@cheesycam do you need to unlock the gimbal as you would normally if on the joystick? And would any firmware updates by dji effect the use of this device i have pre ordered looks great for jib style shots lots of potential
Yes you would unlock the gimbal as normal. Firmware should not have any effect as this is a 'dumb' adapter that merely extends the contact points with long cables. I don't think the DJI OSMO knows any difference.
Remote as in remote controlled; leave Osmo with a small battery/transmitter pack somewhere, and have the control handle/screen elsewhere. Especially long distances or have a remote operator with a joystick console.
Remember that the OSMO Camera + Gimbal needs to be powered up. If you separate the camera part, you still need to have a battery connected to it. The OSMO camera + gimbal requires a 12V battery and a decent size one. What you end up with is a Camera Gimbal with a Battery about the size of the Joystick. So it's almost the same as mounting the entire OSMO somewhere and just using your Smartphone to control the OSMO remotely.
But what these guys are able to do now, is to make a 'wired' system where the Camera Gimbal can be remotely placed. The Camera Gimbal can be powered over the extension cable leaving just the head. This would be better for helmet or car mounting type situations where you want the camera to be as light as possible.
this is the most useful accessory so far , lot of potential and not expensive at all
Would this would with the X5 and adapter?

you have to love all the cool gadgets or accessories there are now, just amazing.
will this work with the osmo x5?
Did you ever find out if it works with the X5?
By chance do you know if you can stack one on top of another one??
I would not recommend stacking these. That would be a lot of stress on the joystick mount.
vary nice ... how much cost please
Hi is it possible to buy those chips from Kamerar ? thanks
I don't think so. They do have other accessories coming out soon, maybe they will sell just the ends with a long wire.
nice please tell me when the long cable will be available thanks a lot
will this work with the newly released DJI Osmo Mobile?
The OSMO Mobile cannot be taken apart like the OSMO and X3 camera.
MrCheesyCam thank you
MrCheesyCam - What about the X5? Didn't see an answer in the comments.
Where is the demonstration to film yourself? What?
is that noise the fan?
Yes but fan turns off when you hit record. Turns on when not recording.
One of these days DJI needs to make the OSMO a remote camera
ain't it already? what do you mean?

i hope they make the extension cable soon. I would much rather use this setup than the z1 rider + gopro + monitor setup I have now.
