I have one and love it. Analog with digital quarter-drive chronograph with indiglo? Already you are in unique territory, it has ~4 motors and does all sorts of cool things, they use computer compensation to fly-back the seconds hand to the timepoint where it belongs (the chrono starts from the moment you hit the switch), and they are very beautiful and with great build quality.
This is exactly how a watch should be reviewed! A short precis at the start to showcase the features and then a more in depth examination of those features. Well done mate! You have a new subscriber here!
Great enthousiastic, fun to watch review. Got the T2P104 today, second-hand, but in mint condition for only 10 euro. This is about $ 11,50! Made my day!
I've had one of these watches for a few years now and agree about the case back/battery change nuisance. Other than that, a really, really nice watch that works splendidly. Thanks for the review!
Great review of the watch! Long time viewer here and I just got a new Seiko 5 and your reviews definitely helped me choose what to get. Thanks for all the great content!
If you’re not planning on swimming with this watch on, then honestly, the snap-back case is perfectly fine! If I was to buy this watch someday, I certainly wouldn’t wear it near water-unless I’m just washing my hands or something simple like that. So to me, a snap-back isn’t really a deal-breaker.
I have a question about the TX compass fly back chronograph watch! I have one that when i bought it worked perfectly now the 24 hour complication the hand bottoms out against the side and when it reads 1hour sits in the middle at the 12 o clock position rather than the 1 hour position where it should be! Any thoughts or advice? Im ready to give it to a watch maker to have it fixed! My guess the hand is slipping on the axle! I have a seiko 5 automatic brand new and the hour hand does the same thing it is rather upsetting to say the least! i have tons of Citizen Eco drive watches and besides my grand seiko's and 1 Tag the timex and the seiko 5 are the worst watches I've ever bought! Perhaps i just got a lemon with both of them? Id like to hear your thoughts thanks!
I need a video explaining how to set the GMT on this. I get the chronograph function (altho it gets squirrely after 4 hrs), but am absolutely lost on how to set, read, and track the GMT time.
You can replace the battery yourself, a standard 2016 lithium, but it is held in by one absolutely tiny screw so u need good eyesight. Quick tip....put a small powerful magnet on the screwdriver shaft so the screw sticks onto the driver There is a recess in the back cover at about 1 o' clock to remove the back. I wear this watch at weekends so the indigo is used sparingly and the original battery lasted 8 YEARS !
I love my timex flyback but i lost the screw for the battery. I have taken it to multiple jewelers and they cant identify the screw. Anyone have the specs?
wait until the black lining on the side of the strap peels off and see the layers of leather. it does smell leathery overtime. skin reacts with it when in contact with sweat, and oil darkens the lighter shade of strap in a different variant. just sayin, cheers.
Nice review but why not elaborate somewhat more on the aviation applications in stead of merely mentioning them? The mechanical equivalent you mention, the Bell&Ross, is, after all, an aviation watch too. But nice review anyway, you convinced me.
Way too big - make it 40mm and you have a classic design, that this Timex is only mimicking. As to flyback: check out the AUTOMATIC MECHANICAL flyback chronograph movement 8110A from Citizen, from around 1974. Its unique clutch mechanism allowed to fly back the chrono at any time (up to 12hr), but also worked best when ALWAYS in action. Opposite to the chrono wheel wear on your expensive Omega.. My Citizen chrono still runs at +/-2sec/day after 45 years, better than many of these TImex quartz watches do, based on some horrifying reviews seen elsewhere (10min off per day, in a quartz movement! U.S.A. quality at its best..). You find 8110 based watches used for the price of a Timex, guess which one is the better choice.. A real intelligent addition would have been to measure SPLIT times, i.e. timing TWO events to catch the winner and also take the time of the opponent. Some clever quartz watches can do this, mechanical chronos use a 'drag pointer' second hand for this trick. Timex could have 'abused' the extra second hand (an unusual gimmick) for such a split measurement, they missed their chance.. Retrograde dials are impractical, as they only use a fractional arc of the 360degree circle to show times, thus enforcing tiny scale increments and more issues with hand pointing accuracy. Hit'n'miss is always an issue, especially on my mechanical retrograde models from China. I do admit that this Timex six-hander has an eye catching 'pilot' design, good contrasting hands/dials, a neat lume and additional Indiglo feature, for a reasonable price ($80 in 2022?). As to GMT: not sure what you mean, but the GMT (UTC) function is basically defined as a second, independent HOUR pointer, running at 24hr/day, eg. in the ETA 2893, ROLEX 3285. No mentioning of a supporting MINUTE feature; these watches just run a second hour hand out of their center, with an extra 24hr scale, sometimes city name bezels etc. YES, there are world time zones with 'odd' minutes (e.g. 30min or 45min). This Timex apparently offers a support of such 'off' zones by using the 4th central hand, but you do not show how to read such an odd second time zone completely (or did I miss it?). Nevertheless I am about to hunt down a used T2N932 (or T2N700) for my small collection, currently counting 110 watches, due to its odd design and unique features. Changing its unusual, large 2016 3V Li battery (due to the Indiglo power needs I guess) seems to be nightmarish. But then - I have all tools and presses at hand to attack this weird beast should I ever find one. Thanks for showing! If you're an office guy - do not wear a cheesy Timex; wear your classy Swiss watch instead!
You have excellent presentation skills which will only get better with time. I feel I should point out that it is not a GMT, but a dual time zone watch which is very different (and much more common and a lot cheaper). Also, comparing it to a $20,000 watch is absurd. Admittedly, the retrograde subdials are unusual at this price, but you can easily find others with this feature for around $200. If you do a little more research on your watches, you’ll be really great!
www.ablogtowatch.com/ask-watch-experts/what-is-a-gmt-watch/ This Timex is 100% a GMT Watch. Here are definitions which distinguishes the watches that display time for more than one time zone. 1. Dual Time Zone has a main local time and an additional 12 hour time tracking format tied to the main local hour and minute. Meaning if it is 3pm in New York I can have the second zone set for Dallas but that second zone is shadowing the main time. The Citizen Minute Repeater is a great example of this. th-cam.com/video/RpGEIAycVpA/w-d-xo.html&list=PLQf54-3SXdxVWPJSzQ9XiJBINjF6xH8bX&index=62 2. Multiple Time Zones. Here there is a main local time chosen to display from multiple zones. Basically after setting your local time and zone you just move the hour hand around the 12 hour dial and a display indicator tells you the current location(s) for a given time or vice versa the current time for a given location(s). The Citizen Chrono Time AT is an ideal example of this. th-cam.com/video/snkAY9-058w/w-d-xo.html&list=PLQf54-3SXdxVWPJSzQ9XiJBINjF6xH8bX&index=46 3. AM / PM 24 HR Zone. This watch has a main time keeping 12 hour indicator and an additional 24 hour sub dial that shadows the main local hour. This is a popular feature found on almost every other chronograph. When setting your watch you will see this sub dial hour hand move to indicate if the 12 hour time display is at a PM or AM. Because this sub dial often times have a 24 hour format it is often confused with a GMT function. The Seiko VS63 Mecha-Quartz and even my Omega Speedmaster 3520.50 are great examples of this. th-cam.com/video/3P75Guvn_pQ/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/eMxxwHZyLiE/w-d-xo.html 4. Full GMT watch will have the local main time displayed that is INDEPENDENT from a sub dial or additional hour hand that tracks a second time zone in the GMT 24hr format. This additional time zone can be set to GMT time or can be set to any other time you wish. For a GMT to be GMT this second sub dial or hour hand MUST BE INDEPENDENT of and from the main time keeping indicator. Looking at all these options the Timex is a GMT. I can set the GMT sub dial independent from the main local time dial and the Timex’s GMT sub dial can track its own time independent of the main local time dial. Furthermore the Fly back Chronograph is, to my surprise as well, much more rarer than you would think. Partly because it was a specialized complications that only few people used before the digital age. It wasn’t as popular as other complications when watch production evolved through the Quartz Revolution and a lot of watch makers dropped it in favour of regular chronographs. Flyback chronographs was at one point more prevalent than non-flyback chronographs during the early days of the chronograph.
0LAF2046 Well, at least you can’t argue that you’re presentation skills are great! I got that part right 🙄 Thanks for the lesson in horology. I’m just learning and thought I had gotten all this sorted out, but, obviously, haven’t. I’ll have to read your synopsis a couple of more times to get it all straight. Thanks again!
lol. No I didn't say it to argue. In fact I had to double check my stuff. What a GMT was always confused me as well. I actually think the dual time zone is more useful for civilians that are not pilots. Say my grandma lives in London and I live in New York and I don't want to call too late then having a Dual Time Zone will help me until I naturally know she is 5 hours ahead. GMT in fact is a little British Empire biased if you ask me and would have been a great watch for British colonizers of the world needing to calculate the time back home and time traveled over the oceans. GMT is one of those old world horology relics like the minute repeater flyback chrono that and thrown into watch movements to jack up the prices. At this point these previously functions have become fine art!
0LAF2046 That’s exactly how I use my Timex, I have it set for Nairobi time because I have family over there, and they don’t do DST, so I can’t remember which is which. Have a great day!

Timex has really improved their game! I love the Intelligent line

Hi friend, tell me please, which time can I measure without the chronograph ? 24h?
Why does this watch beep?
Can you record multiple times with the chronograph and read each time?
Thank you
Small thing but I love that T at the base of the short arm of the second hand.
