** About This Video **
The nudge function is a useful function in Pro Tools! It makes it so you can use keyboard shortcuts to shift the location for something along your timeline, and it makes it so you can do this in preset amounts. In this video, we talk about the nudge function, including how to configure the nudge function, and a few ways to use it. If you want to be a master of Pro Tools, you should learn this stuff!

Useful tips that i will implement starting with todays project. Totally forgot this stuff in the thousands of Pro Tools complexities and have completely left this out of my workflow. One of the things I struggle most is finding the perfect leveling between a consumer-pro grade recording and a "oddly compressed and auto leveled" Skype track. Others tell me it sounds same volume but the contrasting sound profiles and maybe 1dB of difference tells me otherwise.
"Oddly compressed and auto leveled" relating to the odd coloring and characterization Skype and the program Ecam does to the sound. Wish there were lossless 48Khz programs like the Skype and Ecam combo.
Knowing when to take a break! Also, I don't have the best monitor speakers for lows so I have to be conscious of this while mixing, so most times I throw on the headphones , but I hear to much headphone can speed up the loss of hearing process so I try to find a balance and get the most out of what I have! MixLife!

Why do I have to suddenly toggle between grid and nudge in the MIDI editor? They used to both be available without toggling. I nudge a lot in MIDI and this really slows stuff down. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you. Its working well for me for nudging audio. But I seem to be having an issue with nudging a video clip. It only nudges my selection not the actual clip despite selecting the clip! I've never had this happen before.
oh interesting. I haven't dug into nudging video clips at all. Did you figure it out? I'm curious
@@CatoNoise oh ya something to do with the frames of video. Older version of pro tools. Will only nudge by a certain amount. It's time to upgrade so I'm free to work at any frame rate.
Aparently I got lucky and I had already bought a perpetual upgrade last month it was ultimate 2 days before they announced no more perpetual. I just didn't activate to the new computer yet but that should allow any kind of timecode and frame rate matching there.
I was also into compatibility and graphics card issues so that may have had something to do with it. We'll see if it improves on the new machine.

Crazy question that nobody seems to be able to answer...so I turn to you, the MASTERS of the universe. : )
I'm using Pro Tools 12.4 on my MacBook pro, and I'd like to be able to open the Transport window (bar) with a shortcut. With a "regular" computer it's COMM / 1 (on the numeric keyboard to the right) but obviously we don't have that on a laptop.
I've even tried to create my own shortcut but it just doesn't seem to work.
Any ideas would be fantastic.
I think you can hold function and then do the shortcut with some shortcuts. That's what I do to drop a marker when I'm on my laptop and don't have the numeric enter key. Try some combo of the shortcut with the fn key? (also, sorry it took me so long to respond to this! YT marked this comment as spam for some reason - I need to get better at checking the spam section of my comments every so often). Take care!
