      Is there anything out there now in 2020 that has replaced these Sylvania ZXE bulbs you claim is the sweet spot of 10% brighter than oem and the Xenon look since you posted this video 2 years ago? I need an all around brighter whiter halogen bulb for H9 high beam and H11 low beam.. my H9 high beam will be used as an emergency wig wag flasher from time to time if that means anything for your opinions?

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@josephanthonycacioppo798 we actually re-tested all products including some new models, and the technology hasn't changed much since then.I would take a look at LED if you can as they will be whiter with a much higher output over halogen.

      @@BulbFacts I do not have the luxury to upgrade to LED unfortunately due to eventually having to turn in the vehicle unmodified... so back to the original Halogen guidance request if you can assist me?

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@josephanthonycacioppo798 no problem. Keep in mind that LED is plug and play though, you can easily remove them with no damage just the same as changing a halogen bulb, especially the models without an external driver (which can hang out inside the headlight if it's a sealed beam). For halogen, it's picking between a bright halogen set like the Silverstar Ultra's, or a white set with reduced output like the Diamond Visions for example. Unfortunately you can't have both due to the limitation in technology.

    The Morimoto HID kit is fantastic (5500k). Light output is superior to the Phillips Zenon’s I had previously. I have a ‘15 Grand Cherokee with projector headlamps (originally halogen) - what a HUGE improvement! When run with LED’s in fog lights (I installed SNGL Focus) they make for a great combination and make driving at night sooooo much easier. It’s hard to believe the difference.

      @BulbFacts  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @kmiller3535
      @kmiller3535 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Morimoto headlight out after only 4 months. NOT happy. With a 2015 Grand Cherokee you have to pull the front bumper assembly off to access the headlamps and THEN test system components to find failure point. This means a trip back to the installer as this is a task over my back-yard mechanic head. Estimated cost $150-$200 and two trips to installer. Second guessing this install I should have simply replaced OEM bulbs with SNGL LED’s.

    I just got the Phillips diamond vision. Look real good. But I kinda want something just a little more blue

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Diamond Vision is your best bet for halogen. They are a bit higher wattage (even though not advertised) in order to maintain usable output while being much whiter. All other 'xenon look' options are less blue, and the ones that are more blue are too dim to use as a main beam, such as the PIAA Stratos Blue

      the silver star ultras are more of a gold white on low and high beam are a crazy bright blueish the zxe's are dark blueish all around and seem dim on low beams and high beams compaird to the ultras because they are more blue, the zxe's high beam are cool but not great not very bright. i would def go with the ultras i have a 06 kia sportage now and the ultras are amazing. i have a 45 min drive home after work at night and i look forward to the drive because of the ultras.

    Thank you I found this perplexing. I had assumed you went for aftermarket headlights because you wanted better Vision at night but you report that some of these lights are actually dimmer than the originals which defeats the purpose for many of upgrading the headlights in order to see better at night. Why would you ever pay more for dimmer light is beyond me.

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Halogen is a limited technology, and these mfr. simply add a blue coating which makes the light appear more white, but sacrifices the actual output.

    So, I just put in some new blue tinted bulbs i got from Amazon, from Voltage Automotive. I can't find much information on the company at all. But I have the uncommon bulb type, H11b. These are super affordable. I replaced my silverstar ultras with these. In general, the H11b bulbs from Sylvania are $20-30 more expensive than all their other bulb types. Kind of stinks, so I went with these voltage automotive bulbs...got a 4 pack for $24! I think my Sylvania were about $75 for the pair.

    I totally agree about the number 1 spot, I had them for about a year and a half, they both went out this week a couple of days apart, so the lifespan is not that long, but that is what you have to deal with if you go for these types of bulbs. The whiteness was superb, i have tried a few of these and osrams hyper blue are definitelly the best in terms of color. I put them in my 2006 hyundai getz and it looked amazing! :) The downside on these is the fact that they are not considered road legal, it also said that on the pack - "off road use only" , so you can't pass car inspection, because they are too white for the cars factory standarts, so you have to change them for the inspection, at least here ir Latvia. For me it's not a big deal, because the access to them is quite easy, but a thing to consider for others :) Overall, I love them, gives a good, clean, crisp look to the car, polish your headlights and it's gonna be amazing! :)

      @BulbFacts  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@arturstomsons3985 exactly, and based on our lifespan testing so far, some actually outlast by far. • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Matt! Great question. There is no concern as long as the upgraded kit you are purchasing is approved in your country (ie DOT). Some are 'off-road' use, however all of the off-road models we have tested so far are not as bright as the road use kits. Because the bulb design is exactly the same including the filament in the same spot, there is no concern. Some headlights may have more glare than others, so just check to see once you install them, but again you shouldn't have to worry. I hope that helps and thanks for watching!

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      For your Merc C250, you'd need to upgrade to Xenon/HID or LED in order to achieve the color like your DRLs. LED would be the best to match the color, but HID would provide the best output in your halogen projectors. Halogen is simply limited by the technology and when you go with the xenon-look halogen bulbs you drop output dramatically, especially for the very white ones closer to 5000k.

      Hey Flaco! You'll want to stick with Halogen or LED. Since your headlights are tinted, I'd go with a good LED bulb to cut through the tint. Your best bet though is to remove the tint as it will drastically decrease the output, even the smallest amount. Hope that helps!

      HI Wolfgang, it will depend on where you live and what the local law is, but you may want to look into an LED kit, as they are much whiter and much brighter, and the newer models have good designs which emit an accurate beam from the headlight optics. The xenon/white halogen bulbs lose a lot of light output due to the blue-coatings, it's just a limited technology. Check out our recommendations here; www.bulbfacts.com/led-kits/recommended/

    • @BulbFacts

      Hi MBCar freak, they will appear closer to white, in some cases white with a tint of blue (Philips Diamond Vision tested at 5500k, pure white slight tone of blue). They would not do any damage unless they were rated at a higher wattage, but that will typically cause problems with the plastic connector which you can resolve with a ceramic connector. OE headlights are designed to withstand very high heat as well.

      Hey Faud, it depends on what you would consider white. The Philips Diamond Vision is 5500k and has no yellow, and a slight hint of blue. Both are less bright than OE. The best 'overall' bulb, which is still very bright as well as whit(er), would be the Sylvania Silverstar zXe Gold at 3850k. It's not quite as white as the others but significantly whiter than OE, and is much brighter as well. • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Sou, the zXe's are a great halogen set, look for the Gold model if you can. However an LED set like the SL1's and SV4's shoot much further. The times of LEDs not throwing light as far was due to poor design, which we don't see anymore due to the diodes in the same place as the halogen filament. An LED or HID upgrade is the way to go for projectors.

      Hey Mygol! Your stock Xenon main beams will be about 4300k. You won't find LED in that color unfortunately, but we have tested many halogen bulbs, and there is one that matches the color perfectly which is the OSRAM Cool Blue advance. It was right at 4350k, and should match perfectly. For your high beams, you can do anything really (Halogen, LED, HID). If you are worried about matching the color, you can do the same halogen I mentioned, but the output is not as great as OE, so I woudln't recommend it. LED is the best choice really, and HID could be very bright, but you'll want a quick-start ballast if so. Let me know if that helps and if you need anything further!

    I have just fitted the Osram cool blue not the hyper blue and TBH I think they are rubbish I used to light the nightbreakers by Osram

      Thanks for sharing! The blue coating hinders the output, so the Nightbreaker Unlimiteds/Lasers are a better choice for maximum output.

      Those seem to be one of the top alongside the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra's. But this video was about the best xenon style bulb which provides more of a white/blue color.
