- What We're Shopping For At The Newport Boat Show. It's Day 1 of the show and we're also prepping the boat for a hurricane. We're securing our sails and gearing up for the storm.
Now that we have been cruising for a year, we're eyeing a new, lighter dinghy and considering folding props. Plus, we're in search of paddleboards and foul-weather gear for colder climates. Dive Systems are a must-have for easy boat cleaning.

Newport is a great show and Newport’s Sailing history is epic. Hope you enjoy the town.
We wish we had more time to explore the town but we did get to go to a really cool museum in Bristol for dinner and see the first catamaran built! We appreciate you Scott and hopefully we will get to come back again soon and see you!
Congratulations on being nominated for 2 awards! So proud of you! Stay safe, 🥰
Thank you!! We love you! :)
You got it.
Great Video guys, it's awesome to see you more than once a week.
Thanks Brian! Hey did you ever figure out if you will be able to make it to Annapolis this year?
@@adventurecrews Sorry Cole that is took so long to reply. I don't think I will be able to make it this year.
Thanks!
Hey there!! Thanks so much for this!! We really appreciate it so much!!
I voted for you!! Hope you win the high field!!
Thank you so much!!
We RV on land as we have a Class -A and we don’t tow a car. We got electric bikes, with baskets to carry items like groceries and it changed our lives so much! Highly recommend them!
What kind do you have? We are looking for bikes that are small and folding.
Good luck! I voted and I hope you win the dinghy! 😍
Thank you so much Grandmother ❤️
Through storms just to arrive in time for a hurricane. Hope you win some awards and get back to fun (non-storming) cruising.
Donate for a Dream
No kidding!! Thank you so much!
My peoples! Great video , and Great meeting you cats! #mattdv
Likewise my friend!! It was so nice meeting you!!
Another hurricane!?!!? Y'all need to get yourselves over to the west coast.
Lol seriously!
🤠👍
Just got the record, the East Coast RARELY has any hurricane activity in the north half of the states. Yes, watch it if in FL, GA, SC, NC but up NE, no. Yes, we have to carefully plan the trek from Newport to the Caribbean to be post hurricanes season, and that's getting harder, since it's longer, but group travel down helps everyone. Hang together sailors!! Enjoy beautiful Newport, the waterfront restaurants, and great beaches! See you next in Annapolis!
Hi Cathryn! Looking for to it…our should be say “Super Excited”! Thank you for the comment!
We just discovered your channel. We just started our journey toward boat ownership and your content have been very helpful. Enjoying and learning from your experience. Hope to see you at the Annapolis boat show next month.
PS - voted for you guys. hope you win!
Welcome aboard and thank you so much we greatly appreciate it!
Keep those wish list in your pocket and when you get a bigger boat you’ll have room. Lol
I think feathering props work better than folding. Gill makes great gear and its very well priced. We have all Gill onboard. so at 2:42 you guys literally go right by the boat at the end of the dock as you are heading in. Funny.
So I (Cole) really like Gill products but I didnt understand why the zipper is on the wrong side LOL simple things but it felt strange zipping it up.
@@adventurecrews well they drive in the left….. is their women’s zipper on the same side as men’s? I know here it’s offer opposite
It is on the left as well...LOL and yes you are correct they drive on the left. LOL
so we were docked at the end of the dock you are standing on ( midtown race club) . Black sloop with a lot of varnish!!!! was hoping to see her in your video, but you did not turn the camera around.
Oh no!! Next time say something lol! Cheers
@@adventurecrews didn’t know you were there. Just watching the video and I’m like I know that dock!!!
at 13 seconds we are in the shot getting fuel delivered. 60ft but looks small from the air, she doesnt feel small when docking!!!!!

I bet, 60' in any size boat can feel big especially with some wind.
It's called Inflation and High Interest rates is why not many people around. Less and less money means less and less people.
So it should be a good chance you can find a good deal.
Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii!
I am not going to disagree with you but on top of that…there was a hurricane just offshore lol
Some things to think about. Instead of having that floating compressor for diving, just buy a second hand dive tank, and a hose with the correct regulators. Then buy a Yong Heng compressor. I have the same setup on my Catalina 30. YEs a dive compressor on a Catalina 30. Just make sure you buy a series of the correct filters and use food grade synthetic compressor oil. I have a video, full page compressor checklist, and component purchasing source list if you are interested. Basically with a little floaty you have the same thing that doesn't cost 3k as that blue thingy. Then you are all set for diving, which I know you are capable of doing. New topic; If you do get folding props they are more efficient at sailing usually, but not always motoring. Also reverse performance usually sucks in a lot of brands. Also like i said before the long unfold "Throw" is often pretty violent unless you are super easy on the unfold. This makes the mechanism loose pretty fast. Also many have galvanic corrosion issues due to sub par zincs. Meaning they aren't big enough to prevent the prop being eaten....because many don't have a good spot for placement. This further loosens the mechanism up and I've known some people this likely has caused the prop to just fall off even before they really look bad. It eats the area around the set screws on the sail drive shaft...Oh and as far as foul weather gear, brand name is nice but I just bough the same thing in snow gear. The snow gear gets you 95% of the way to actual foulies at 1/4 the cost. I'm bringing my Isuzu NPR Overlander conversion up to Annapolis for a week or two for the Sailboat show., and I'll go over and vote for you for the awards. Oh one last thing if you need a new dighy and the few extra pounds can be handled by your davits get a Whaly 310 or 370. IT will last you a lifetime.
Wow thanks for all the good information we will certainly check it out and looking forward to talking with you in Annapolis!
Are you guys heading to annapolis from there?
We have a big trip to Annapolis we can’t wait to tell you about!
Voted for both, good luck guys! And as hurricane veterans, you got this. Been looking at catamarans for down the road, it's just the wife and I, is the Leopard 44 big enough or small enough for the two of you? I like the Leopard cats, and trying to decide (prematurely) between the 42, 44, or the 45. And in the spirit of transparency, I haven't been on any of these boats, only seen on TH-cam. At this time, my sailing interest is strictly Eastern seaboard, and the Caribbean, we're both divers, so really leaning to the islands. No hurries on the reply, I'm sure you have your hands full with the boat show and pending weather. Good Luck.
Thank you so much Mike! Also you are going to love our upcoming videos right before and during the Annapolis show! Can’t spill the beans just yet but I can grantee you will enjoy them!
sweet, I wait with baited breath
