Are we not gonna talk about how much better the S24 mic was… overall sound quality and background wind noise reduction was amazing!
Of course, let’s ignore the iPhone quality image and video overall and talk about a fucking mic
@@nigeriavintagepictures4385 last I checked the mic quality was part of the review. Feel free to ignore it along with any common sense you may have
yes the s24 ultra mic seems far better than the iPhone one...
Probably using AI for it
What if I want to capture the background noise?
This is the exact reason why I prioritize your video over other tech tubers.

As an iPhone user, all I can say is that Samsung did a great job with this years update. Other than focusing on huge hardware updates, they are focusing on refinement and software.
As it should be. Its about Evolution, and constantly improving, than about making a Hit every now and than.
As an “iPhone” user your opinion weights the same as a Motorola or xiaomi user.
as an android user , all i can say is that apple did a great job throughout the years , other than the type and widgets, they are focusing on slowly low key trying to turn to android & keep up with android 😜
Hi.
I have a question, I have never used iPhone before.
Is there a way to lock individual apps on iPhone ???
Example: You unlock your iPhone and give it to someone to call or something else... At that moment he can access to your Facebook account, Instagram, E-mail...
Is there any way to prevent someone to open app without your permission ???
Thank you for answer me.
@@deckoizkraja3107 You can start call from the lock screen, without unlocking the Phone, i think
Hopefully a comparison vs the s23u will come soon. Mainly to see how the old 10x optical zoom compares.
If we've learned anything from Samsung these past few years is that the software updates greatly improve performance during the entire first year of release
You can’t fix digital zoom, and make it optical with software. With that being said with 10 times zoom on the 24 ultra looks terrible.
@@johnboy8705google did a really good job improving the pixel 7 pro in the past. Their digigtal 10x also improved a lot

No bias, right to the point. I’m glad I found your channel! After using the 24 ultra, I can say that I love it. But going from a 23 Ultra really isn’t a massive leap. That being said, anyone else that’s on an older phone than a 23, this is the one to get for sure.

Things to improve:
1. White Balance
2. Skin stones (altho the video was pretty good)
3. Smoother stabilization
4. Color reproduction
... night shot was too purple, white balance off, artifacts etc

Agree, white balance on samsung is alyways off, this and shutter lag are two things that kills samsung phones in photograpy and video.

@@Patrick-vi9xrshutter lag? U mean that 2ms lag?
Frontal video is impressive on Samsung. For a moment I thought they were swapped, because the right image is downright beautyfiltered and the left is sharpened and very HDR. Mic seems to be better on Samsung as well. However, the mic zoom is a bit too extreme on Samsung.
Zoom stability is still below iphone. Not by as much as last year though. It's hard to say which image is better, there's just very different color science and Samsung is a bit brighter. One would need to know the real water color in that spot to say which camera is better.
In general the video stability looks decent(in that relatively small clip). But there's something off about Samsung(and android in particular). People know the term judder, or frame drops, that aren't present here, but at the same time the fluidity isn't the same. It's like Samsung does 50fps, while iphone does 60.
Lowlight main is better on iphone, hands down. Samsung lost this one. Worse stability, worse clarity. Same goes to zoom, Samsung may be more saturated, but iphone zoom is brighter and crisper. And a lot more stable.
For photos I agree with Chris, nothing to add.
You can turn off the Zoom mic on the camera settings of the Samsung
I can always rely on you to cut through all the hype and show us the truth of the technology. Thank you.
So grateful to have discovered your channel! Great comparison, and you got it out only a day after the release! Subscribed :)
Thank you for your fast delivery. I really wanted to buy the galaxy s24 ultra with the flat display. But the photos are not so nice like from the iphone yet. I hope they improve their camera software a lot like they did with the predecessor!
I think we need a more in depth comparison. The ai stuff for photography, the 4k 120 fps, more 8k vs 4k samples. I mean this is what differentiates the two and if were going to stick with what the iphone doesn't have then you won't be able to showcase what samsung has.
No offense to Chris, but he is a general hardware reviewer. He doesn't have the budget, knowledge or technical capability for in-depth technical reviews. And he probably has a queue of hardware that needs coverage.
For dedicated camera comparisons or demonstrations - you need channels that do professional photography, like Olle Nilsson. Or at least channels with 5x+ budget and crews that can orchestrate and edit a full camera comparison, like mrwhosetheboss or supersaf.
Good point there are many reasons to pick the s24 over the iPhone
4k 120 is fucking huge and the iPhone doesn’t have it
Also many of the examples I personally preferred the s24 version
He shouldn’t have given his personal opinion but let us decide
@@WirxawTanev it's not really that hard he just has to shoot and that's it. We're not asking for a tutorial, just a side by side comparison what does the s24 ultra offer that the iphone doesn't. That's it, then compare it side by side.
@@BLAKEEATS1988 Don't get me wrong, I'm not against the idea itself. It's just not something Chris usually does and I'm merely trying to point it out. If he does a more in-depth comparison - I'm all for it, I just explained that he has other priorities, whereas photography reviewers could cover that subject.
However, he did say that his next comparison would be to S23 Ultra. MAYBE he will compare the new AI tweaks and whatnot to the direct predecessor. But if not - don't be disappointed.
He reviews what matters to the average non technical users
Great to see you getting s24 ultra so early. The portrait shot looks too much oversharpened in iphone, image. Also audio especially wind noise filtering was far better in S24... I was curious whether portrait video is 4k in s24 ultra also the gopro like mode ...did they make it better?

[Request] - Mini tripod shots. I'm more than happy to bring a mini tripod with me, set a timer and run back to the group. Phone cameras are at their absolute best when they're perfectly still. I feel this would help you differentiate them further.
With the S24 (and other models with a bluetooth S Pen), you can use the button on the S Pen as a remote shutter, so no need for a timer.
Maybe finish it off with a table with checkmarks what goes to which one? Also, for next time, perhaps a 200% zoom on the videos will highlight the differences better, perhaps even 400% for 8k vs 4k comparison, just so the people can judge whether the hype gets them sufficiently more details. Thanks for the great video and the excellent comparison shots
Is it possible to enable "High Bitrate Video" and HDR10+ settings in Advanced camera settings for 8k video mode? What settings did you use on the s24? looks like your scene optimizer is on, also high quality is turned off, can you confirm please
it doesnt matter, if samsung lets the users change these settings and puts them on by default then they except everyone to use them like that.
@@osaobeid7828 yes it matters, there are 100s of settings in androids each setting customizing the pictures/ videos as per user preference. Its not at all the same as apple point and click type. Scene optimizer post process image with AI and change original colour contrast or dynamic, if you dont understand what scene optimizer is. In short it takes the picture and then add dramatic changes but you lose originality. Apple users will never understand the customization of Android systems, its rocket science for you guys.
you don't understand, do you? apple will give you the best picture without messing with any of the settings, whilst on androids you have to turn on/off many settings to get an objectively good picture that the iPhone will give to you automatically. Also, it has been proven that most users do not change anything and leave everything on default. if their phones are shit by default then it is the company's fault. now tell me, wich OS sounds better to you? an OS that gives you the best image by default without messing with anything, objectively speaking, or an OS that forces you to change settings to then get an image that is still inferior to iPhone in many ways.@@ipllight
@@osaobeid7828 you dont understand either, you are super limited with Apple, android is a world of customization and possibility. They are not even the same. Apple will tweak a standard and make you bow to that. Android you build the standard based on your need. The scene optimizer takes away colour accuracy, but you get a enhanced ready to post picture, so each of these settings have its pros and cons. But when comparing colour accuracy why is he using scene optimizer? which is supposed to edit and change the picture to make it vibrant. Do you have scene optimizer in Apple? Do you know what it is?
i know what scene optimizer is. its one of the many shitty settings in a samsung phone that makes images very inconsistent. Thank God apple doesn't have this bullshit. listen buddy, here is what apple does compared to the android world if you are wondering. android lets people customize a lot, lets you tweak a lot of stuff in the camera app as an example, but here is the thing, 99% of people end up changing stuff they have no idea about. while they believe in that moment that they made the picture better, in reality they made it worse because very few people are pros when it comes to color grading etc. apple does everything for you and doesn't let you mess around because everything is ALREADY perfect. do you not get it? let me give you another example. Samsung lets you change the display resolution, right? it has been shown several times that changing to a lower resolution does absolutely nothing to the battery, yet Samsung still lets you do that. Right now, as i am writing this, there are thousands of Samsung users having their display set to a lower resolution thinking they are saving battery. apple doesn't let you do that, and it is always set to the right setting by default to avoid stupid people from tinkering with stuff they know nothing about@@ipllight

They do trade blows - I do think overall the S24 Ultra won, although the iPhone was no slouch either. Phones are getting better each year, but this year seems to have been quite a leap for the S24 Ultra.
Samsung tends to improve its software over the months after launch, so it will be cool to see how this phone evolves.
I disagree I have the s23 ultra and the iPhone is clearly winner here samsung only takes zoom pics that's it
If you are talking about the overall camera and how consistent one is ,the iPhone is the best ,it is the most consistent camera you can find imo ,pixel has better photos overall but iPhone still have great consistent photos but iPhone also has the best video camera especially if you are professional which the gap get even bigger with the use of log ,while the pixel doesn’t have a consistent video camera ,Samsung is neither ,Samsung doesn’t overall have the best photo camera neither video camera hence why Samsung doesn’t have in my opinion the best overall camera .

Thanks for such fast real life test (not artificial spaces prepared by Samsung). You're doing it right.
Please test also if motion blur (photos) in not ideal lighting conditions is still present. iPhone and Pixel are way better than S23 Ultra in this area.
The only camera test when it comes to Samsung phones should be taking pictures of moving subjects, especially indoors. Yeah, I appreciate all those zoom capabilities, megapixels, lenses... but sold my S23U because photos of people/kids/pets were unusable. As soon as something moves, there is blur and if it's indoors, those pictures get deleted almost always. And it has been like that on every Samsung I used because of their terrible camera software. If they didn't solve that on S24 series (I can't tell based on this comparisson), I think that shows their disrespect to customers.
What terrible camera software are you talking about? The Samsung Camera Assistant app?
Samsung phones are ass if you want to capture kids, cars, pets, etc. Sony Xperia 5/1 series and Honor Magic series are the best for capturing moving stuff
@@pinetworkminer8377 both native camera app (that has been pretty much the same all these years) and Camera assistant (that does not help at all when it comes to shutter lag, for example). @@Ajay-vm5kz taking pictures of moving subjects is what most users (at least I hope so) do. I know a lot of people who switched to Iphone/Pixel just because of blurry pictures of their kids. And Samsung continues to ignore that issue, releasing phones with same problems year after year.

I just felt like Samsumg S24 ultra is a facelift version of S23 ultra.
Same can be said for every release
Comment before perfect answer. However ai is also coming into play so there is an upgrade. And also snapdragon 8 gen 3.

Likewise, the iPhone has not improved at all, and the battery charging speed is bad. This is what made me stay away from Apple. It has not developed anything at all. The iPhone’s photography is excellent, but I think Samsung excels with the screen, charging speed, and photography are all excellent, not to mention the advanced specifications in Samsung. It needs light years for Apple to reach Samsung.
Could you please add a comparison of the S24 LOG footage and the iPhone’s ProLog footage?
Great review! But it would have helped if you added more potrait stills on 2x and 5x
I shoot RAW images, so this comparison doesn't do much for me. I was supposed to get a unit, never did, so I will wait for the preorder to arrive on the 31st where I can test the clarity of the zoom, shutter lag, while shooting in Raw format. Great comparison!!
I use gcam and have same problem with these comparisons
Owning both a Samsung S23 Ultra and iPhone Pro Max 15, I've noticed that the iPhone generally appears more visually appealing in most pictures and videos. Despite Samsung's superior camera specs, there's considerable room for improvement in the technology to truly match Apple's achievements with the iPhone Pro Series. I remain optimistic that through updates, that Samsung will continue to improve their cameras ^_^
gonna be honest, the top end phones from samsung and apple are so close at this point. outside of night mode, the cameras are as good as each other and its quite hard to tell them apart. night mode and low light could definitely improve still i think, but for daytime, they are both great
@@chickenbobbobba It's almost impossible for someone who doesn't care about their pictures/videos to make the difference between the phones. Still, there's a minor benefit to the technology that the Pro Series uses. I have no doubt that Samsung could produce better camera performance with the right software adjustments. Although they are both fantastic cameras, people shouldn't choose them based only on how well the cameras work.
@@TonyYT yeah. currently id be just as happy with either camera, but tbh i have the base s23 and i dont think i want or need any better, even if mine is not a super high end phone. camera technology is more or less at the point where you can pick up any modern mid - high end phone and be happy with it
As a samsung user I'd really love to see them get the colors right one day.
I don't know why they go for the candy color grading generation after generation.
It's ok to have it as an option. Like some cameras have a vivid and a natural mode.
But forcing me to have every color pop unnaturally is just sad.
Hi Chris . Will you make a comparison between S23 Ultra and S24 Ultra?
This was a fantastic video. You did an excellent job. Thank you. I'm so sad to see that Samsung can't seem to get it's basic settings in check. It looks like it could be as good as the iPhone if it didn't try so hard. Nonetheless they're close enough and I don't feel left out by avoiding iPhone for another few years. I really despise the apple ecosystem but love their devices.
We have to wait for updates to improve camera performance because the iPhone has already had many updates that improve it, but the s24 will improve, it's still new software... that needs to improve
😂😂😂😂😂😂

Lmaoooo 😂😂
Nothing was wrong with the IPhone’s camera at launch. Most of the updates were to fix overheating issues lol
Don’t wanna be annoying just a reminder that iPhone selfie camera is not only electrocute stabilization, but also optical as well. Though I completely agree with your thoughts on the quality. Somehow the iPhone still manages to be slightly better or even, though with somewhat inferior hardware vs. S24. Maybe you could do the same video for Google Pixel 8 Pro vs. S24 🙂
Cheers
Good test review, take love from Bangladesh ♥️ 🇧🇩
As a 23 ultra users.. iPhone still wins on video and camera 😢 but Samsung is closing the gap
Closing the gap my ass.
My S8 from 6 years ago with custom gcam port took better photos then the new galaxy phones.
If you are looking for a good photography phone, Chinese branda are where its at.
Mmm better (than S23U) but still unnatural depending on the scene. It's not at the level of some Chinese flagships i think. Thanks Chris for the comparison 😀
yeah, I've become disillusioned with Samsung over the brightening of photos and colors.
what would u get
first time watching your video not going to buy any but still loved your video nice work you got a subscriber
does the s24U have log video options ?
now i know why AI take the stage in this year's presentation instead of camera. Samsung is finished.
But aren't there frequent updates to improve camera performance of Samsung's phones? I mean, software updates.
Is this with pre released software????
You always do great video's.
Shame the comments are being spammed to death by Amazon.
The two phones have good and bad points. Though based on price and hype neither performance inspires to be honest.
There are definitely better value for money quality options with others. This would be very true updating from a 3 year old phone.
As the latest and greatest, S24 Ultra really shocked me of what it can do. Now its finally time for Samsung to lead as the greatest smartphone of all time. Unless the iPhone gets AI, it can't compare to the sheer power of the S24 Ultra, and if the rumors and leaks are true, the upcoming iPhone 16 series along with Pro Series and the first Ultra iPhone, they are not getting AI features, but they are getting a huge upgrade to the iOS with the release of iOS 18. Now Samsung is up where the iPhone is in Camera Perspective, but it is always the king when it comes to features, and the features get even more usage by the inclusion of the AI. Now the S24 Ultra stands alone as the king. Unless Apple makes an AI phone, it can't compete in the latest generation with its Arch Rival. And as both Android and Apple user, I can safely say that 2024 and Beyond will be the time of AI for the Smartphones. There have been many talks about the Folding iPhone, but we need to wait and see if Apple can achieve what is supposedly impossible for them (making Foldable Apple Products) We just have to wait and see.
