  • Come along as we continue work on our new 5 acre property. The skid loader was working hard digging out roots, clearing brush, grading, and spreading gravel. We made better progress than I was hoping and a building is right around the corner, HOPEFULLY! Enjoy

Ryan, I would HIGHLY recommend getting a fuel tank now that you have the new property. Call a guy, order a few hundred gallons at the beginning of the season. Put a lock on it obviously, but it's the way to go.
    1. You can game the fuel market a little bit by buying before summer.
    2. Reduce time and fuel wasted going to the gas station, and having to deal with gathering receipts and giving people cash to go and get more fuel.
    3. Total relief not having to wonder how much fuel is in all your equipment, Just top em off in the morning and you're golden. Only fuel level you have to worry about is the one in the storage tank, and the best part is when it gets low, it's easier than ordering concrete to get more.
    4. You have electricity at the new property so you don't have to settle for a gravity fed tank.
We did it on our farm, and its the bee's knees.
    -Much respect from Ohio

Even though I have no reason to own a skid steer, I absolutely love those little machines! I wish I was in the right business just so I would have a reason to own one 😊, their design, size, power, all the tasks you can do with one machine with countless attachments… It is one of those machines that they got right. Is it track machine / skid steer? (Both?)

Ryan looking good. Rather than getting Ray to dump gravel in one spot get him to tip in several locations. It will make levelling with the New Holland easier (less distance to travel). I've seen vids of drivers tipping their loads along the whole length of tracks. Would make for a great vid if Ray can master that trick.

As dirt works guy who doesn't really use tracked skid loaders on job we do, I'm very impressed with what you could do with the machine and how well it worked. Obviously would be a lot quicker with a dozer but you did a really good job. Some things I might suggest are using some of the broken concrete to fill in a lot of the low spots. Even if you had to dig out the hole a bit to get the concrete in it and give you a solid sub it would save you in dump fees, gravel, you could use the fill for other spots. Also, if Ray could practice spreading rock, a bit even if its quite thick, it would save you ALOT of time and diesel so all you have to do is work on grading and if you need more you have have him spot dump it here and there and just work on smaller areas at at time. We both know how time consuming it can be going back and fourth from gravel pile to the grade. Keep up the great work! Love the channel!

Ryan maybe consider leaving a berm along the road for privacy purposes. Think that ridge would have made a good 4’ high berm for you. If not maybe a row of Pine trees etc instead
