- This is a Don't starve Together guide that goes over everything you need to know before entering the caves. It goes over new monsters, such as slurtles, splumonkeys, and dangling depths dwellers. New biomes, such as The Atrium and The Mushroom Forest. And goes over new objects, such as lichen and spilagmites.
Don't Starve is a game about uncompromising survival, you play as one of eleven characters in Don't Starve Together and Reign of Giants, these are; Wilson, Willow, Wolfgang, Wendy, WX-78, Wickerbottom, Woodie, Wes, Maxwell, Wigfrid, or Webber.
Using one of these characters you enter a hostile world, filled with oddities, talking pigs, giant spiders, tree monsters (Tree guards), the deerclops, giant geese, or moose (moose goose) depending on how you look at it, and much more! Follow the guide, Edgy Rick, and he will make sure that you stand out on top, and most importantly, that you Don't Starve.

As a person who regularly bases in caves in DST, few things that should be noted.
Rock lobsters and bunny men are both insanely useful for making mob farms. Bunnies can be used to murder themselves with just 1 carrot by using a fake attack on another bunny after befriending one near a group, wait til dawn when the survivors go back inside to loot the meat, carrots should be CAREFULLY picked up as picking up meat by mistake can be fatal.
Rock lobsters can be used to farm spiders forever. Place a rock in a boxed in area, next to a spider nest, drag befriended lobsters to it and the lobsters will never stop fighting them, and since they heal after taking too much damage they won't die either, giving you free access to silk and monster meat.
Areas that can tell the time of day, or light up can be used to create farms, berry bushes, ect as they count as getting daylight. Helpful for sources of veggies underground without heading near the ruins or if you have bad mushrooms biome spawns.
Barring someone digging up all the blue and green mushrooms usually the medium to larger versions of those biomes can net you enough sanity restoration that with a fridge you can keep yourself sane. Additionally the red picked mushrooms are great vegetable replacements for the crockpot.
The spiders who shield themselves are easy to handle, as soon as they shield themselves don't attack them for a few seconds and they will pop back out taking full damage again.
Edit: If you are not ready for a rock worm wave early, flee to a bunny village and run circles until they die. Just be careful getting the berry as picking up the meat is bad and the bunnies will eat the glow berry, especially annoying if you are using moggles.
Any area with light can be used for farms, that includes unnatural light too, sanity restoration is a waste of time, killing the armored spiders is a waste of time but they're not hard, be careful of fleeing to bunny men villages, bunny men are extremely dangerous if you have meat.

I enjoy these videos, as they give true factual information that not only help you survive, but help make your days you survive more efficient, like for example; staying insane.
Toadstool is very useful dude, his Shroom lamp is amazing for decoration, and also can have infinite light, making yourself a GORGEOUS BASE ARCTECTURE
Antlion cave ins are a benefit what do you mean. You can move around the boulders and use them as walls to an underground base, and if you don't want that it's just a resource delivery, mine them for rocks.

although toadstools drops are useless i do think you should fight the boss as he is entertaining to fight with pretty visuals and unique attacks, its also an enjoying challenge to fight an toadstool which has been affected by an canary
There's a way to tell if you gonna find a depth worm, if the mysterious plant is wet then it's a depth worm, if it's not wet, then it's not a worm

Hi! Your videos are really informative, but I wish you would elaborate more on why certain items or enemies are deemed useless.
Toadstool and its drops are mostly useless because it takes way too long to kill (52,5k health) and mushlights and glowcaps are easily replaceable

Fun fact about the underground earthquakes; they can lead to confusing the entire surface. Was almost dead, got K.O'd by falling debris, and everyone saw 'Babbleplay has been killed by Gold Nugget.'

fun fact:if you spawn a Varg in the caves it will call depths worms but the worms will kill the Varg but run away as soon as there's 3 of them.

I was at a new cave point then my run instantly ended because I was in the middle of a bunnymen I was attacked by like fifty at once and was currently running away from the dragonfly (btw I know just to kill them now) and I was low health......

Yes, actually, it would! If you kit enough shadow creatures, you can easily harvest nightmare fuel. Kitting the shadow creatures is apparently really easy, and I'd suggest using the ham bat. All in all, the belt is definitely worth it when it comes to Wolfgang!

You are playing the game wrong then. Living logs are rare and extremely useful for almost everything. Have you ever made a dark sword?

I think the mushroom planter is good
I think 12 mushrooms for a single living log is a good deal. Mushrooms help manage sanity (keeping it low or high) and they only normally regrow after rain. You are likely to find plenty of Treeguards anyway when using giants to break trees so I think it is a good idea to get a mushroom planter
Also if you use a spore you get 6 mushrooms so if it wasn’t a good deal before it is now

Okay! Flowers will normally spawn butterflies. When killed, their wings help you restore HP fairly quick. They hide away at dusk and night, though, so it's best to spend the daytime harvesting them.

yes and no slupers can be taken to the surface (and possibly to your shadow manipulator) to make the belt of hunger which can help woflgang stay mighty for longer and other characters well ... to starve less like toadstools drop the mushroom hats bluepring and they are good for everybody well since it helps the mighty for of wolfgang + the belt of hunger = alot more time mighty for other characters ? THEY WILL STARVE EVEN LESS

Quick question. Would it be better to be Insane when fighting a boss just because they do more damage and attack faster? (I'm not too sure on them attacking faster)
Remix Remake Well, being insane is good in many cases, except for fighting bosses, as you'll end up having to fight multiple things at once. So it's best stay sane IF you're gonna fight a boss.

Swagmuffin Thing But while fighting a boss? You'd not only be attacked by the boss, but also the nightmare creatures. It's a lot harder to fight multiple things at once, and you'd most likely be focusing on the boss at hand, and mark the battle a lot harder and longer then intended. It's best stay sane with regular bunnymen if you're gonna fight a boss.
LiveAndLearn if the boss is dead in half the time is it worth it tho
Okay, I mean I wouldn't risk having to fight the boss with shadow creatures attacking me, anything otherwise is your choice.

Can rock lobsters be taken into the surface in DST? In regular Don't Starve they can and can be very usefull, even tough they will take over the entire world and you'll have to deal with their sound forever.
They can NOT be brought to the surface in DST.
Ya because my first reaction after seeing a giant purple mushroom is to cop it down with a pickaxe
My only problem is sanity it is not a problem at up but it is a problem in caves becuse you cant see thm they are like hiding maan
