    They popped up in a couple local stores and there’s absolutely nothing online about them, not even a website! But the two tone white looks fantastic. So this really helps with the purchase so thank you!

    God, I'm absolutely in love with the green white version of the 900R. Wonder when they'll be restocked. It'd be my first mechanical keyboard.

      it's been a fantastic first for me (well, not first, but first one i actually liked; the expensive corsairs were :\ so I left mech a long time)

      @@felicityc Did you end up getting the MX Silent Red version? If so, how does it feel in gaming and typing?

  • @felicityc

    I really like this keyboard, got it some months ago. I got silent silvers, and coming from awful razer ones, they're just fabulous. I really wanted a mechanical keyboard that felt like membrane, and silent silvers + o rings does the job somehow. I don't care about backlights, and the keys feel so nice. I love the aesthetic too. I use the keypad, and the keypad is fantastic.
    The keycap puller is indeed trash. I think the usb choice was for a cost reason.
    I couldn't get the ps/2 adapter to work, no matter the settings I put in the bios, so not rly sure about what is required for it. edit: nvm it works, idk get the same response times :\
    Nice review.

    Awesome review, thank you for sharing! I’m currently eyeing a leopold 900R as well. Coming from a ducky one brown keys, i get too much fatigue typing on the ducky and am looking to get this in red or blue switch. Just wondering if you have any similar experience, would love to hear your thoughts!

    • @TechCritter
      @TechCritter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lucky you, I was using a Ducky One with MX Brown at first. I changed to MX Red about a year later, and have been using MX Red until I personally bought a Leopold FC750R PD. Currently using MX Silent Red instead.
      The typing fatigue varies from person to person, but I think the MX Blue will cause just the same amount of fatigue as the MX Brown. I personally prefer MX Red a lot more.

      Tech Critter thanks for sharing! So i just had a leopold 900r with red switches delivered. Must say i’m really liking it, & imo it feels a step higher than my previous ducky in terms of quality! Many thanks for the content!

    Awesome review. I'm wondering whether this keyboard has any Caps Lock/Num Lock/Scroll Lock indicators? I'm not seeing any LEDs in the top right corner where they are supposed to be.

    • @TechCritter
      @TechCritter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks - and sharp eyes. The LEDs are located under the keycap.
      So if I turned on caps lock ,the caps lock will have an LED glow under the keycap.

    How enjoyable is it to type on linear switches? Is it too 'sensitive' to your liking, or is it alright?

    • @TechCritter
      @TechCritter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's just like any other Cherry MX Red switches, but it's more... soft-landing type.
      Combined with the solid build quality and thick keycaps from Leopold, it's a completely different feel.

    • @alexanderkurokawa8834
      @alexanderkurokawa8834 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TechCritter I see... would you think it's worth buying? I have never bought a mechanical keyboard before, and I am thinking of getting a leopold FC750R in these silent red switches. I don't plan to game on them but rather typing for studies. Does it feel "mushy" with the solid build and the foam padding inside the board? Because I tried mx silents with a key tester (which probably feels nothing like the keyboard) and the silents felt a little mushy like membrane keys.

    • @TechCritter
      @TechCritter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It's quite a different feel compared to the membrane switches. Membranes have this sort of rubber dome collapse which the travel distance just change abruptly when pressed. Cherry MX red and silent red in particular has a linear travel downwards, so there is no rubber dome collapse.
      Mushy or not, the Cherry MX Silent Red has a landing that is not as harsh. It's like a last-minute dampening feel, something like a Cherry MX keyboard with o-rings but better.
      TBH, after reviewing the FC900R PD Silent Red, I bought myself a FC750R PD with Silent Red 😂

    • @alexanderkurokawa8834
      @alexanderkurokawa8834 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TechCritter Nice! Im wanting to get the 750R because it's tenkeyless, and I want more space on my desk. I sorta get it on what 'rubber dome collapses' are, is it how when you press down on the rubberdome keys, the feel and how the key recognition varies significantly and is inconsistent depending on how you press it?

    • @TechCritter
      @TechCritter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the first place is correct. The rubber dome collapse to recognize that the key is pressed is a little weird. In terms of consistency, well it varies. Different brands have different quality control in the rubber dome actuation. Some high-end membrane keyboards actually feel okay to type on. Even Topre keyboards have a rubber dome - but damn that keyboard feels good to type on.

    Do you know what R stands for in FC900R ? I know M stands for Mechanical and C for capacitive, for FC660M and FC660C for example.

    • @TechCritter
      @TechCritter  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's... a question that I don't an answer to. The R in the name for this keyboard still means mechanical keyboard, though.

    • @TechCritter
      @TechCritter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is John replying the comment.
      Both R and M stands for mechanical. Just that R means the layout is standard/regular, it applies to 104 or 87 keys keyboard models.
      As for the M, it means the layout is modified. As you can see the offset arrow cluster on their 98 or 66 keys keyboard.
      I'm not too sure why they wanted to do so considering that the C means Capacitive yet the layout is modified. For example , FC980C and FC660C. By right they should call it FC980CM. Haha

    What does PD stand for?

    • @TechCritter
      @TechCritter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      PD stands for the keycap profile. If I'm not wrong, PD stands for their own keycap profile whereby OE stands for OEM keycap profile (e.g. the Leopold FC750R OE)
