Welcome to the Usher Engineering TH-cam channel, we are 3 generations of engineers and mechanics who work together to build awesome British and American retro/hotrods, modified and classic cars, we even do work for the motorsport industry!
Steve is the owner of Usher Engineering, with having engineering and mechanical experience of over 20 years. He has many projects on the go, many of which will be featured on this channel and include hotrods, classic and retro cars! Steve's daughter Beth follows in his footsteps, nearing the end of her apprenticeship in engineering, and having a love for old retro cars, with her next road car being from 1989. Also featuring on the channel is Steve's father and Beth's grandfather Tony, he owns many classic and even vintage cars, with work taking place on his vintage van very soon! Tony having over 50 years of experience, his knowledge on the older cars and engines will be shown on steve's hotrod build as he rebuilds the engine, as well as the engine for his rare van. All 3 generations being invloved in stock car racing, which in the future may also feature on our channel.
With Steve being very classic Ford orientated and Beth loving her volkswagens, there will be a variety of projects shown on the channel, a long with a bit of healthy competition. Tony and Steve share a love the older cars, with a 1950's engine being used in the hot rod build.
Some cars on the channel will be customers cars too, so far including restoration of a Datsun, Rover Mini and Mk2 Ford Escort.
We will be using old and new methods to complete jobs, including blacksmithing, machining, metalshaping, fabrication and all types of welding.

Meant to the visuals the audio and the rapport between father and daughter is brilliant you should have at least ten thousand more subscribers
Looks good but you really should invest in a quality spot welder save all that plugging and grinding plus less oxidisation in the joint

hi i have noticed on the sills anyway your using magnum panels? we have used them quite a bit fits ok bit off fiddling as always but wanted to know have you noticed an increase in surface rust purely from the vapours off the weld when coated with that black primer,very difficult to remove and will come back unless treated quite quickly i would recommend a respirator when welding that it doesn't matter if you have removed the primer from the immediate weld aera even close by will give the same reaction.keep up the good work great to see a young lady doing this also,we currently have 2 mk2 escorts and 5 mk1 escorts plus other projects in our shop here in new zealand always good to see how others approach the same job.

Hi David, yes they are Magnum panels, as you say they are ok fit with a bit of jiggling....yes i have noticed that the welds rust quite fast but not thoght it could be down to the black primer, i will keep and eye on this thanks for watching, Steve.

no problem we sandblast all the panels now to get rid of the primer and epoxy them before fitting bit off extra work but rather that than chase rust a year down the line.
love the progress looks great,,, hope you get a lot more followers, youtube's a funny old place buy a car from copart and you get lots of subs its mad,,, get someone skilled showing how it's really done like yourself and it seems you have to beg for subs even though you deserve the subs, maybe explain a bit more of the process like a teacher? I don't know the key but keep it up its great.

Funny you should say that we have a 3 door (big window) mk1 sierra that will be a road legal track car that me and dad will be starting on at some point, as well as a mk2 sierra saphire that we have on the road which needs some work so i will be getting into that too, so please keep watching! thanks
Great Job on the Escort. I am doing a 4 Door Mk 2 as well and I would like to know if you can show me how you install the inner sill. Do you install the inner sill first or can you install the outer and then the inner sill. I am having a little trouble with mine. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for another great video.
Hi, with this build the inner sils are part of the floor pan so the outer sils are fitted afterwards, i replaced the inner and outer sils on another escort a few months back and i cut out the inner sill while the old outer sil was in place, you then have something to pin the new inner sil to while cutting the panel in.....hope this helps
