      I'm happy we could do this place justice with the filming and editing. There hasn't been really any great films out there on it that really dive into what's growing there. Thanks for watching.

    You look ecstatic! I wonder why ? 😉
    It’s neat that the grass under the waterfall wasn’t planned. It shows that even in such a controlled, well planned environment, nature will exert itself. Maybe some of the ‘weed’ seeds that will inevitably sneak in on visitors shoes and apparel will introduce other species that prove to be welcome unintended additions. ~ Creating a cool growing space in hot Singapore is such a fascinating project, the obverse of the common tropical glasshouses of temperate climes. It enables the facility to grow plants that are considered exotic to residents of the tropics like Bald Cypress, Rhode. ponticum, etc.. This reminded me of the Alpine House at Kew Gardens, which mimics a high altitude climate in an area of a comparatively moderate environ. ~ It will be interesting to see how the trees fit into the planting scheme over time, as some of those species can get quite large. A Cupressus cashmeriana can exceed 200 feet in its native Bhutan. ~ Cool to see an Araucaria montana from New Caledonia , which is no. 1 on my bucket list for botanical exploration.

    Damn, Summer, i came here originally to stop killing my plants all the time...
    Now i'm traveling the world with you in 4k? You're spoiling us.
    That place is Versailles-level batshit crazy, thanks for the tour, i turned on the notifications (i never do that) cause i want to see the rest.

    • @summerrayneoakes
      @summerrayneoakes  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Glad you're enjoying it! And yes 4K all the way. Too many people watch it on the big screen, so felt the need to shoot all of the episodes in 4K. And trying to put out solid content all the time, so hopefully notifications won't be too annoying.

    Last time I was in Singapore (2010 or something), it was nothing like that. I mean, to be one of the leading botanical garden in the world that quick... Wow, just wow. Hopefully I'll get the chance to visit again someday 🤤

    • @summerrayneoakes
      @summerrayneoakes  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah, my first time out in Singapore was in 2005. And the amount of "greening" that they're doing-I mean after it got built up so much-is impressive. Because let's all remember: Singapore was pretty much jungle and water before all this development!
