Thank you for the online lessons and I have enjoyed thoroughly. My humble suggestion is that if we wanted to show participation from various dancers (which is great!!) could we perhaps still have one frame of the studio with Ernst/Rex and beside it are fragments of screens from various dancers so that whoever needs to refer to the instructor is still able to do so? Thanks! Keep the lessons coming!

Thank you so much for bringing the world together with these videos, especially in these difficult times. I am a 50-year-old dancer in the United States, who hit the "pause" button on regular dance/choreography when I got cancer 6 years ago. I have since improved my health and kept fit with diet, crossfit training and Italian longsword practice, but I was missing my true heart's joy - dance. Before the pandemic, I couldn't find the right class to ease back into things. Once the lockdowns came, it was even more impossible. Then I came across your videos recently. As I literally put my old ballet technique shoes on, it was like figuratively putting on these familiar friends. All the muscle memory and brain memory came flooding back, but it was also a nice challenge (the good and bad habits came right back!). Thank you so much for bringing this light back into my life, especially in such uncertain times, when this art form is the most needed. I hope these valuable classes will not be taken down, so we can refer back, as needed.

Hello from Long Beach California! I am so thrilled to have discovered these classes. After almost 15 years away from ballet class I have rediscovered my body and I am thoroughly enjoying being a dancer again! It was so much fun to see other dancers doing class along with me. What an inspiration. I am eternally grateful for these classes and for the opportunity to dance again!

Can’t thank you enough for these classes. Ernst and Rex are the best. I’m 69 and took classes all my life until we moved to Arizona 15 years ago. I looked at classes but was embarrassed to try them. Ballet is in my soul and I’m so grateful to be able to take a class again. Actually surprised myself how well I did. Good technical training never goes away. I looked at a few other classes but none as good, specially Rex’s music 💞Thank you for bringing ballet back in my life!

What a terrific idea! This one online class took me back almost thirty years, when I still dancing semi-professionally. I felt like I was taking company class again. That was, until we got to the fondues. Agony! Back to the present I came. Thanks so much for a great idea, and a great class!

Dear Ernst and all at Dutch National Ballet. Thank you for keeping us sane here in Cape Town during lockdown. We have done barre with you religiously every morning for 2 weeks in the kitchen. Returning to Germany on Easter Monday which means we can do all 4 classes one more time before leaving. Emma-Louse & Andrew

Thank you, Ernst and Rex, for another clear and beautiful class. You do so much for the physical and mental health of myself and many others. The tiny pictures of the company dancers were not at all helpful for teaching me, but at age 71 I often need to backtrack and repeat your demonstration anyway to give myself a rest. It was interesting to get a glimpse into the home lives of Dutch ballet dancers, but I hope the future classes just show Ernst and Rex. Thanks again from Patricia, of San Diego, California, USA ,

Thank you so much. I am grateful for these online classes. I am not near the caliber of these beautiful humans, but being part of a community that pushes me to grow stronger, be more conditioned and constantly encouraging me to improve my technique brings me such joy. It was a hard day emotionally for me today, but I feel so much better now having gotten lost in the power of ballet. Thank you again. All stay safe and be well.

  • @kathyyzchang

This is by far the best online classes there are out there. I've been doing 1 of this each week and now I'm doing it all for the second time. It has been much easier the second time around. Never thought I would see so much improvement during lock down. My balance and calf endurance is much better than a few months ago. Fondu and frappe by far are the hardest to do with a kitchen bench because the "barre" height is not as "supportive". All the releves kill my calves too. The benefit of this class with company dancer is really seeing the small nuisances in upper body that really enhances artistry. I'm going to try and incorporate it into my barre. When travel is back to normal, definitely would want to see a performance by Dutch National Ballet!

Thank you so much to all of the dancers, Ernst, & Rex. This was such a great class, as it really looked and felt like a true 'company class'. The pace felt right; there was so much energy. While I have seen all 12 classes, this one feels the most memorable and soulful. Also: thank you to Rex for his moving rendition of "Send in the Clowns" by Stephen Sondheim. My heart just about broke when I heard his soulful music, beautifully matched by the pliés of these unforgettable dancers. A lovely memory - something good did come from this quarantine. Much love to you all!

Thank you so much for all your classes. I really appreciate them. However this class number 4 was impossible for me to follow. It's way to confusing with the so very fast explanation and then the images of multiple dancers. I will go back to repeat classes 1,2 and 3 ( I had to stop class 4 in the middle as it was making me dizzy and confused). But don't take me wrong, I really love what you and Rex are doing for all of us dance lovers around the word.

It is fun to see the dancers but what a shame we can't really see them/what they are doing. Of course we are lucky to be part of it, thank you for sharing but the individual shots are sometimes distracting unless we see the dancers' beautiful technique for inspiration. What is the point of seeing a bit of their torso with something in front of the camera for instance? For me, as an ex student dancer who is very rusty, it would be more valuable to watch @Ernst do at least the first side. Again im grateful, I imagine these classes are for their dancers, but since they are shared here, I thought I'd add my view. I hope all upcoming classes won't be like this but thanks to all anyway x

This is my favorite out of all the online classes out there. Thanks for some center ex. Question - would it be possible to have more of the center exercises like today? And...It's my personal preference - but I like the last 3 withOUT the multiple Zoom users. It's much cleaner that way. I think you may consider at least letting Mr. Meisner finish his demonstration first before switching the camera.

LOL! As I watch the control struggle to find someone doing the actual exercise and not their own variation of it, I can attest this is what a real pro class is like (minus the cute little kids wandering in).

Hi! you must watch the teacher. And then remember the combinations.

@@LilianaCoutoBallet he's not always in the picture and remembering the combination would imply that my brain is actually firing on all cilinders. Since I usually do my practice early in the morning it definitely isn't. And even when I am firing on all cilinders it usually takes me a few repetitions to remember combo's. I am a decent dancer but normally I do modern jazz I haven't done ballet since I was seventeen. when I can see the teacher/ hear him I can follow fine but without that it is going just a bit too fast too follow/ enjoy

hi there thank you for this class again. I haven't been taking a ballet class for many years, so its really fun for me in many ways! Very nice teacher! I like the other format. This one is confusing, there are too many people at the same time on the screen so that I can really watch anything. It is interesting to see how hard it can be for your dancers though. Maybe it would be nice to have only two images at a time: one with the teacher and one dancer and for the left side, two dancers? It is just a suggestion. Or maybe only one dancer at a time and then change? Thank you again and take care!

ah yes, one thing more: the milieu is very good! I was missing this part! And I am the singer of our band Tramay, just in case you are wondering how this band is participating. I am also doing dance in the band onstage! Not ballet though.
