    I have used a laser tape measure to get the speaker distance from the seating positions, this works too!! Great content as always though!

      Does it? Surely not if the angle isn't perpendicular... (angle of reflection equals the angle of incidence).
      Is it working because of non-flat surfaces scattering light?
      I have one, and shall try it. 🤔

    It is so true what you said at the start. The company that installed my home theater (using in-wall speakers) placed the center speaker above the projection screen, right up at the ceiling level. So, now I get reflected center channel all of the time. Dialog never sounds like it is coming from the screen... and there's nothing I can do about it.

      Thanks for sharing and we appreciate you watching. You could try putting some 1" think absorptive acoustic material on the ceiling

      @@AudioAdvice Thanks. I am going to try that. Previously I used the cheap acoustic foam, which made very little difference.

      @@AudioAdvice I'm wondering... I've seen videos where people set up center and side channels to have a different cross-over, so that the low frequencies move from center to L/R speakers, before the subwoofer...
      How is it possible to measure such a thing to optimal settings?

    What should be volume on the avp while setting speaker level to 75db ?

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really varies with brands and models. Some will default to a good loud level when you engage the test tones and others do not. If you unit does not, turn up the volume on the AVP until you get to about 75db with the test tones playing. Thanks for watching

      @@michaelkreisel3573 When I try to set all the up to 75db the tone level is going up to 6db for front left , right and up to 3db for center . Dolby atmos are going all the way to 8db and surround up to 4db does this sound reasonable???

    • @michaelkreisel3573
      @michaelkreisel3573 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrPreet23 yeah for sure. Remember it’s to your liking too. For instance I turn up my center because sometimes it’s difficult to hear dialogue. And my heights are turned up a bit. I find some movies are just to subtle and I feel I’m more immersed when it’s more noticeable. The point is there’s no right or wrong. But 75db is a good place to start. And depending on your avr you outa have a few save buttons. For instance I have a marantz sr8012 and I can save 4 settings. And I use all 4. One for music. One for dilbybatmos movies, one for Dts movies, and one for 5.1 movies. You mostly gotta watch a movie or listen to music multiple times to find what you like and save

      Great question, it depends a bit on the room and possible speaker layouts, but normally 5.1.4 gives more immersion. Thanks for watching

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You just want to do whatever can get your SPL meter to read around 75dB at what would be a fairly high setting on your volume control. Some AVR's bypass the volume control when you set levels, but some do not. Thanks for watching

    At what volume level should the receiver be and then start measuring until reaching 75db.

    • @AudioAdvice

      Some receivers will default to a high level, if your does not, set the receiver volume to where you want your reference level to be. Thanks for watching

    I did the audyssy to do all the calibration and it set my FL FR to -1.5db and my sub to -3db but I had to turn the volume up so much so I set the FL FR to +1.5db and my sub to +3db and it sounds much better at a lower volume. Is doing that ok?

    I have a Denon Receiver 6700 currently set as 5.1.4 and I would like to add 2 rear surrounds to make it as 7.1.4, all my speakers are rated 6ohms. I have a pair of Denon Speakers 6ohms 60W RMS and 120W Peak that came with my Denon CEOL RCD-N8 Receiver. Now the question is my Denon AV Receiver states the Surround Back output power as 175W + 175W RMS at 6ohms 2ch Driven - is it advisable to connect these pair of CEOL speakers as my Surround Back, will it be a good match - Please Advice. Thank you 😊
