... if only the battery was bigger, eh?

Put them on the rack and stretch back to engine
13:42- I don't like the idea of the cables under the passenger seat. I'd rather not sit on any cables. Nice van though,
OMG.Reverese parking sensors. Am totally shocked.

Same range of a second hand 10 year old env200 but 30 grand more and he's praising it
Sad
