You could pick up an escort 1.3 pop
For 300-400£ , I recall my mate having a 2.8 Capri at his garage he brought it off the guy for scrap money, all because it failed mot on a back spring and the hand brake,
So we took the lights out of it to make it look like a American type car
Exhaust bodged up to come out the side ..... stuff like that ....
We basically thrashed crashed and smashed it . We drove it down a lane at the back of my friends field , by the time we finished it was bolloxed , but the engine was still running (WELL)
Week later he weighed it in ,
Now I think back if I could have it now that car would be worth a few quid.

Would love to see/ hear more about rust prevention. What primers do you recomend when welding on new panels, how to make sure all the hard to get to areas are protected, dealing with cavities and so on. Love the videos, keep it up!!

Would it not be cheaper to buy a new shell? Workpersonship is pretty impressive.
Wasn't there a company in Ireland where you could buy a brand new shell? The cost when i first heard of them was around £6/6500!
A company in the U.K. sells them for £7500.

Many an early MkII rally Escort started life as a MkI which had had a visit to the scenery once too often. A trick started by Ford at Boreham.
Ford did a advert with a bent MK1 and a new trimmed shell which you could buy and a load of parts around the shell ..so basically all you are suggesting is what ford blatantly wanted customers to do
Great video! What is the red primer you are spraying on? Is it a weld-through? Curious to know more about how you protect the backsides and lap seams of the spot welds.
Hi yes we use upol weld through copper primer to protect rear seams etc...
if you start making those spits to fit an escort I would buy one. Are those floor stregnthners your own design???
The floor strengtheners were bought from an online company in the uk
