    I get the sense, not only from this video but some others, and my own interaction with nursery managers etc that they lose sight and joy for their job sometimes, and your excitement over plants and obvious love either reminds the people your speaking with to either be greatful and re-excited about their job or that they need to catch up and do more research lol.

    Very interesting. Also important is the conservation of rare plants - like the one from Hawaii that he mentioned is in danger because the pollinating moth has disappeared. Let's hope the moths will come back and surprise us.

    Great idea putting hanging the carnivorous plants in glass globes (as if air plants). I am going to try that out.

    Dischidia in the house! I actually cheered 😄 I thought I spotted dischidia ovata in the videos which is probably my favorite plant. Loved this episode especially when you schooled "Singapore Plant Guy" 😏👍

    .
    I wonder if they have passiflora parritae - I've wanted one for a billion years, but can't grow the seeds (i'll have to try and get a plant in the future - and then go bankrupt)

    This facility does an amazing job of replicating a mountain cloud forest climate but since in a contained space cold air sinks and hot air rises the ‘mountain ‘ gets warmer as you climb instead of colder as is the case in nature. This situation will present some interesting challenges in selecting the ideal placement for individual plants in regards to the light, temperature, humidity, air circulation, etc., occurring in a given location. These and other ‘complex ‘big picture ‘ issues are sure to stimulate some innovative approaches and ongoing troubleshooting by Mr. Davis and his colleagues. He may not know the names of all his charges but I’m sure he is accumulating a wealth of cutting edge knowledge that will help keep this incredible assemblage of flora thriving in the years to come. ~ As I’m sure you have discovered by now, Brighamia insignis does have a natural dormancy period. It usually occurs in summer for one to two months but may also happen if the plant is moved. ~ (For any of your viewers interested in further information on Brighamia and related Hawaiian endemics , I have a group of eight videos on this subject on my ‘Plants of the World ‘ playlist, on my ‘channel ‘, or search TH-cam for Steve Perlman, botanist.)

    Is there going to be a video on the desert plants?

    • @Komadin
      @Komadin 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doesnt look like the cloud forest does desert as they maintain a massive amount of humidity and simulate tropical biome

      @@Komadin no but gardens by the bay has other sections one of which contains desert plants :)
