Dean Hardscrabble's admonition that a roar would make a child afraid of snakes cry instead of scream is a clever little reference to Boo from the original film. She was afraid of snakes - that's why Randall was the monster assigned to scare her. And when she saw Sulley roar in the simulator, she didn't scream. She cried. Also, in case it wasn't obvious, Johnny Worthington is the guy who twisted Randall around and made him a glory-obsessed jerk. This is actually expanded on in more depth in Monsters at Work.
It's also cool to note that the original movie ends with the company switching from harvesting screams to harvesting laughs, meaning Mike ends up being the new "scarer" (or "comedian," I guess) that goes into children's bedrooms. The times/culture changed, allowing Mike's unique talents to be appreciated.
I saw this in theaters. When the mom mentioned her tunes, I expected her to play Frank Sinatra or something similar. When the metal started playing, the entire theater busted out laughing and clapping.
For those of us with disabilities, this movie was a refreshing breath of hopefulness. Usually movies go feel-good for abled people and show someone miraculously overcoming their obstacles. This movie shows something more practical, where you live with your obstacles and find a way to live as close as possible to your dream.
exactly, like someone whos totally confined to a wheel chair is never gonna be able to be a world class hurdles racer but there's still soooo many wheelchair accessable sports that mean you can still play and be a part of a team and they could still go to the paralympics and kick ass
In the first task of the Scare Games, on the team that gets disqualified is George Sanderson. He is the monster that gets 23-19d in Monsters Inc. So he gets DQd for using a “childtouch prohibit gel” and then later gets into trouble again for child toys touching him. Nice touch
I love the message of the movie and one we never really get, sometimes you are not good enough or you don't have enough natural talent, and that's okay; there are many other things you can do.
I mean, Mike was talented. He was an awesome coach and was knowledgeable. He simply was chasing the wrong dream. To me, the message of this movie is more about: 1. Finding what you're really good at and working with your strengths, and 2. Persevering even when nobody else believes in you. And 3, I guess: there are other paths to reach your goal if you're humble and determined enough.
SAME. I love this premise. Achieving your dreams just isn't always realistic - but you'll find a way to feel fulfilled anyways. I'm tired of movies where the main character gets what they want at the end even when it's unbelievable and unrealistic. Sometimes I have no idea how the main character won. If the movie ended when Mike's team won the game, I wouldn't have liked this movie as much as I do. This movie made things so interesting.
It's a combination of the insanely high expectations of PIxar fans, and how the first acts of this movie are just generic university movie tropes. It subverts these tropes at the end, and has a really great message and final act. It's overall a good movie, but it's just not that constant concentrated creativity and excitement all the way through, the type of movie pixar became famous for.
I imagine it's *because* of that message that they don't like it. These days, it's become unfashionable to imply that some people aren't meant for some things instead of that they deserve to get what they want simply because they want it
@@NovusIgnisno I think it was the whole trope of college stuff. I’m sure older critics were not into it because they have seen those tropes and stories dozens of times. Including underdog stories and school stories. When this came out I was about to hit collage and I was never into older collage movies but this I got really into. And yes I love the ending. It flips the script for “chase your dreams and they will come true”
Here’s a needless fun fact. I went and counted all the scream canisters that were in the room during the final adult scare. Mike and Sully not only made enough scream to power the door from the other side to the point it exploded, they filled 118 canisters and overpowered the lights on the floor until they popped. And there was STILL excess scream that they couldn’t contain. That’s ALOT of scream these two college freshmen kids made.
It makes sense. As a child, it's easy to be afraid of the dark and the monster under the bed. But you take a group of adults, people who put that fear behind them, convinced themselves that it was silly. Then you prove to them that all those fears are real and right in front of you. Nothing is more terrified than an adult whose nightmares just came true.
As the previous comment said, my understanding is that it's human emotion period which they use to power things, but some of the strongest emotions are fear and laughter. After all, fear taps into the primal instincts of a human and activates that fright/flight response. And laughter is capable of overpowering fear, so it makes sense for it to be stronger, they just never discovered laughter. Anyway, I figured they were able to generate so much power because it's easier to make a child scared than it is to make an adult scared, and not just adults but police. They have literal weapons in their hands, training to defend themselves, and presumably training in not letting their emotions run amok. So they're basically ripe for the picking when it comes to juicing them for their fear, it's just hard to break through the shell to get to the juice inside.
For Randall, I think this film shows more of a step for what would become his rivalry with Sulley, more than the start of his rivalry with Sulley. Randall is established in this movie as someone who really cares about what other people think of him. After Sulley leading to him embarrassing himself, I imagine he would have been even more motivated to prove himself and would have worked especially hard to get his scaring degree. I believe his hatred for Sulley and Mike came once he gets to Monsters Inc. Could you imagine working your tail off to get a degree and getting a job at your dream company, only to find the two people who embarrassed you in college (and were expelled before they ever got a degree) at the top of the employee ladder already, without a degree or all that extra schoolwork? I wouldn’t blame him for hating them either.
Oh for sure it’s makes sense and is super fleshed out. My point is that this whole history and “step” in having a more personal hatred for Sully works just as well as a more traditional motivation like in the original film. Both work extremely well, I just don’t think Randall’s past in MU really improves or detracts from the original character. I always like to see a bit more of a character regardless of whether it isn’t executed the best way, but I could easily understand why some other people would see Randall’s back story and not feel like it was justified enough compared to the more simple motivation he had in the original.
Also, I like how even the beginning subtly shows some mixed-up priorities on Randall's part. He's talking about wanting to get in with the "cool" kids. Sure, wanting to make friends is very natural. But by the time you're in college, being so concerned with being "cool" is pretty immature. It's meant to be a place for young adults, but he's still kinda acting like he's in high school. That alone wouldn't be a big problem, but he proves throughout the film that he's far more concerned with the status social groups bring than actually forming any meaningful connections. So by the time we get to Monster's Inc, it's not too much of a surprise he puts his ambition before anything else. Even any sense of morals, as he has no qualms about using a machine that would kill a child just to get more scream energy, as well as resorting to actual violence against Mike and Sully.
This movie gave a whole new layer to the "What about everything we ever worked for? Does that matter?" fight that they have in the Himalayas, looking how long and how hard they must have worked to get from the bottom to the top, how deeply personal for both of them was trying to get that record. Also I love that you mentioned in your Monsters Inc review about how even with his ego Mike is alright with Sully taking most of the spotlight, because that's basically his arc in this movie.
Dean Hardscrabble was honestly quite an amazing character. She was stern, strict, and steadfast, but not prideful or snobby. She was an interesting authority figure.
Do you remember in the first movie, Randall told Mike, "Do you hear that? It's the winds of change." In Mike's and Randall's dorm you see a poster about the "Winds of Change."
Mike and Sully did something that wa deemed impossible. Scare adults to the point of overloading the door and screams canisters. They literally put them inside a horror movie.
This movie is SOOO underrated out of Pixar’s catalog. I know a lot of people found the college themes not fun, but I did! And the message of the film is SOOO good. That sometimes you can chase after a dream and never be able to fulfill it due to being born different, but that it is okay. And the character origins of all main characters is so good. Mike being a dreamer, sullen being a cocky jock, Randal being a nerd haha. I also love how they make scaring like a science. It’s so interesting! I love this movie and people really don’t give it enough credit.
A detail that I think makes the Randle vs Mike & Sully feud even more deep is that I am sure after the scare games when he Randle lost, his resentment towards the two started but, the thing that I think just added fuel to the fire was that he finished University and get a job at Monsters Incorporated, only to already see Mike & Sully already on the scare floor. He would be so confused on how the two monsters that were kicked out of Uni, got on the scare floor before him
Very good point! To add on what you said, I like to imagine that all that was another factor that made Randall decide to just abduct children and extract scream energies from them. ‘Life’s unfair. These two morons got to be at the top, despite failing spectacularly at the University. All my efforts and the pain I endured at the school were worthless. F*ck being scary and being good at scaring! The only way to win now for me is to just play dirty!’
Fun Fact - In the official dubs of Pixar movies, Pixar's animators often alter textures or the entire models, so that in different countries there could be readable text in a different language. Randal's cupcakes were very tricky to translate, since there was only seven letters available, four of which needed to make out a word for a gag later on... So to fix this issue, internationally the letters on the cupcakes were retextured to be smiley faces instead
Yess. This was always my favourite movie to watch on planes and in those versions it had the smileys on the cupcakes, but when I watched it anywhere else it was the letters and I always wondered why that was. Plus the scene where Mike flexes his exam results to the Roars, in the smiley cupcake version it shows a smiley face on his exam instead of an A+, and Sullie gets a frownie face lol
I remember reading the Japanese dub of Inside Out has green peppers instead of broccoli for baby Riley as kids there generally LOVE broccoli apparently lol.
There is such a great message that this movie portrays. You can do everything right, and still fail. But that's ok, because just because your not good at something, doesn't mean your not great at something else.
This movie has so many incredible points, it doesn't sugar coat things and have messages like "If you try hard enough you can do anything" which is not to say that you shouldn't try as if Mike didn't try he wouldn't have been Sully's partner at Monsters Inc, but that not everyone is meant to do some things regardless of how badly you want it. I also like the fact that they went to college in hopes of getting a job at a place, just for the college/university to just be a time and money suck that was irrelevant as they got their dream job anyways lol.
One of my favourite parts of the movie. It’s able to convey the idea that hard work is good, but sometimes hard work isn’t enough. Even if you put all your effort into your dream it doesn’t mean it’ll all work out. It really reinforces the idea that just because you didn’t achieve one goal, it doesn’t mean that you can’t find something else that will make you happy. So often movies try to push a narrative of “if you want something enough and try your best then it’s possible” - sometimes you simply don’t have what it takes and that’s fine. Good way to help put things into perspective. You think the professor in the movie is overly harsh on Mike but she was right. He really wanted to be a scarer, and probably worked harder than anyone, but he simply didn’t have what it takes. Reminds me a lot of when I played football. So many kids wanted to be a footballer. Some kids worked tirelessly but then other kids just had “it”. I saw many friends try desperately to make it at the end of the day, they just weren’t good enough. But a lot of them went into coaching or similar fields.
18:36 "I know that you're a princess and I'm just a stable boy..." is a, The Princess Bride movie reference because Billy Crystal (Mike Wazowski) played The Miracle Max in it!!!!!
I recently heard the script for what was originally supposed to be the sequel to the first film but they inevitably decided to do a prequel instead and I'm glad they did, it turned out great! I love that we got this backstory for Mike and Sulley. The original sequel would've been nice but I definitely think they made the right decision to change it
i also kind of wish mike as an adult got to talk to the scarer that encouraged him to go to MU in the first place, just to tell him he really di inspire him and it in a way got him there in the end
Randal graduated from the top university for scaring, was a part of the scaring program, joined the scariest fraternity... and yet Sully and Mike got into the same company and even bested him. So I don't think his arc was not significant. I think it shows that it doesn't matter what school you graduated or how high your grades were, it's all about opportunity and hard work. You can start from the bottom, but you can reach the top like anyone else who had ladders
People are kinda misunderstanding what I said. It’s not that it’s not significant, in fact it’s really in depth and adds a lot to his character. What I said is that this version of Randall doesn’t necessarily enhance the original story. It changes a lot of things and makes it fresh, but the simplicity of the original motivation is just as effective. They’re just two different approaches.
Literally my favorite Pixar movie from one of my new favorite TH-camrs!? I'm so excited!! Also, when the Dean said "this particular child is afraid of snakes. So a roar wouldn’t make him scream, it would make him cry." That makes me think that Boo was afraid of snakes too because Randall was her monster (and he's snake-like) and she cried when Sully scared her.
i LOVED your appreciation of this movie. A lot of people didnt know how to appreciate it in my social circle and i was so dissappointed cuz it was a great movie and deserved better recognition. As someone whos the BIGGEST fan of Monsters Inc, I can tell you I loved the prequel. It's just that people wanted to watch a lie and see Mike being scary, when that's not possible. Sometimes you have to accept reality, because everything is not meant for everybody. PD: Ive been watching your reactions all this month and I loved them all. You catch everything so quickly. You are a great spectator
I will always be amazed of how good the world building is around monsters AND how much details can be learned from the dean character with the few scenes that she is in
i watched this movie when i was around 10 for the first time, and it scared me because ive had a life long ambition to go to art college and become a famous artist, and everybody kind of knows me for how much ive always talked about it. but the older ive gotten, the more im asked to be practical, and i like that this movie can remind me that even if i dont make it, i can make it somewhere else. im going to college next year so i suppose i'll see D;
Good Luck! Famous can be relative, you could start with postings drawing vids on TikTok and go from there, don't have to be in college to do that for a head start
This is my second biggest comfort movie after Big Hero 6. It hits so close to home and the messages behind it are so important, especially for young adults going through university. It's also just so much fun and so sweet and so funny. This movie holds such a special place for me. I just love it. I was so excited to see your reaction to Monsters Inc., mostly because I knew you'd probably be reacting to this one fairly soon after 😂😂😂
What I absolutely loved about this movie is the fact that it shows a protagonist failing to achieve what they always dreamed of, and who instead shifts his priorities and finds peace with the fact that he couldn't do what he wanted. As a result, his dream changes, but he finds joy in that!
25:42 bullies only do that when they are scared insecure paranoid jealous like they are definitely threatened cus why bullying them why targeting them, they didn't expect Mike's team to make it this far
When you have a legendary scarer of her time and is a master of fear telling you you aren't scary, you know where she's coming from and you aren't scary.
Someone likely shared this; but a cool detail regarding this prequel is that it came out when the target audience of the first movie would be preparing for college/entering the work force.
In Monsters Ince, Mike said “You’ve been jealous of my good looks since the 4th grade”, alluding to Sully and Mike being friends since childhood, but in this, they seem to meet and become friends in college
It’s just a retcon. They didn’t have monsters university planned out before and obviously had the idea beforehand that they’d been friends their whole life.
I saw this movie so many times in the theaters! I even saved every single movie ticket. I think that's saying something about how much I love this movie. That part where Mike and Sulley scare those adults, I swear it always felt like the entire building was shaking. It might just as well have been my imagination, but that feeling combined with Sulley jumping down and roaring was incredible! I guess it really made a lasting impression because it's something I still think about. I'm SO happy you also love and appreciate this movie just as much as I do. This is the perfect prequel. And Mike and Sulley really are just a perfect team.
Just discovered this guy, and im in love, the way u treat these reactions as life lessons as well as movies and entertainment, is just refreshing, u dont talk to much other the important bits, u treat these reactions like where watching with u in the same room, and its just so much fun seeung u have fun to, well done dude, also aussie accent is my fav
Monster's Inc. &Monster's University are two of my favorite Pixar movies. I thoroughly enjoyed this very much.... have seen this before but it was such a delight watching it in The Cocoa Couch channel. Thank you for this and hope you have a great evening

This movie adds so much depth with the first one... and it was written and produced with such love! I feel like we crave for movies and animations like this, hard to believe that its already 10 years since this came out!
I'm so scared of sequels that come out after years of the first one, they usually flop, but this one and The Incredibles 2, they are both decent successors of their parent movies 💕
For a second, when I first saw your marshmallow in the background, I thought it was an Adipose from Doctor Who's episode Partners in Crime. LOL "The fat just walks away."
This movie not only stands on its own as a great pixar movie imho, but also retroactively makes its predecessor more fleshed out and enjoyable. Mikes just the comic relief character in monsters inc except ONE scene where he finally breaks after losing EVERYTHING we now know how truly hard he worked to achieve and accomplish, including, in his eyes, his best friend after sully tells him none of it matters. Imagine going through everything these two have gone through after all these years, and he says none of it matters. That hurts. But within minutes of that scene, mike has followed sully not just to get his life back, but his friend who he now fully empathizes with and understands why he felt the way he did and will support his crqzy ideas JUST LIKE sully did for him and, as established in monsters inc, sully has a tendency to back up and support mike in everything, so mike decides to look at things through his best friends eyes and they find common ground and makeup. It just all feels so natural even though you know it wasnt all really planned out from the beginning. Mike and sully are two of pixar and cinemas greatest duos.
It's so great to see you appreciate this movie as much as I do! I don't know why it was considered a let-down when it was released, I think people were expecting it to be a sequel instead. Personally, I think it works as a perfect prequel, and it enhances the experience when you go to rewatch Monsters Inc. afterwards! It gives a message you don't see a lot in movies. Your reactions were so on-point, great seeing you so connected to the characters after watching the first one!
I remember this coming out in theaters after growing up with the first one, but I just realized that was 11 YEARS ago!! Amazing…. Also, that stable boy and princess quote was definitely a reference to The Princess Bride, as Billy Crystal (Mike) was in that movie as Miracle Max.
I read somewhere once that there was a metaphor in this movie for disability, there are simply some things you won't be able to do, do everything you CAN instead
When I first saw this movie and saw that purple bird i instantly knew who that was I had like a small figure of him far before I saw this movie so then I had no idea where he was from
I think the idea is that Mike doesn’t have the natural talent for scaring. He’s short and somewhat cute and placed all his focus on the theoretical knowledge of scaring, but he can’t pull out the fear factor. It’s the idea of natural talent vs hard work. Sure many people who work hard can outperform a lazy person with natural talent, but in the nature of scaring, it’s a small time framed task that relies heavily on natural characteristics and the “it” factor. Mike could read all the books he wanted but he wouldn’t make him scary.
It's interesting that when they both got kicked out the scaring program in the beginning. Sully was more just filled with rage whilst Mike was depressed. knowing the rest of the movie its likely Sully was angry at himself cause deep down he knows he was screwing himself over not studying but just doesn't wanna admit being at fault plus being afraid of trying and failing. so when he got kicked out he used Mike as a scapegoat to direct his anger towards. Whilst Mike who worked his whole life to get there felt dread because he feels like he can do it and he was cheated out of his dreams and now that his dreams were crushed he had no emotions to anything else around him because to him. He already hit rock bottom and no amount of hatred from Sully could possibly phase him.
Awesome reaction video I also went back to watch the Monsters Inc one they’re definitely two of my fave animated movies. Have a great rest of the week and stay cozy.😊
I really like the moral of this story, it was mature, a bit harsh but also truthful. That you can't actually become anything in the world; some things are just not meant for you. But there's always something you *can* excel at, and we all have talents of different kinds. And while I can't really relate to Mike's situation in school fully (I was more like the ROAR kids back then) I really respect his can-do attitude, even though back then for someone like him I would've, admittedly made fun of it. I think I am also one of the few who liked Dean Hardscrabble. She was tough, stern and elitist but only to promote excellence in a field which demands it, for the survival of their world. She did prove by the end to not have a stone heart. Side note: I just noticed this on this reaction: Randall has a poster in his dorm with Mike, "winds of change", this is what he tells Mike in the first movie when he claims he's about to beat Sully's record: "shh shh shh did you hear that? It's the winds of change!"
I like that it’s a little harsh, and if I’m correct, this movie was not just meant to be for kids but also the audience that watched monsters inc as children when it first came out so they’d be adults by now, so the message is meant to give hope and direction to young adults who have experiences like Mike.
@@thecocoacouch That's correct yes. I believe those who watched the first as kids would've been college age by the time this came out so quite good timing.
You should watch (not necesserily react to) Monsters at Work, which tells what happens between Waternoose's arrest and the final scene when Sulley and Mike managed to use laughs instead of screams. Aside from following on how they run the company on a new energy program, it also follows the newly gratiuated Tylor Tuskmon, who attempts to just from becoming a Scarer to being a Jokster while he works at MIFT (Monsters, Inc. Fixing Team, basically the repairing team of the company). The start of the first episode will have a reference to (and be set in) Monsters University with an apperance of Progessor Knight. There'll also be an episode of how The Abomible Snowman comes back to the human world and we see the REAL reason for his banisment unlike how it's implied at the end of this movie.
In Monsters Inc, it's mentioned that Mike and Sully have known each other since the 4th grade. But in this movie they meet for the first time at University. 🤔😂
I feel like when Sully said bad idea to them going to the party. I think perhaps because obviously he is popular and in high school was also popular and i gotta feeling perhaps he has been on the other side where he "invited" people to a party just to humiliate them. he knows a thing or two cause he's seen a thing or two
I remember being skeptical when they announced this movie because the first one is just such a classic. very similar to when they announced finding dory. (you should watch finding nemo and finding dory btw) BUT this movie blew me away! i remember saying it may even be better than the first!!
I first watched this movie in the summer of my second year in college, kinda relevant to me as a college student so I absolutely love it, it is a great feeling and memory, i will recall it every time I rewatch the movie ❤
We watched this movie in highschool. I had never watched the og Monsters Inc and I remember afterwards the kids in my class were like "Wow we have to watch Disney at our grown age, this is embarrassing" meanwhile I was like damn... This movie is so good. I love Sully and Mike's friendship, probably one of the best written ones Disney has made. I found that Monsters Inc focused more on Sully. where University focused more on Mike so I like that contrast. Like you said this movie really encapsulates why they make such a good team, they wouldn't be the best on their own but together they are. Had the two split ways on that bus Mike probably wouldn't have gotten into Monsters Inc, and Sully wouldn't be the best scarer. I also really like how they were kicked out of University and had to work towards their job through hardworking labour, it's kind of an inspiring message. And dare I say, you could see this movie being pointed towards the disabled? As someone with ADHD and autism I cant count how many times in school I was told "You cant do this", "You're just not cut out for this", which yes unfortunately life doesn't go your way sometimes but this movie kinda gives you hope. It's not one of those "And all the characters just got what they wanted because they dreamed really big" no, it's more realistic and I really like that. I both want and really dont want there to be a third Monsters Inc movie because third movies always get screwed over but I'm desperate to see these two BFFs again lol.
Introducing the first monster in the franchise who actually looks somewhat scary, Dean Hardscrabble. I've always wondered how Sully could be such a successful scarer, he doesn't look scary at all, Boo calls him "kitty" in Monsters, INC. for crying out loud. He looks big and cuddly, the fact that he has horns doesn't do much to make him look scary. He comes across as a bit arrogant when he's first introduced, a big contrast to the nice guy we know him to be in Monsters, INC. I like the little twist at the end, where Mike and Sully are in the human world, and it starts to feel like a horror movie, and the kids are the ones who are scaring Mike and Sully. And I love the scene where they open up to eachother. Great movies, especially Monsters, INC. And remember, scary monsters don't have plaque.
Size shouldn't matter and shouldn't judge based on looks. Like sully definitely doesn't look scary until he does his thing. Honestly small ones usually tend to be scarier. Mike wisowski is smart and can be athletic like what he did to catch the mascot animal 10:08 , and you can learn to scare a lot of things you got to learn it can't just do it with everything
It’s balance. The movie is trying to tell the audience that looks 100% matter when scaring, that’s why Mike fails in the end, but technique and utilising what you have also 100% matters. One doesn’t work without the other, Mike and Sully represent both of those aspects, without each other they’d both fail. But looks 100% matter, it’s just that it doesn’t do all the work.
I love this movie and it makes a great training film for companies to show the value of teamwork. Your commentary and insight are spot on, and after watching a few of your videos, I am subscribing! Well done and keep up the good work!
One thing I really like about this movie is that it opens up the monster world more. I felt like there were so few locations in the first one it felt kind of small. Maybe that's just me though.
I appreciate that this is Mikes movie, like yeah Sully gets his moments too just like Mike did in the first one, but this is the story of Mike and Sully, not Sully and Mike, y'know?

Dean Hardscrabble's admonition that a roar would make a child afraid of snakes cry instead of scream is a clever little reference to Boo from the original film. She was afraid of snakes - that's why Randall was the monster assigned to scare her. And when she saw Sulley roar in the simulator, she didn't scream. She cried.
Also, in case it wasn't obvious, Johnny Worthington is the guy who twisted Randall around and made him a glory-obsessed jerk. This is actually expanded on in more depth in Monsters at Work.
I didn't realize that. 😲 Good catch!
A nice Call Forward.
I should see monsters at work, sad to say i forgot about it
bruh i nvr even realized that
It's also cool to note that the original movie ends with the company switching from harvesting screams to harvesting laughs, meaning Mike ends up being the new "scarer" (or "comedian," I guess) that goes into children's bedrooms. The times/culture changed, allowing Mike's unique talents to be appreciated.
"I'll just be here, listening to my tunes" and then the metal music blaring always gets me 😂

geez how did I never realise that was Georgie and make that connection.
Yes, that scene is supposed to explain that after using the gel, his fur became so sticky making anything stick to him, like socks.
Wow, that means he never learn😂
I love the message of the movie and one we never really get, sometimes you are not good enough or you don't have enough natural talent, and that's okay; there are many other things you can do.
Money ball works with that same premise
I don’t know why so many people don’t like this movie. It’s a great break from, “you’ll always get your dreams if you work hard enough no matter what”
It's a combination of the insanely high expectations of PIxar fans, and how the first acts of this movie are just generic university movie tropes.
I still enjoy it
i like it way more than the first one
Here’s a needless fun fact. I went and counted all the scream canisters that were in the room during the final adult scare. Mike and Sully not only made enough scream to power the door from the other side to the point it exploded, they filled 118 canisters and overpowered the lights on the floor until they popped.
And there was STILL excess scream that they couldn’t contain. That’s ALOT of scream these two college freshmen kids made.
Imagine if they made all of them laugh instead? They..probably would of died from the bigger door explosion lol
How many canisters did Dean Hardscrabble fill to break the scare record? I feel like Mike and Sulley already broke it in that scene.
@@elizabethfeuerbach5006 Lots and lots of canisters over many years.
And she didn't blow up when they accidentally destroyed her souvenir🥲
Do you remember in the first movie, Randall told Mike, "Do you hear that? It's the winds of change."
In Mike's and Randall's dorm you see a poster about the "Winds of Change."
So funny 😂😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
People always look at me wierd when j say i loved this movie alot more then alot of pixar and disney properties

Unfortunately, it is not really true. In most of localisation they didn't change video at all, just overvoiced scenes with appropriate pun phrases.
@@yaroslavpanych2067 As someone who used to watch Pixar movies dubbed, Pixar was one of the few to have most of their movies be localized

At the end he says he is fine being OK. I think it is not a coincidence that the fraternity they where in was the Oozma Kapas (OK)
I mean their chant is “we’re ok, we’re ok”
A plot hole that I realized was that in the first movie Mike says him and Sully have been bestfriends since 4th grade 💀
Yeah I looked this up and their excuse was it was just an expression for they’ve been friends “for ages” 😆
@@thecocoacouch Can you please react to kung fu panda 4 Already what took you so long

I've heard they were planning to include Sully in the opening scene somehow, but they decided to scrap it
1st grade: elementary
2nd: middle school
3rd: highschool
4th: college
Lol
I was so excited to see your reaction to Monsters Inc., mostly because I knew you'd probably be reacting to this one fairly soon after 😂😂😂
Sometimes things in life won't go the way you planned them. And that's okay.
What I absolutely loved about this movie is the fact that it shows a protagonist failing to achieve what they always dreamed of, and who instead shifts his priorities and finds peace with the fact that he couldn't do what he wanted. As a result, his dream changes, but he finds joy in that!

Randall's poster in their dorm room says "Winds of Change" the saying he quotes in Monsters Inc. !!!
"enemies to lover-- no, not lovers, best friends" no no no you were onto something there, happy pride month
It’s just Mike’s way of saying that they’ve been friends for a really long time
It’s just a retcon.

I also love how much Sully matured. He became so down to earth, and soft natured.

I always liked this prequel. They do a nice job with the characters and the story
When I first saw this movie and saw that purple bird i instantly knew who that was I had like a small figure of him far before I saw this movie so then I had no idea where he was from
In what universe is a one eyed , big teethed , sharp clawed , gremlin not considered scary?
shouldve been a one eyed one horned flying purple eater instead lmfao
39:57 love this part of the movie the horror creating

I just realized, this is literally Boo and literally how Monsters INC goes! 😮
Everyone tells me im LITERALLY the mom saying ill just be here listening to my tunes, and u hear heavy metal screaming yep thats me

Actually Mike has a look that makes him scary, he's like the Blue Ringed Octopus in appearance and his roar & family history people know adds to it.
YESSSSSS IVE BEEN WAITING SINCE YOU REACTED TO THE FIRST MOVIE YAY ❤❤❤❤
I love this movie and it makes a great training film for companies to show the value of teamwork. Your commentary and insight are spot on, and after watching a few of your videos, I am subscribing! Well done and keep up the good work!
One thing I really like about this movie is that it opens up the monster world more. I felt like there were so few locations in the first one it felt kind of small. Maybe that's just me though.
I appreciate that this is Mikes movie, like yeah Sully gets his moments too just like Mike did in the first one, but this is the story of Mike and Sully, not Sully and Mike, y'know?
