So proud! 🥹 You made something wonderful and I believe you will inspire many to go play and create and that is a job well done. Love&hugs to you and Biscuit ❤️
Thank you Darcy, I learnt so much from this first page and your videos are helping me relax my control over my art a little, I’m excited to do another page
Be brave be bold you can't make a mistake it's your painting you've already done so much more than I would have done I wouldn't have taken it past the numbers
Sometimes I go into my mixed media books and just scribble something on several pages. I also take scrapbook paper that I don’t like and glue down pieces to a bunch of pages. It gets them started so it makes it easier to get going.
You have been instrumental in helping me get my mojo back. Thank you for your honesty about how you think/feel while you are working. That someone so talented questions their process gives hope and freedom to do… not just think - but act . Anyway, thank you.
Talk about an invigorating video. Wonderful! I feel it did my perfectionist tendencies the world of good to see you abandon yourself (but stay true to yourself) in this first page of your “art dump” journal…and with a thrilling result! Thank you so much Ceri!
Ceri, I was very excited to watch this video and as always you did not disappoint ❤️ I love the idea of taking a break and coming back with fresh eyes, I very often forget this crucial artistic skill. Excellent work of art!
Well done on getting your first page done. I am glad you are happy with the finished piece. I could see a cat calling me from the bottom right of the page. If it was my page that would have been my focal point as all I could focus on when I saw it was that cat. I would have drawn in some eyes, nose, mouth and whiskas and then added a quote in the top right of the page using black. Your piece called to you and told you what it needed. We all see something different and that is what makes us artists. Enjoy the journey and 'trust the process '.
While you were worrying about the upper right corner of your page, I was screaming in my head, “Write something about yourself during this process!” Evidently you didn’t hear me😅. Then I remembered, this is your work…not mine. I’ll try to contain myself in the future! Great job!
BRAVO! I was hoping for a border to pull my eyes inward...& you did it. I spotted that raspberry posca in your tray, & knew that was coming. I hope I'm going to enjoy my dump journal as much as you did in yours today. Wonderful job Ceri!
The first time learning or approaching a new idea is flipping hard. I am not sure why we internally expect perfection but it does put another hurdle to cross. I don't have an art degree, just a series of trials, hurdles, fails, and successes. My fails are cut up for journal fodder, which often become successes. Odd, ya know? Anyway... keep at it and thank you for being so public with your journey. ❤
Ceri, I’m watching and really liked what you had created at 30:39. It occurred to me you might want to take stills along the way. You could sell them as digital prints like Mariah did with P’s leaves.
The border definitely helped pull things together, looks fab at the end! Only thing I would have added is a word in that top right hand corner where you signed it, maybe the word BRAVE for stepping out of your comfort zone 😊 Looking forward to the next one 💗
Having a watch & enjoying it Ceri. I'm 99% sure I sent you the orange circles and the black/blue scroll-y print. 😊This ended up being totally different than what I thought you were going to do, but it's wonderful and I enjoyed watching you create!!
Inspirational as always. You mentor us all and say hey it's ok to make mistakes, its ok to play. Very welcome to someone like me who is new to all this.
Just wonderful my dear.... xx I think the white and the pens around the edges brought it all together xxx I love that you have this book and are experimenting .... xxxhugs xx
Great job! I love your page and I enjoyed watching you tackle this project. Your candid, conversational way is endearing and is among the many reasons why I come back to your videos time and time again. Take care! I'll catch Darcy's vid, too...
Thanks so much for sharing your process with us. Great end result and lots of gems on the way. It was a bit like watching someone draft a short story. It was going fabulously and we were loving the characters you created. Then every now and again characters were deleted and the plot line altered, and there was a momentary sense of loss, but that faded as new characters and an even better plot line were constructed until we reached the end, and all was just as it was meant to be. 😊
I've been a mixed media artist for over 30 years and believe me you've done a wonderful creation 💖 I look forward to seeing more 🤓......and I'll give a quick tip to anyone starting on a mixed media journey .... don't be scared of a blank page, your the boss of it, tell it you're going to get very fiesty with it and it may end up with bruises !......ps.....if you find white gesso too stark add some acrylic paint to it (many colours available) ....Happy Arting 🎨🖌️
You took us on a wonderful journey of exploration, and gave us a glimpse of how to change a plain page into a stunning piece of artwork work. Thank you! 😊
Hi Ceri. Lots of fun with this video. I had to smile a little watching you struggle with the freedom to do "whatever" on this page. The main thing I saw happening was how you favored the left side of the spread and sure enough you ended with an area on the right side that you thought needed something. Even though you said you were going to let it stand as is you just couldn't do it (please note here I have a big smile on my face as I say this.) Awesome the way you filled that space... big and brave with your signature. Absolutely loved it. 😁 So very proud of you. You rocked it. 👏👏👏❤️
Oh, Ceri!!! Its fabulous!!! Great idea on how you made the book!! I'd love to make one!!! Love the brown-bag pages. I really enjoyed watching you create this! Very inspiring. TFS! Austin TX USA
The page is great! I love that you used the basics and what you had to complete the page. Also that the "leftovers" were the start of another great page. Nicely done!
Congrats on your first spread in the new experimental journal! Thanks for the laughs along the way. PURPOSEFULLY I think the word is ...🤪🥰 I love and appreciate how you drew some conclusions at the end about the process, design, colors, etc. Have a great week, Ceri 😁😘
I think it is so awesome I you know I didn't know what to think at first but isn't it funny how a weed can turn into a rose and I just love your painting it's it's gorgeous
The end result was great...it was also great at 26:00, and 29:00...just food for thought. How does the artist know when to stop? Is it a felt sense of effort? Do some beauties come together sooner? Etc. Just ruminations...❤ Proud of you for going crazy!
The result 1s not to be measure by its beauty (that could be present) but by the process that poor your soul on it. Is very interesting how you explain your process❤ thank you for sharing Ceri❤
Hi Ceri, I love that you are making a journal that you can play in just to be playing, them ones are always fun to do. You made me giggle a few times and thats one reason we love you so much. Do things you wouldn't do with your normal journals just have fun they don't have to make sense 😊
Hi Ceri! I love everything about this video! I kept saying “trust the process”. This is a totally different way of creating for you, and I think you did just an amazing job with it! Just like your doodling, the more you do this type of process, the more comfortable you will get with it. I’m looking forward to seeing the other pages as you get to them.
Totally amazing. I now understand the phrase Trust The Process. While watching I was thinking no stop you’re covering up beautiful work but the finished process is absolutely awesome. I love watching you create.
As you’ve said, this is where you play. And quite a play you had. I’m house/dog sitting and only brought my digitals, stamps and ink. Luckily it’s a short distance to get my stencils and some paint. Thanks for sharing and as always, inspiring❤
"Create with reckless abandon" Pam at the Paper Outpost. I love what I am learning in this tutorial.
So proud! 🥹 You made something wonderful and I believe you will inspire many to go play and create and that is a job well done. Love&hugs to you and Biscuit ❤️
Thank you Darcy, I learnt so much from this first page and your videos are helping me relax my control over my art a little, I’m excited to do another page

Ohhh, Ceri, anything you do is simply……mahhhhhhhhvelous!!
My goodness Loooong! Thanks for giving me the ideas to try and take as long as it needs! I really learned lots for riding along.
Be brave be bold you can't make a mistake it's your painting you've already done so much more than I would have done I wouldn't have taken it past the numbers
Never learned so many techniques in one tutorial. Thank you
Sometimes I go into my mixed media books and just scribble something on several pages. I also take scrapbook paper that I don’t like and glue down pieces to a bunch of pages. It gets them started so it makes it easier to get going.
Donna that’s one of the things I learnt I needed some book page or something in the background to start with.
Lives are overrated Ceri...do your thing🙌
Please: no shoulds, no spoils. Creative guts are to be trusted. True some take time. Projects such as this celebrate serendipity.
U have been giving me heart that one day I can make things again. Thank u.
The signature did it!! ❤🎉😊
Liquitex does not disappoint. Such a fun project!
You have been instrumental in helping me get my mojo back. Thank you for your honesty about how you think/feel while you are working. That someone so talented questions their process gives hope and freedom to do… not just think - but act . Anyway, thank you.
Perfect, thank you Jenny
Everything you do is golden! 10 high fives and 2 thumbs up 👍 👌
Ooh I absolutely love that background!
I think that true perspective comes from your inner tuition, not necessarily from dry formality.
You are so helpful. I appreciate what you are doing and saying in this tutorial.
Loved every minute ❤ of this! If this was 3 in the afternoon, I'd get my paints out...3 in the morning? Going to keep watching!😊
Talk about an invigorating video. Wonderful! I feel it did my perfectionist tendencies the world of good to see you abandon yourself (but stay true to yourself) in this first page of your “art dump” journal…and with a thrilling result! Thank you so much Ceri!

Funny you’re not the only one to see a cat and to me it was invisible.
I love brown paper , Thank you for this tutorial. I didn’t know where to start
You’re welcome 😊
While you were worrying about the upper right corner of your page, I was screaming in my head, “Write something about yourself during this process!” Evidently you didn’t hear me😅. Then I remembered, this is your work…not mine. I’ll try to contain myself in the future! Great job!
Thank you screaming, I kinda heard you when I signed it.
Well done!!! Learning to do some abstract art too so l learned a lot. Just have to trust the process ❤❤
Love maps.
Oh this was scads of fun to watch! You inspire me. Love mixed media but it is pretty far out of my comfort zone!
This is really a beautiful work of art.
Dear Ceri, I love this... very exciting, very inspiring... I was hooked very quickly!
Thank you so much!
This truly is a beautiful work of art!

How fun!!

I love this journal! I plan to use my many brown grocery bags for this idea! I think ithis will help me get into doing journals.
Thank you so much for sharing
The border definitely helped pull things together, looks fab at the end! Only thing I would have added is a word in that top right hand corner where you signed it, maybe the word BRAVE for stepping out of your comfort zone 😊 Looking forward to the next one 💗

I like the white framing
Thank you!

Paulla I learnt a lot from this first page and I’m excited to do the next one.
You had me at my old worn comfy sweatshirt! Mine is covered in dry paint and holes😂😂😂
I so wanted to tell you that the top corner needed words!! Your signature is perfect. Awesome! 😍😍😍❤
This is wonderful very inspirational I love it 💕
I love your art! Thank you!

Ceri: sensational two pages! Carol from California
I love it, in the corner it looks like a. Cat of some sort . lol lol ❤❤
Your Dump Journal is inspiring me to try my hand at one. Loosening up is something I need to practice and this is the perfect way to start. Thank you.

Loved this "process" and loved that it was long and allowed us to see the entire process. Great job.
The page is great! I love that you used the basics and what you had to complete the page. Also that the "leftovers" were the start of another great page. Nicely done!
I love this work!
Yep. That was just what it needed. I kept thinking a word but the signature is perfect 👌🏻
LOVE it!!!!!!!
Love your courage to truly explore

For me it’s a combination of an instinct and the fact that I begin to struggle to find the correct elements to add.
I love watching you play! Looks great Ceri!
The outcome is "to love" very inspiring 😅
Trust the process! ❤ I have a use it up journal and it’s turning into one of my favourites!
I like it
