I recommend downloading blender gurus shortcut sheets and print it out and put it in a binder Just search blender guru then go to his beginner tutorial then go in the description then click the link for it in the description then download it
@@cottoncherry2177 But renders can be tricky. If you want an isometric (i.e. zero perspective) view of the model with no lighting interrupting the textures, the settings have to be quite different than the default. (And I never figured out how to set them because I'm a hack I guess)

With lots of practice and patience, we finally got where we wanted to be! To Anyone reading this who is currently trying to learn the software, just be be patient and keep practicing! Hi Peter, To get the smooth definition in blender for sculpting and modelling, it's necessary to play with subdivision modifiers and smoothing options (usually by enabling the Shade Smooth option)

I've been hanging around the Blender for a long time now and compared to a lot of other noobies these are somewhat decent first sculpts. Yeah you're making a lot of beginner mistakes, but you definitely have a better sense of 3D geometry than a lot of people,
ok for the spikes use hair in the particles tab, to avoid it being pixely right click it and press shade smooth, and you should use edit mode more, its pretty usefull.
Also I get the confusion, Patter. I've worked years in a different program, then tried Blender. Similar beast, but still super confusing despite it all. You'd think it'd be a walk in the park.

Wow. I was not expecting to see one of my favorite TH-camrs to be trying out Blender today. And as a learning 3D artist I feel these struggles all too well haha.
By the way, the reason the the dots on the eyes appeared on the nose is because your UV map (basically if you cut the model up and laid it flat that would be the UV map) was aligned wrong and painting the colours on bled over from one vertex to another. Also you should have used smooth shading (right click and select smooth shading) and dynamic topology so instead of moving vertices it added them

The video is old and Peter probably won't read this, but turn on dyntopo/dynamic topology (it adds more polygons, detail, while sculpting). You also can turn on smooth shading once you finished the 3d model (press either space, shift+space or f3 to search for it). Then you can add lights and a camera so you can render the image (top left render and then image). The "fragmenting" is caused by not having a good unwrap of the model. UV/unwrap is like if you were to wrap the model up in paper and then color the paper. It's a pain to deal with and I wouldn't worry too much about it.
I love the fact that this is called "How to use blender" because someone who is looking for an actual tutorial might stumble upon this video and just hear Peter say "Yeah I don't know how to use Blender."

the first thing suprised me, you could either shade smooth or use multires to subdevide it to make it smoother, but tbh it looks best the way it is
The few of the only thing I am somewhat good at doing in Blender is creating 2D models.
To make it not pixelated select the thing you're making, right click it then press "smooth shading"
