Welcome to the Usher Engineering TH-cam channel, we are 3 generations of engineers and mechanics who work together to build awesome British and American retro/hotrods, modified and classic cars, we even do work for the motorsport industry!
Steve is the owner of Usher Engineering, with having engineering and mechanical experience of over 20 years. He has many projects on the go, many of which will be featured on this channel and include hotrods, classic and retro cars! Steve's daughter Beth follows in his footsteps, nearing the end of her apprenticeship in engineering, and having a love for old retro cars, with her next road car being from 1989. Also featuring on the channel is Steve's father and Beth's grandfather Tony, he owns many classic and even vintage cars, with work taking place on his vintage van very soon! Tony having over 50 years of experience, his knowledge on the older cars and engines will be shown on steve's hotrod build as he rebuilds the engine, as well as the engine for his rare van. All 3 generations being invloved in stock car racing, which in the future may also feature on our channel.
With Steve being very classic Ford orientated and Beth loving her volkswagens, there will be a variety of projects shown on the channel, a long with a bit of healthy competition. Tony and Steve share a love the older cars, with a 1950's engine being used in the hot rod build.
Some cars on the channel will be customers cars too, so far including restoration of a Datsun, Rover Mini and Mk2 Ford Escort.
We will be using old and new methods to complete jobs, including blacksmithing, machining, metalshaping, fabrication and all types of welding.

Some nice old tools you have there which I have not seen before, lovely to get the time to make the little closing panels as you go. Would be worth getting that body dipped after this restoration, still I guess this is going to be a garage car, and not used when there’s salt on the road👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧

Just found this channel and binged all 8 videos, great work and super to see a young lady so talented and keen. Only downside as the earlier crap music, had to watch it with no sound lol !
It does not look like either her or her dad are using hearing protection. I now have ringing in the ears from not wearing hearing protection when I was young and dumb😄. I now try to wear protection when ever I am grinding, hammering or making noise. I regret not protecting my hearing early on. Do your selves a favor and wear hearing protection.

some times I wish I had done panel beating instead of being a carpenter, but then it is a bit more fiderly for me

Watching your vids, I was wondering what you guys do when you have to replace a rocker panel where the cavity has been filled with that wax anto-corrosion spray (VW). Even if you remove it from patch and as much as you can of the pinch and interior parts, it still finds a way to leak down into where you're welding after the surrounding metal heats up. Any tips/tricks other than removing the inner sill as well and de-waxing that as well?
ive been watching a couple of your videos now and im quite impressed with your work.
the only thing im not that fond of is the audio levels going up and down. one moment i have to turn my sound up to hear something and then all of a sudden i get blasted with high volume. made me jump a couple of times haha. other than that keep up the good work

A wire wheel is better for weld prep as it doesn't remove metal like flap disk does

Hi no when the welds cool they shrink and pull the panel so we panel beat the welds to stretch them back
Why do they have to rally the 2 doors and wreck them , why can't they rally shitty 4 doors instead?

We've scrapped many of them years ago too, didn't realise how valuable they were going to become! So there's company's in the UK that make all the panels now, thanks for watching!
@@usherengineering179 Really , that is interesting . For the level of work you are doing there must be some value in them and not on the small side. Ive been this far with plenty of mustangs over here but the return on them is pretty obvious.
So do these companies only specialize in escorts ? How does the material compare to stock panels ? From what I could see the quality was decent.
Still to this day we really dont have quality replacement panels for the Mustang . All of them are pretty Chineesy...
