    the exact video I needed. I just didn’t know where to get started or what to look for in different devices. Can’t explain how appreciative I am for an easy to understand video like this

    I purchased a Yamaha AV RX-V665 receiver in 2010 along with a Klipsch Synergy 7.1 speaker system. Connected was my 55' VIZIO TV that I also purchased in 2010. Recently my Yamaha AV RX-V665 receiver stopped working. It will not even turn on. So I went to Best Buy and talked with a Geek Squad technician. I was told that I should go with the Denon AVR-S970H A/V receiver because of the equipment that I need to have connected, which is a Music Hall USB-1 turntable, two Tascam CD player/recorders which I use to record CDs digitally, a Pioneer RT-1020L reel to reel tape deck, a Dish Network DVR, and I had have my PC desktop connected to my 55" VIZIO TV using it as a computer monitor. I hope I made the right decision in purchasing the Denon AVR-S970H A/V receiver. Best Buy Geek Squad is going to deliver and install next week What is your thoughts ?

      It should handle those, but it does not have a tape monitor out for recording to your RT1020. Hope you enjoy the Denon

    What is a surround sound processor? And how is it a separate component? How do you connect that to an old stereo amp?

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Imagine a home theater receiver with no speaker connections. That is what a surround sound processor is. You then need separate power amps for a complete system. Thanks for watching

    • @justincrossley1913
      @justincrossley1913 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Processor are very expensive monoprice has a really nice model not to expensive but you can buy a receiver with pre outs to a power amplifier some have pre amp mode setting for hooking up a power amplifier you can buy a used power amplifier save some money put towards better speakers

  • @jamegumb7298
    @jamegumb7298 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    What when you need it compact? Say 2U. What options are there, if any? Just 1 hdmi in, 1 hdmi out, maybe 2 in, 1 for the console. But preferably just usb, saves a lot of hassle. Just 4.0, 4.0.2 would be nice.

    what a great video! you really touched on a lot of topics while not getting so deep in the weeds that a novice's eyes would cross. Also if your employees are actually fluent on all of your products enough that they can talk to you on that detailed of a level then that is very impressive. You will not find that level of expertise at big box stores. 10/10

    This is probably a stupid question but I'm a noob at this stuff. I have a really old sherwood 7.2 amp with an old hdmi input. Is it possible for it to output Dolby atmos?

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are no stupid questions in this great hobby! Unfortunately, the answer is no. You would need a new Dolby Atmos receiver. Please feel free to reach out to our team at www.audioadvice.com to help with finding the best one for you. Thanks for watching

      @Audio Advice is there one you could recommend at a super low budget. And please don't say I'll also need new speakers lol. I'm guessing there's not a straight forward answer for that.

    Great video. Great info. What’s your opinion on plugging the receiver directly into a wall outlet vs. using a surge protector? I’ve been reading a lot of conflicting info/opinions that a surge protector will limit dynamics and power of the receiver vs. going straight into the wall which will give you less distortion and cleaner power.

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much! That is a great question. Some surge protectors do limit current. With the huge variability in how much current different models/brands draw, you would want to make sure the surge system you used did not limit your receiver. And some surge protectors even clean up the power while not really limiting current, but some of those cost more than a typical receiver. It is best just to check the specs and be sure, or always remember to unplug your receiver when thunderstorms pop up. Thanks for watching

    I want mx180 and doesn't have enough hdmi they short changed on this new model. How do we do in this case thank you

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the new one has 5 inputs and 2 outs while the MX170 had 8 in and 4 outs. Some people will use their TV to connect their gaming consoles and send the uncompressed audio back down the eARC connection, but that does not help with a projector. There are some standalone video switchers we have used in the past. Thanks for watching

    Why are you talking about 8k when you know damn well there's no such format available so there's no "8k" signal to get passed smh

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It more about the benefits that come with HDMI 2.1 (which supports 8K) for high refresh rates in gaming, there is plenty of that out now and more coming. Plus if you do purchase an 8K TV even though there is no content, it upscales the source to 8K and seeing that is very impressive. Thanks for watching
