Have you tried the OG John Varvatos? What do you think?
Fragrance Bros. I harken it to the original Boss Bottled, still cool but dated and familiar.
I wouldn’t call it out-dated. That’s opinionated. I mean what do you expect? Do you expect houses to remove a fragrance because it’s an old scent and people like you think a fragrance is out-dated?
I don't know all the magical words to describe it, but as a female let me give you an idea when my ex finished using his bottle? I put the empty bottle in my closet so that I could enjoy the ambient scent!
I love the original fragrance, but I don't get great performance from it.
I got a free sample of this when I bought Dark Rebel. I really like this scent. I agree that it’s non offensive and has a great smell. I’ll definitely get this if I see it at a TJ Maxx or somewhere similar.
I love this stuff I have a bottle from around the time it launched and I get a very good realistic leather note sage, plum and for the most part I really like it and haven't found another varvatos that beats it yet for me 👍😀
I love this scent. It does not project,but works great when you get close to someone. Your not gonna overpower someone with this. For that it works really well. I will buy another bottle when I run out. Any recommendations for something similar to this I love the plum note in it.

I really enjoy the Artisan line. If Artisan Blu and Artisan Acqua had better performance...they'd be signature scents for me. They both smell like the best luxury soap. I reach for them before I reach for Mugler Cologne. Also really enjoy Artisan Pure and Dark Rebel (but only on a cold night).

One of my favorites! Way too light for me in terms of silage and longevity but it's my favorite date night/close quarters scent hands down! It smells that amazing!
The original John Varvatos is a solid fragrance. I think Varvatos does best with their darker scents, since they tend to be more unique and standout more than their summer line. I was fortunate to get a bottle of the discontinued Rock Vol. 1, so I don't really need this one in my collection. Rock
Vol. 1 is similar in vibe to the original Varvatos, but I think it smells slightly better, since it doesn't use that Indian spice so much.
I sampled a lot of colonges 4 years ago, John Varvatos was my favorite, I can remember where I was when i got the perfect whif, im not sure if its my body chemistry along with it or what but the scent memory stayed with me
Doesn't knock my socks off, but for under $30 at Fragrancenet, it's a solid buy.

it smells really good, but performance is a bit bad, at least on me... i'm spraying it on skin & clothes, and still don't get 6 hours... i guess it's not for cold(est) weather?
Big fan of JV. I have the Original, Vintage, Dark Rebel, DR Rider & Artisan Pure. 5 awesome scents. Not so keen on his 2 newest ones with Nick Jonas, though.They're quite a flop.

this is a sneaky little under the radar fragrance that is beautiful every note in it complements the next and it just smells really good and comforting it's such a nice little fragrance that is just sat there and not really been picked up by anyone it's just extremely sad that it don't last because if this had the longevity of spicebuming extremely has then would have been 10 out of 10
Really love it! One of the 2 fragrances I own (the other being Oud Wood by Tom Ford), both being Oriental Woody scents.

John Varvatos' branding is excellent. I just wish the scents had longevity.

Always enjoyed the opening on this one, but as weird as this sounds, the drydown on my skin really reminds me of a doctor's office waiting room when I was a kid. I know, right... Like an herbal plum and fig mixed with disinfectant wipes or something bringing back memories of needles and screaming. LOL It's still a very well balanced scent with kind of a barbershop vibe; I just prefer the others in the line. But for the gramps in the audience, this could be a staple in your wardrobe - along with your teeth, brown shoes and a woolen vest. Rock on.

I like vintage better! I got the gift set to help with longevity. Inexpensive scents can’t really go wrong with either one. I used up a travel size for this scent and don’t see myself buy it again.

The one I just bought today, has the smooth brown leather wrap like the one you're holding and not like the one that resembles snake skin like the vintage scent. Is it just as good? I've not opened it yet.
I just got this in from scentbird, figure that watch a video to see whether it's worth to buy a bottle, or not. It smells great though. Just wondering how long it lasts.

Yeah I have a review of Dark Rebel. I never got a chance to review Rebel Rider. Artisan Pure is fantastic. Going to have a review of that in the future.

Artisan Pure is a great warm weather scent and has better overall performance than most Varvatos Frags.

I thought I would like this one a lot more from the note breakdown. I hate the opening, gives off this harsh gas kind of feel, what I would call fumes. Once that's done it smells much better, but not great. I found myself not spraying it cause I couldn't stand that beginning, gave it away.

Artisan Pure lasts very well out of the whole portfolio, Dark Rebel and Rebel Rider are really good for about 20 minutes then gone.
Sooo what you’re saying is this is super mediocre, definitely not a love for anyone, nothing great about it at all, but we should love how mediocre it is and get it?

Walter P I own this fragrance and can tell you it’s not mediocre (obviously this is very subjective). The scent is really pleasant and will appeal to most noses. Versatility is also good and because it is on the lighter side it doesn’t have weather restrictions, other than maybe the summer heat. The John Varvatos line is notorious for how poorly their fragrances perform but that wouldn’t deter me from buying it or recommending it. I use it on dates in the spring and it garners compliments from those within my scent bubble. Overall 8/10

John Varvatos. I have a love hate relationship with this men’s fragrance! I totally disagree with your entire review, albeit a great presentation.

* deeply masculine scent profile
* interesting, creative notes utilized plum fig etc
* good longevity at 6-8 hours
* strong projection
* great price, excellent value
-Cons
* too strong, can irritate mucous membranes in nasolarnyx/bronchii
* cloying, irritating strength/scent profile
