    Great explanation. Thanks.

I just figured it out. I had the lock lever engaged. For some reason I thought it had to be in the lock position after attaching the grip. I now assume it is to disengage the button controls on the grip when you are using the main camera body controls.

Yes, the idea is that if you are using the camera grip you probably don't want to press the buttons or dials on the grip by accident, hence you would lock the grip and only enable it when you want to use it in portrait orientation.

I'd be interested to see how the vertical grip integrates with flash brackets or tripod plates. I shoot events and shoot 90% of my photos vertically. Stroboframe makes a bracket that can reposition the flash over the lens when shooting vertically for example. But I'm not sure how that bracket balances well on smaller cameras.

I don't use flash brackets but when it comes to tripod brackets, is there a difference in the usage apart from the size and design of the brackets to make sure they have a clearing for the battery compartment door? I mostly use camera cages when I am attaching my cameras to a tripod but whenever I use a cage it is without the battery grip. If you want me to test out specific products or setup, please let me know the details.

Thanks for this video on the grip and comparing it to other brands. I just purchased this grip (used). For some reason, the shutter release on the grip is not triggering the shutter to fire. It is an Olympus HLD-10 and not a clone. I'm a bit frustrated. I can power the camera without a battery in the main camera. The focus button also is working. Any suggestions?

assuming the grip is not faulty, make sure the lock lever is in the correct position to allow the buttons and dials on the grip to be used.

With the grip on, you doubled the controls or the contorl on the grip exclude the buttons on the camera?
    Thanks

You double the frequently used controls but some buttons are not available on the grip for example the two buttons on the front of the camera do not exist on the grip as well as the arrow buttons.

@@RadCameraMan @RadCameraMan thanks, but maybe due to my bad english I've not explained enough what i would really know. When HLD-10 Is on, is It possibile to use both the buttons on the camera and the buttons on the grip? In particular, can i assign different functions to the same (doubled) buttons?

@@MarcoPi-pq5kg Yes, you can assign functions to the buttons on the grip as shortcut buttons. You can choose different functions or the same function as on the camera. There are three buttons on the grip that can be customized (ISO button, exposure compensation button, and the back button auto-focus).
