  • How I Got Robbed In Ghana at Kokrobite Beach | Story time
This is my experience of how I got robbed at the beach whilst on holiday in Ghana.
This video is to inform others so they don’t experience the same thing. This raises questions around the safety of Ghana and whether Ghana is safe when going to places privately owned by locals.

Well done Akua... I admire your entrepreneurial spirit. More importantly, I admire what you are doing to promote Africa and the African identity, culture, etc.
The books are an amazing resource to help parents teach their kids in our own African languages (twi, etc). It is so important that we teach our children how to speak and write in our languages.. It's OK to learn English but we must absolutely treasure our African languages.. . That's our identity, our roots, our culture!!!
Kudos for seeing that gap and helping to fill it. We all need such a resource.
PS: The beads are great too.

This is the same guy who orchestrated my friend to get robbed at Kokrobite beach. They broke into his car and took 1500 gha in Aug 202s. I looked so stupid when we found that. Thanks for having him on camera. You are a great investigative journalist. Now I have evidence to take this boy on when I got back to Ghana. Thanks so much for sharing.

Here's the most important point of th day!!
Anytime you find yourself or know of someone who got into this situation, you should expose them not only to the media as often as possible but with your recorded video and the guys phone number, you could have them all caught. Now days, all Ghanian most register their phone with their Ghana ID card or the phone gets deactivated.
That said, always get a number and test that number on the spot with your phone. If the guy is lying you will know then and there and it will also alert you what's really going on.
By doing nothing, you are in fact promoting the efforts of the robbers. They clearly took your money so WHYARE SYMPATHYING with Him or Them??

Greetings Akua it's most important to be absolutely aware of everything globally as anything can happen suddenly. I said this about Ghana that based on the current economic situation this kind of thing will happen more frequently because of desperation. They can use this energy to create a legitimate business. My phone was stolen the first day I was in Ghana and then the last day they tried again but no way we're you getting me twice. It's important to show these kinds of things to help others. Just still be your enjoyable self but be on your guard and aware of your surroundings. We must not be sold on the "Peace" in Ghana and anywhere in the world, everywhere in the world is unstable.

Also you can use the Aglow farm route to get to sankofa beach. The real beach is vast and transparent. That place you described is very dodgy. The same thing happened to my wife and I at the exact same place on that exact same bench. They took $800.00 dollars from my wife's wallet and left 200. When we told Joseph he acted so surprise and alarmed and ran to the road as if he was really looking for the thieves. After seeing your video I'm sure his entire operation is a scam. We stayed and ate anyway and the experience was wonderful and Joseph seemed so genuine. SMH. This back in 2015 so they have been doing this for a long time. I went back with my nephew in 2020 but I had the driver continue to patrol and check the car. He saw a kid trying to break into the car but was startled and ran away.

To some extent you have to bring the vigilance that you get from being from the west. I don't plan on being in Ghana without some form of weapon! I know this is bad to say, but one of them lil boys gonna mess around and end up getting killed! Everybody's reaction to being robbed isn't victim, some folks bring the wolf out and reflex attack!
Glad you handled it the way you saw fit.. Good vibes, and love to you, and your family.

Just as we were about to tell more of our people here in Toronto to visit that area when they come to Ghana. It should be reported to the Police for them to investigate. Anything that wasn't really needed was locked in the car.
