I got to meet Gabby years after they parted when she was tending bar in Brooklyn and she's as humble and sweet as one might think she would be. She even gave me my first beer free after I told her I could read energy and could sum up each bandmembers true personality in a small paragraph each and proceeded to do so after she accepted the challenge. Her face read panic by the time I got to her, and I was like silly girl, of course you too: You're the humble one, the one who really doesn't truly grasp how talented and shiny she is. Which she of course denied and I said point proven...and then free beer lol. She was my crush too. I saw them live once at a free show in RI and every time she shook her hips and smiled lovingly into the crowd I'd take a second to imagine it was really just for me lol. I didn't know Vivian had passed. That's sad.
The single most underrated band of the 90's. And Jill Cunniff...such a crush for me when I was in college. These women are incredible musicians. Funky.
They are like the toughest, coolest, badass New York chicks! This is one of the most creative sexy amazing songs ever recorded. They are goddesses !!!! Viva Luscious Jackson!!!!

They were low key cool. The CRUSHING bass you can’t really hear on iPhone. It was what sold me. Naked Eye was terrific as well. Not enough time to love enough music.
Respect!!! These ladies are legends!! This album was groundbreaking for me! Vastly underrated for its cultural influence. I've been down with these ladies since 92! And they're still dope af to me.. Vino!! Their image has left such a permanent resounding affect on me. Now looking back(now 44).. That b girl(from that Era) , indie chic, white girl vibe is my weakness..They are the epitome of that to me. Cute brunette w bangs?...Sorry, I'm done!... lol(still woke)😜
Saw them supporting The Beastie Boys in Prague. Their Natural Ingredients album was big on Prague´s Radio 1 - an independent station that has never had playlists. Their listenership has never been big, but they do have between 30 and 50 thousand people who wouldn´t listen to any other station.
yeah that performance was a real history landmark for both the beastie boys and LJ, since it was one of the first times Kate Schellenbach properly got reacquainted with the beastie boys after a disagreement following thier former friendships as far as I know
Luscious groove. Saw them live way back in 95 supporting the beasties at London Astoria, they were cool as, inviting a few of the audience to join them on stage to dance. Good times.
I love that you caught that line. I'm 58yo, and will go to my grave repeating that. Ever heard "Strong Man?" Same album. Saw them open for R.E.M. at Madison Square Garden. Shouts to Kate Schellenbach, an original Beastie Boy! Google that!! Awesome!

Yep, 1974's On and On by Gladys Knight & the Pips, written and produced by the much-sampled Curtis Mayfield
It's the way she carries herself, she grew up in France.

I love this song so much. It's my first Lucisous Jackson song and it absolutely blew me away as a teenager.
I played this often on my mid '90s radio show in Alaska. At least then, people were open to more unusual and creative music.
