Yes, day or two ago, other people, including me, commented here, and also on steam discussion forum, about this. Same place, like the sniper commentary around 3:20:39 is the last one I can do in my play through. I loaded save from before, and again, it was the last one I could do. And I started getting achievements (previous time I played HL2 fully was ages ago, and I think there were no achievements, so I had none). What OS and GPU you are using, just seeing if there are any similarities.
Same, that's how I ended up here. The final resistance battle always felt like a slog to me so it didn't strike me as super weird but it was disappointing. By the time I got halfway through the Citadel with no more bubbles I knew something was wrong lol
some maps in the game don't have any commentary bubbles. it seems entering these maps disables commentary mode for future maps (maps without commentaries i found are d3_c17_01, d3_c17_10(a,b). and d3_c17_13) To reenable commentary mode type "commentary 1" in the console
It's not, if I understood what they said correctly. The foliage was placed at random spots *when the level is compiled*, meaning when it is converted from the dev map editor into the form that the actual game runs. The shrubbery is at the same places in every released copy that is running on the same version, but the foliage was not placed manually by the level designers.
I appreciate the choreography in this video, little touches like cutting just after you toss the can towards the metrocop to him chasing you around the next room are just fun.

Listening the Developer Commentary while Playing Half-Life 2 was actually an Interesting Experience and made me Forgot that I was playing Half-Life 2, I like to make levels and have made some which are still WIP, And I found It very Interesting to listen to!👌 I found these parts also cool For Example, 27:42 - 1:08:51 - 1:25:06 etc. 1:36:53 the chopper bomb attack being an accident was interesting too
Two things i learned about Valve from this commentary. We couldn't do X because of performance reasons or we couldn't do Y because of lack of time. Just imagine what Half-Life 2 could have been!.
It's so interesting how despite that the game didn't really feel rushed to me. A big part is that they weren't afraid to entirely cut an element if they couldn't make it work right, so everything that is in the game feels finished, the stuff on the cutting room floor is the half-baked stuff that the game is probably better without.
either that or the engine repeating the same part of the sample over and over until the rest is streamed in. i guess what we're hearing are the cases where the 125ms chache sample was not long enough and io capacity is choked with something else, like level- or asset-streaming. resulting in the typical source engine audio stutters.
A lot of the early commentary nodes were pretty broad stuff about the context the game was made in and the overall technical aspects. The issue is more that the commentary is frontloaded, they ran out of broad stuff to say. Also it's 20 years later, it's tough to talk about something you did two decades ago.

As if you continue on to the final sequence, there can only be three turrets in the section, and the required turrets to start the sequence, end up either disappearing or dropping through the floor or something.. either way it completely makes the sequence break if you carried them over past the level transition... I can't remember exactly which sequences break from that in addition.. But I do know that final one does.
You can absolutely carry over another turret without any issues. I did that after hearing that node. That gives you 4 turrets for the fight instead of just 3.
I must've played HL2 at least 20 times over the years, and seeing that battery at 2:48:23 gave me a jumpscare. I had no idea it was there! I'd always go for the one on top of the bed and the one under the bathtub, only recently realizing there was another one on top of the tower. Even after all these years, I keep finding hidden details in HL2's nooks and crannies. What a great game!

So from Gordon's perspective Gman say he can keep it and then takes it anyway. Obviously Valve did it for gameplay reasons and to be able to frame and set up the world in HL2, which would be hard if the Combine saw some dude walking around in a HEV suit. I've always interpreted Gman stringing together the events to get him to it in the lab, as being his way of letting Gordon keep it.

Some of the streetwar maps have no commentary nodes at all, which makes the game turn off commentary mode. What you can do is run "commentary 1" in the console after transitioning to turn that back on.

When I played through the developer commentary mode, the last node I got was the one at 3:20:26, about the scrapped suppression fire feature. Any nodes after that just didn't show up for me. Did this happen to anyone else?

Some of the streetwar maps have no commentary nodes at all, which makes the game turn off commentary mode. What you can do is run "commentary 1" in the console after transitioning to turn that back on.
