  • NAFLD or Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease is on the rise in America with over 100 million people suffering from this disease. What’s even scarier is that you could have NAFLD without even knowing it. This disease can affect so many functions of the body and eventually lead to some serious complications. With a disease that’s becoming increasingly prevalent in every day Americans, it is essential that you are able to recognize the warning signs of NAFLD and begin to take action in preventing, and in some cases, reversing NAFLD.

If you have been diagnosed with fatty liver.......don't panic too much! I completely reversed mine in a few months. I went scorched earth on it and cut out red meat, alcohol, sugar, carbs, bread, basically everything that is bad for your body. I started doing intermittent fasting 16:8 and I started eating waaaay more vegetables and salads. All of my blood work numbers dropped dramatically and my last test all numbers were normal. I could tell a difference in my health in just 2 or 3 months when I started eating clean. I had already been exercising for years so I was a little surprised that I developed fatty liver as I was not big at all. I haven't drank soda or sugary drinks for years. I think it just built up over time from a bad diet and alcohol on the weekends (mostly beer). I feel so much better now that my liver is normal and I have a lot more natural energy. Anyway you have to change your diet and eat cleaner and you have to cut waaaaay down on the alcohol. For sure you don't want it progressing to cirrhosis of the liver. That is not reversible.
Edit: For those wondering how I cut down on alcohol. I did it with non-alcohol beer. Some of them have a tiny amount of alcohol, like .05 but it didn't seem to affect anything and I limited it to 2 drinks at a time. At least I got the taste of beer and at parties I just brought my own in a cooler.

    • @boobo
      @boobo 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Beer is really worst kind of alcohol. It is starter point for metabolic disease. But kinda sneaks in backwards, by the time you see it in bloodwork it already fucked up your liver.

That's really good to know. I am not over weight but I didn't eat well, nor did I exercise. I just found out my liver is swollen as well as my gal bladder. The doctor said it was fatty liver.
I was asking the doc what to do about it, do I eat better? What do I eat? Well she basically said "Eat better" and quickly rushed me off the phone....sigh. Now I am scrambling to figure out what to do. I started to exercise but I will take it further and cut out sugar.
Do you know any good sources or places that list what I should or should not be eating? Because my doctor told me nothing.

  • @dlkacz

I had a fatty liver diagnosis a couple of years ago due to my blood work coming back with high counts. An imaging test showed it and once that was found, I went to work doing some investigating on how to reverse it. My downfall was sugar. Being that I quit smoking 30 years ago, I picked up a sugar addiction. Not good. I cut all desserts and sweets of any kind from my diet, went on a strict beans, greens, fish & chicken diet. Even my pizza is a Veggie pizza. Now I'm 70lbs lighter which is the weight I was 33 years ago when I got married and feeling fantastic. My "go-to" favorite dinner that I serve twice a week is my 4-Bean soup. I might also add the spouse, after seeing the weight fall off, joined me and lost the 50lbs. he gained after we married.
Dr. Taz, I'm behind you 150% with your suggestions. Just change your diet. 😉

Apart from staying away from sugar and alcohol, also make sure you get your lipid profile into shape. And if you have an abnormal thyroid profile, work on that too. And yes... exercise! If nothing else, just walk for 30 minutes in the morning and evening.

I'm pretty sure a combination of early onset perimenopause, and chronic high BP (probably due to anxiety) was what caused mine... My BMI is 21.5, and after blood work, and pain for quite a while - I was given imaging, and diagnosed with NAFLD.
I'm trying to work on losing the belly pooch that appeared the last 3 years, working out every day without fail, not particularly trying to lose weight, just shift the fat/muscle ratio.
Thank you for the tips! It wasn't even so much that I have eaten a terrible diet, but went through long periods of stress that I barely ate at all, (stress related, not ED related) so have some nutritional deficiencies that are in the process of being balanced out. Wishing for the best, I still don't feel well the last few years, but when the Hashimoto's goes undetectable on blood work, it correlates exactly with feeling better. So, working to manage that from flaring up, as well.

I’ve been having that little aching pain in that area of my abdomen for months- I ignored it because I have had so many other things going on … with four family members passed away this year + my senior dog- most recently I was caring for my grandmama when her breast cancer metastasized to her brain and my family and I made pacts to take our health more seriously. I had also ignored it because I have anxiety, and it seems like so often when I bring a concern to a physician… that will get brought up, and it feels like they are condescending to me because I have an anxiety diagnosis in my chart. I promised my aunt I would bring it up to my doctor to be on the safe side- my us indicated a fatty liver and some stuff and a part they couldn’t see and my AST/ALT/ and glucose were elevated, so that progressed me to a CT. I’m looking at the CT report tonight- and it says … basically there is a hyper dense area that is difficult to obtain images of and my spleen is borderline enlarged. I don’t know if it is too late to reverse damage for me, but I’m going to try my hardest- that is what my grandma would have wanted me to do. She isn’t here to nag me about taking better care of myself.. and I really miss that… so I’m going to nag myself in her honor ❤
    Thanks for the video!

Found out that I had it when was having gall bladder pain and went in for an ultrasound. Also have a lesion on my liver and still waiting to find out what that is all about. Since cutting out caffeine altogether and trying to reduce the amount of sugar intake and reducing milk consumption, at least my gall bladder pain seems to have dissipated. Supplements don't really do any good! It's all abt eating less to no carbs... any form of rice & bread, potatoes, pastries, pasta & pizza- anything with grains & starch to it... avoid it cuz they all transform into glucose & frustose & stored in ur liver... i sacrificed eating just meats & beef liver (superfood) & used olive oil instead of all those industrialized seed oils like canola, vegetable, corn, peanut, saffron oils for frying.. my AST has gone down from 100 to within the normal range in abt 2mos... this may sound crazy to u but animal fat like ghee or bacon grease are much healthier than those seed oils i have mentioned. I am not overweight, I don’t drink alcohol or soda/sugary drinks. I don’t eat gluten, and I do eat lots of fruit. My diet doesn’t have enough vegetables. I do take a lot of anti inflammatory medication. My liver enzymes are perfect. My cholesterol and blood sugar are normal and had always been normal.

Reduce your fruit intake - completely. Glucose and fructose are the two worst damaging components to the liver (outside of alcohol). Fat isn't actually a contributor - except trans fats (which are carcinogens anyway).

17 cm isn't alarming. But you need to cut down on the fats, alcohol and sugar you consume (don't touch anything with sugar even with a barge pole). Give it 3 months and you should be fine.

I used to eat tons of pizza but have cut way back on that. I also take a vitamin D/C/zinc supplement, glucosamine/chondroitin/msm for my knee, and I drink a supposedly healthier energy drink that has 200 grams of caffeine 4 times a week. You can still overeat or eat too much of certain foods. I’m big into exercise too and it’s preventing many issues but I have to be honest, I eat a fair amount of dark chocolate.
My BMI is well within the normal range but I’m going to take this seriously.
Exercise is awesome but it only takes 5 minutes to negate a days work eating pizza!

My son just got diagnosed with an enlarged liver. He is 41, 6 ft tall and 315 pounds. He has started exercising and used to weigh 350. Is it too late for him to reverse his fatty liver condition by exercising, watching his diet and dropping his weight? Also can you suggest a good meal planner/cookbook that he could follow to help him get on the right track.

Can you follow one simple formula.
Have only fruits in breakfast 8am-12pm, weight of fruits after peel off should be 1% of body weight.
2nd raw vegetables/salad, like cucumber, capsicum, brocakly means whatever he can have in raw form. Have in same quantity 1% of body weight
It would be too much so have half portion before hving lunch. Half portion before having dinner. There are chances that he will full after hving salad only. That's absolutely fine. Main food is just for the taste of toynge it dosent help.
And during this diet no non-veg allowed. Not even milk products like milk curd cheese
He will be absolutely fine in 3 months, it's my guarantee
