Amen. We need to take our eyes off ourselves and look to Christ. "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." (Hebrews 12:2)
"And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me." (Luke 9:23)

_If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation._ (Romans 8-10)
Believe in Christ, and don't let anything get in the way. Let old habits and sins go, and come instead to Christ. Read the Bible, pray to the Lord, and have fellowship with other Christians. You will grow in love for Christ and other believers, as you obey the Lord in all areas of your life.

“I will put my dwelling place among you, and I will not spurn you. I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people.” - (Leviticus 26: 11-12) -
“I will raise up for them a prophet like you [Moses] from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put my words in his mouth.” - (Deuteronomy 18: 18) -
“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign: A young woman is with child, and she will bear a son, and will call him Immanuel.” [“God is with us”] - (The Prophet Isaiah 7: 14) -
“If you have ears to hear: then hear.” - (Immanuel called Jesus the Messiah, at Mark 4: 23) -
“God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” - (Jesus, at John 4: 24) -
“In truth I tell you, anyone who gives heed to what I say and puts his trust in him who sent me, has hold of eternal life and does not come up for judgement, but has already passed from death to life.” - (at John 5: 24) -
“When you pray, go into a room by yourself, and shut the door. Pray to your Father who is there in the secret place; and your Father who sees what is secret will reward you.
In your prayers do not go babbling on like the heathen, who imagine that the more they say the more likely they are to be heard.
Do not imitate them. Your Father knows what your needs are before you ask him.
This is how you should pray:
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
Your kingdom come; your will be done, on earth as in heaven,
Give us each day our daily bread,
Forgive us the wrong we have done, as we have forgiven those who have wronged us.
And do not bring us to the test, but save us from the evil one.
For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, for ever.
    Amen.
For if you forgive others the wrongs they have done, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if you do not forgive others, then the wrongs you have done will not be forgiven by your Father.” - (Jesus, at Matthew 6: 6-15) -
“Pass no judgement, and you will not be judged. For as you judge others, so you will yourselves be judged, and whatever measure you deal out to others will be dealt back to you.” - (at Matthew 7: 1-2) -
“I am the light of the world. No follower of mine shall wander in the dark; he shall have the light of life.” - (John 8: 12) -
“Always treat others as you would like them to treat you: that is the Law and the Prophets.
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it.- (Matthew 7: 9-14) -
“Truly I tell you; if anyone obeys my teaching he shall never know what it is to die.” - (John 8: 51) -
“Beware of false prophets, men who come to you dressed up as sheep while underneath they are savage wolves. You will recognize them by the fruits they bear.” - (Matthew 7: 15-16) -
“I am the gate; anyone who comes into the fold through me shall be safe. He shall go in and out and shall find pasturage.
The thief comes only to steal, to kill, to destroy; I have come that men may have life, and may have it in all its fullness.” - (John 10: 9-10) -
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” - (Matthew 7: 21) -

“I have not come to judge the world, but to save the world” - (John 12: 47) -
“Whoever then will acknowledge me before men, I will acknowledge him before my Father in heaven; and whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.” - (Matthew 10: 32-34) -
“Any plant that is not of my heavenly Father’s planting will be rooted up. Leave them alone; they are blind guides, and if one blind man guides another they will both fall into the ditch.” - (Matthew 15: 13-14) -
“I am the way; I am the truth and I am life; no one comes to the Father except by me. If you knew me you would know my Father too.” - (John 14: 6-7) -
“The disciples came and asked Jesus, ‘Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven?’ He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: ‘Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of Heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.
If anyone causes one of these little ones-those who believe in me-to stumble, It would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.
Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!’” - (Matthew 18: 1-7) -
“Though many are called, few are chosen.” - (Matthew 22: 14) -
“An expert in the law, [a leading religious Pharisee] tested him with this question: ‘Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?’ He answered, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind. That is the greatest commandment. It comes first. The second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself.
Everything in the Law and the Prophets hangs on these two commandments.’” - (Matthew 22: 35-40) -
“Do not call any man on earth ‘father’; for you have one Father and he is in heaven. Nor must you be called ‘teacher’; you have one Teacher, the Messiah.” - (Matthew 23: 9-10) -
“Take care that no one misleads you: For many will come claiming my name…”
    - (Matthew 24: 4) -
“Many false prophets will arise, and will mislead many; and as lawlessness spreads, men’s love for one another will grow cold. But the man who holds out to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the Kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the earth as a testimony to all nations; and then the end will come.” - (Matthew 24: 11-14) -
“There is no greater love than this, that a man should lay down his life for his friends.” - (John 15: 13) -
“One of the criminals who hung there also mocked and taunted him: ‘Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself, and us!’ But the other criminal rebuked him. ‘Have you no fear of God? You are under the same sentence as he. For us it is plain justice; we are paying the price for our misdeeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.’ And he said, ‘Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.’ He answered, “I tell you this: today you shall be with me in Paradise.’” - (Luke 23: 39-43) -
“For it is my Father’s will that everyone who looks upon the Son and puts his faith in him shall possess eternal life; and I will raise him up on the last day” - (John 6: 40) -

To be close to God we must pray in the way that Jesus teaches…
“Take care that no one misleads you: For many will come claiming my name…”
    - (Matthew 24: 4) -
“God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” - (John 4: 24) -
“When you pray, go into a room by yourself, and shut the door.
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
Your kingdom come; your will be done, on earth as in heaven,
Give us today our daily bread,
And forgive us the wrong we have done, as we have forgiven those who have wronged us.
And do not bring us to the test, but save us from the evil one.
For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, for ever.
    Amen.
For if you forgive others the wrongs they have done, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if you do not forgive others, then the wrongs you have done will not be forgiven by your Father.” - (Matthew 6: 6-15) -
“Truly I tell you; if anyone obeys my teaching he shall never know what it is to die.” - (John 8: 51) -
“Pass no judgement, and you will not be judged. For as you judge others, so you will yourselves be judged, and whatever measure you deal out to others will be dealt back to you.” - (Matthew 7: 1-2) -
“Is there a man among you who will offer his son a stone if he asks for bread, or a snake when he asks for fish? If you, then, bad as you are, know how to give your children what is good for them, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him!
Always treat others as you would like them to treat you: that is the Law and the Prophets.
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it.
Beware of false prophets, men who come to you dressed up as sheep while underneath they are savage wolves. You will recognize them by the fruits they bear.” - (Matthew 7: 9-16) -
“I am the gate; anyone who comes into the fold through me shall be safe.” - (John 10: 9) -
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” - (Matthew 7: 21) -
“I am the resurrection and I am life. If a man has faith in me, even though he dies, he shall come to life; and no one who is alive and has faith shall ever die.” - (John 11: 25-26) -
“I have not come to judge the world, but to save the world”
    - (John 12: 47) -
“Whoever then will acknowledge me before men, I will acknowledge him before my Father in heaven; and whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.” - (Matthew 10: 32-34) -
“The disciples came to Jesus and asked, ‘Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven?’ He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. "Stay awake, and pray that you may be spared the test. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." - (Matthew 26: 41) -
“Teach them to observe all that I have commanded you. And be assured, I am with you always, to the end of time.” - (Matthew 28: 20) -

@@onlytruthmatters777have you tried giving thanks in all things? Even the difficult things? There are many components to having real joy, such as choosing to follow Christ instead of self, renouncing sin, setting your heart on things above and watching and waiting for Christ return, but one thing that is often overlooked by Christians is our need to be thankful in all situations. If something good happens, we can be thankful for that. If something that seems bad happens, we can be thankful in that. There are almost always things we can learn which the Lord is trying to teach us, no matter how difficult the situation may be. He refines those whom he loves, and he does that through circumstances that are less than pleasing to the flesh. He is good, in all situations, and thank worthy.

What can one do when they did something wrong 40 years ago and the person is no longer among the living? Also living on the other side of the world. Is there then no hope for salvation if one can not repent from that sin?

    • @jeremiahzeiset
      @jeremiahzeiset 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Good question. Surely God doesn't expect us to do the impossible. But, if we sinned against someone and are unwilling to make restitution, to not return something we stole (for example), then surely our heart isn't right before God. But, there are plenty of situations where restitution isn't possible. Think about the thief on the cross. He had no time to go make anything right before he died, yet Jesus forgave him and told him that "today you will be with me in paradise." The Lord is very forgiving, but our hearts must be truly repentant, and if that is our case, we will want to make restitution were we should. But, ask the Lord, and He will show you what is best.

Hello John. I suspect that most people do not have a mom anywhere close to what Jesus would like parents to be. However, the choice to follow Jesus is still ours. What might have been love for our moms can be love for Jesus. Regardless of what your own situation is like, I am confident you can love the Lord so much that any empty place in your hearts fade away in importance, and you can find you even love those who do not love you. Keep looking to Christ for all things, my friend.

    What’s the unforgivable sin?

    • @jeremiahzeiset
      @jeremiahzeiset 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

It seems to me that there is one major unforgivable sin - that of rejecting the Lord and specifically the Holy Spirit. "Therefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven unto men.
And whosoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him, but whosoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this age, neither in the age to come." - Matthew 12:31-32
So exactly what does this unforgivable sin look like? I don't know for sure, but one thing for sure - those who reject God will not be found in heaven. Refusing to believe and to follow the Lord as He leads via the Holy Spirit, refusing to allow Him to draw us to Himself, and then even boldly rejecting and blaspheming the Holy Spirit does seem grounds for not earning salvation.
Its seems pretty simple, as I write this out. It's not about slipping and making mistakes. This sin is about intentionally, deliberately rejecting the Lord. Their comes a time when individuals can't find it in themselves to come back to the Lord, even on their deathbed. But, if one sins, and can find it within himself to come back to the Lord, I also believe that these scriptures are true:
All that the Father gives me shall come to me, and he that comes to me I will in no wise cast out. - John 6:37
My little children, I write these things unto you, that ye sin not; and if anyone has sinned, we have an Advocate before the Father, Jesus, the righteous Christ; - 1 John 2:1

Jeremiah Zeiset I believe in Jesus and what he did at the cross for us, but years ago I refused to stop playing video games and going to the movies etc and now I don’t have a burning desire to do what’s right, I don’t feel sorrow when I sin only fear. I feel emotionless, I have clinical depression and OCD. I take medication I don’t know if it has to do with any of that

I'll consider this and may consult with others, and will be praying. I'll be in touch in a day or two with further thoughts. I've had some experience with the same problems, and think there are some good and helpful biblical answers I can share.

    • @jeremiahzeiset
      @jeremiahzeiset 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Roberto, I've been thinking and praying about you. I had OCD as a child, and still display some symptoms. What happened to me though is that I came to the point where I was able to tell the Lord that while I didn't truly want to live for Him, that I was willing to have Him change my heart so that I WOULD at least be willing to live for Him. The Lord honored that request, and He changed my heart. I can't claim any credit for it, and I can't say that my own emotions or feelings had anything to contribute to the matter. I don't think it's about how we feel at all, but about us sincerely asking the Lord to change our heart. A new heart is what is required, and that only comes from the Lord. And what's best is that all we can do is come to the Lord with this need, and trust that He will do what He says He will do. Here are several scriptures for you to consider:
God, create a clean heart for me
and renew a steadfast spirit within me. - Psalm 51:10 (Like David, we can ask the Lord to create a clean heart in us).
Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out - Acts 3:19 (We have to turn from sin, whatever our sin is at the moment, and can ask the Lord to help us do even that).
And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household. - Acts 16:31 (Believing in the Lord, and following Him, is the key. Very simple on paper, but hard on the flesh. With His help and strength though, it is more than possible).
All of you, take up My yoke and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for yourselves. - Matthew 11:20 (Learning from Jesus is very important. Simply spend time reading the Bible, praying and asking the Lord to show you what it means, and keep reading and/or listening to an audiobible).
You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. - John 8:32 (The truth is what sets us free. It's not our own thoughts, our own feelings even, or what others say. It's the truth, hence the need to read and believe what the Bible says. If the Lord says repent, then do that and believe that by doing what He says, it is enough. Whatever the Bible says is true, and more to be trusted than any man's words).
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. - Mark 12:31 (The most important commandment is to love God. That doesn't happen without spending time with Him, and neither is it only a feeling. True love does what love requires regardless of how we feel at the moment. We do right things better out of love for God than for any other reason).
And He who searches the hearts knows the Spirit’s mind-set, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. - Romans 8:27 (Remember that the Lord intercedes for His people, and often all He's waiting for is for us to tell Him we're willing to follow Him.)
I hope these verses help, and that you find the freedom and peace that you desire in Christ alone. The fact that you are seeking is a good thing. Simply take it all to the One who is able to truly help, and don't give up soon. The enemy of our souls wants us to get off our knees and to go do something other than read the Bible, but that is where it starts for those who wish to begin.

Sorry the reading sounds mechanical and too speedy to me. Compare to Christensen's reading of "The Pursuit of God," another of your uploads. That one is superb. This one sounds like someone reading aloud before a class, beautiful voice and enunciation perfect, but somehow the real meaning of the writing does not come across in the reading. I find sing-song-y, arbitrarily inflected readings like this impossible to follow.

Something that has helped me when I find the narrator/reader to be speaking to quickly is that I will change the playing speed.
      1. I pause the video.
      2. I tap the three dots (usually at the top right.
      3. I tap playback speed.
      4. I usually tap 0.75x
      - it usually helps, especially if the reader has peculiar speech mannerisms or a thick accent.
